I decluttered my collection and my goodness it feels amazing. wont be replacing it with much either. trying to declutter my life here while I pay off student loans! hahaha
How does one end up with so much makeup that they don't like? We all have misses but dam that was like an entire collection worth of unwanted products. I agree completely. Get rid of it because life is too short to waste on using making that you don't love. But maybe make better spending habits because all this consumerism and waste is horrible for our world. I like the idea but still bad habits in the long run.
A lot is sent to me for review and I also invest in some just to review on my channel but once I realize it doesn't work, I like to pass it on so it doesn't just sit in my collection. :)
Sometimes it's that stuff use to work for her or she use to like it, but now doesn't. She did say with the foundations that she was getting the wrong color and got rid of a lot that she use to use but were the wrong color. A lot of makeup people have so much makeup they don't even know what to do with. So it's good to downsize the collection once in a while. She doesn't trash it either, she usually passes it on to her sisters or friends.
That's good I'm glad to hear that it isn't just thrown away and that its passed on to someone who will hopefully love it 😊
I think this is 100% better than having the ridiculously huge collection other people on TH-cam have, that's why I like Jessica a lot. But if I throw it away I feel bad because I feel that I'm wasting products. Any ideas on what to do with the makeup you don't want/use?
I love that there are so many people on TH-cam that try things out for us and review products, and it's soooo respectful to see someone not hoarding a ton of unwanted products and passing them on to people that could use them. :)

+Katie Astacio- I know, when she mentions that these lancome and urban decay products were sent to her, I start to wish I had her (second) job! But she puts in the time and effort for this channel so she deserves it. With my full time job plus call I wouldn't have the energy to keep up with filming multiple videos a week. And as far as giving away the makeup that was sent to her, well she didn't ask for those products or pick out colors she likes. I'm sure they were unsolicited.

There is SO many negative comments on here and I think it's ridiculous! We ALL should be more honest with our makeup collection! I have a bunch of stuff that I never ever pull out the back if my draw (honestly I can't bear to part with them even though I REALLY NEED TO). She's doing an awesome thing by passing the things on that she doesn't love to people who will put them to use! If we declutter then we have more space to find awesome things!
+Tasman Mulloy I think people are confused as to why she's getting rid of items she says she loves. Or, as I just read, she raves about products and then gets rid of them the following month. Some people find it hard to trust her word after that. Does that make sense? Personally, it's her makeup and her money and if she wants to keep buying things just to get rid of them a few weeks or months later, it's her business. However, I do understand why people are confused. It's consumerism gone wild.

I love purge videos but, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but constantly purging then repurchasing really isn't making progress. I think setting goals to finish items like starting a project pan series will not only move things out of your collection but you could get use of something you don't normally do and instead of tossing it bc you just don't touch it, not bc you don't like it, you can finish it instead.
+Renee S It's different for TH-camrs because they get paid making videos and they gain viewers from trying out new products and giving their opinions. For the average consumer, there's no reason to keep repurchasing... YTers make it possible for the rest of us to "pick and choose" what products we want to buy.

+Diana Wodnoff she still spent the money tho. the product she gave away is being used but her money is gone.

Unfortunately sometimes you get things you like, but just don't work out for texture, finish, shade/undertone, etc reasons. Forcing yourself to finish (aka wear daily) items you don't love as much isn't feasible. I've been talked into/bought without testers available products that are lovely but just don't work.

Can you imagine how annoying it must be for Jessica to read all the, "Could you give it to me?", "I'm a mom and can't buy things for myself", "What are you going to do with all the makeup you're giving away?" comments? Or the, "I wish I was related to you," comments. Really? You wish you were related to her just so she could give you things? Nice.
I know it can be hard to see someone with so much makeup constantly buying it and then getting rid of it when you have very little, but if it's hard for you don't watch. I can't stand watching people get hurt in videos (or in real life), so I don't watch America's Funniest Videos or prank videos. Just avoid things you know will upset you, if you can. You'll be much happier for it.

Everybody has little hairs around the area on our chins and lips so the hourglass foundation probably clung to the little hairs there

love these declutter videos and the idea of weekly/monthly makeup drawers. I started doing these myself and it really helped me figuring out what I like and what doesn't work and also controlling the urge to buy new stuff.

Love, love, LOVE your decluttering videos. You are always so honest with yourself in what you actually need and use vs. what you want to keep because of the amount of money you spent on it, but does not actually work for you. I love the spin on the kon mari methods original "keep what makes you happy" to "would I buy this again". I think this works a little more efficiently because some makeup products (like concealer) doesn't exactly make people jump for joy.
Man, you're good at this! Too often I watch these declutter videos and find myself getting annoyed with the people making them because they won't let stuff go. Excellent job!

Jessica, before you get rid of the foundation that is too light, check out Million Dollar Tan Shade Upgrade Extreme Dark Foundation Booster. When added to your foundation it will make it darker. I've bought it and used it and it works. You kinda have to practice with how much to use, but it does work!!! Love your videos!!!

I love your declutter videos, I think I've watched them all. I try to get rid of stuff on regular basis but I always feel so guilty when throwing away things that in perfectly good condition.
Why dont you get a dark pigment from coverfx to fix the shade of the light foundations?? Its so sad to see all this makeup go to waste!

I love watching decluttering videos... seeing massive collections give me so much anxiety. I used to also have the mind set of "buy buy buy" and always wanting MORE, but since downsizing my makeup, I feel so much freer. So I do understand why people think getting rid of makeup is "wasteful" but I also have to disagree. The money is already spent. There's no reason for you to "make a foundation work" by mixing it if you already have other foundations that match you! It's just my opinion that there isn't a point in forcing yourself to use products you don't LOVE if you already own several others... many people take months and months to even finish a bottle (especially if you rotate them) so it's better to use the ones you like before they expire!!

I LOVE your declutter videos (and all your videos really) but for some reason this one felt especially like, shakey, or like it was moving a lot. It may just be me having a weird night, but it made me a little nauseous with a touch of headache, and I haven't experienced that before when watching declutter videos. Just thought I'd mention it as something to keep in mind! If you find it's normal and not jarring, feel free to ignore me! Maybe I'm just feeling weird, as I said. :p

I'm constantly mixing foundations for the perfect finish and color! You should try getting a Cover FX Custom Cover Drops in a slightly darker shade and mix it with all the foundations that were too light for you! CFX Cover Drops are amazing!! My favorite combo right now is mixing a primer, Cover Drops (2-3 drops) with the L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte foundation. My makeup doesn't budge all day!
I love how you say "it's time" while choosing things to give away, lol. So inspirational that you do this. I'm not sure I'd be able to, but then again you do get sent products and buy products to review for us so it's different.
As always, this video was great. When I see your declutter videos it encourages me to do the same. I pass on items to my daughter and nieces. Some people wonder why you purchase and then declutter, I do the same because if I don't try new things I don't know what works and what doesn't. Great video.

I do the same thing when I declutter my makeup. I ask myself "Am I ever going to wear this?". A lot of the stuff I love the formulation, but the color doesn't work for me. Some I just end up hating. So I really like this video. Also like you, I always give my makeup away to family and friends instead of just throwing it away. I figure let it go to a home where it's actually gonna get used up instead of me holding onto it because I "might" wear it. Great video!
I hate getting rid of makeup. Like, it almost hurts lol. it's awesome that you declutter so much. I usually wait till I have a friend stay over and ask them if they want any of it or give it to my sister.

I really love Jessica's videos, she seems so friendly and upbeat, but I cannot watch these anymore. It is making me start to question a lot of her recommendations when she raves about something one month, and then declutters it the next.
agree 100%....i also don't get why she still gets subscription boxes,it just doesn't seem to fit in with the way she wants to keep her makeup collection (full of only her favorite stuff that she loves) since the products you get are so hit & miss....i get that she reviews them for this channel (her "2nd job") but there are other things besides sub boxes to review...like, wait until a new product line launches, buy 1 or 2 to see if she likes them & if she does, the buy all the colors she likes and will use & do a review on those...just my thoughts/constructive criticism

I feel like you still kept a ton of gold/champagne/cream shimmer shades. When I purge I would rather keep one or two palettes of colors I only occasionally wear than a bunch of the same shade even if I wear it more often. That way I have the option of doing a more colorful look when I get in the mood.
On the high end items you should send to glambot and do a video on what you sent, how much was in each approximately, and what they offered you. No videos like that on TH-cam. Lots of glambot hauls but nobody talks about and shows each item they sent in and what the offer was, etc. Love all your videos! Keep up the great work!

A lot of people don't understand purging, but for me it keeps my mind at ease. I get anxiety from the stupidest things, like having too many candles or nail polishes so I sell some that I don't use/need or give my sisters and mom. I really don't like collecting. Somehow it bothers me too much if I have more than I need/use. Like I only have one lip balm right now because that's all I can handle lol

I love your videos especially your review videos so much because we have the same type of skin. At first I thought I had oily skin, but I have learned I have combo-normal skin. Oily on the forehead, dry around the mouth and chin, normal everywhere else! You are definitely one of my top favorite youtubers :)

lady's it's hard to watch and or do this ourselves, but think about it if we keep it , it will not bring the money back already spent. looking at it again and again just makes it worse. I declutter after her last video and feel soooo much better. for her job on TH-cam this makes perfect sense. we should all think of doing this not just for makeup, but things around our house. after doing mine I think more wisely about how I spend my "makeup allowance ". thanks for your hard work Jessica . happy holidays to you and yours.

I could understand getting rid of he things you don't like at all and the things that don't match your skin tone, but if you like it, even a little tiny bit, you should keep it. You spent the money on it, doesn't that make you feel like you're throwing or giving away your money? I mean, it's called a "collection" for a reason. I keep hearing you say, "This is too hard." It really shouldn't be that hard. I don't think I'll be watching a deck utter video ever again. It's frustrating 😫
I agree. I usually like her declutter videos but this one upset me. If you like it and use it why get rid of it just because you have similar colors. I was getting so mad.
I agree as well, totally frustrated when things are pushed away as "not reaching for, too light,too dark,similar colours" but then get more of the same stuff. Too wasteful :(

Definitely! I keep thinking that the entire time!! I don't feel like you need to de litter just for the sake of doing so. If you love it, don't get rid of it just because you have other kinds of same products. I totally understand the reason behind de littering...but this version doesn't make sense.
