I had the 74 Honda 400four Super Sport as my first bike. I did all the maintenance and modifications. Cafe'd it out along with quite a few other mechanical tricks. Painted black with Electric Blue pin striping. That bike would do a wheelie with my 225 Lb weight. I laid down with my chin resting on my left glove between the gauges and feet up over the rear turn signals. Stable at 110mph. Even though it had an electric starter ( which I used on hot summer days at stop lights) , It never failed to start with the very first kick start now matter how cold. Not a single back country road here in the bay area i didn't go on from Half Moon Bay to Mount Hamilton to Carmel. My first ever date was to Laguna Seca Motorcycle racing,......and yep....I'm still married to her. I put 120,000 miles on it before I bought the V-45 Magna and put 130,000 on her, then the Pacific Coast 800 115,000, then the 98' ST1100 with 180,000, then on to my current commuter an ST1300 now at 128,000. I haven't owned a car since 1979. Cold and rain.....I have a rain suit for the 60 miles a day. Weekends are for my 2014 Gold Wing Valkyrie here on the central California coast near Santa Cruz. I'm now 67.

I owned and rode a 75 Red CB400 Four and drove it up and down Shoreline Hwy and into San Francisco for over 18 years. I never had a problem with the bike. I loved the bike, it was light and easy to handle and ride.

Bought one in 1975 ...had it in front of the barracks ....had it chained and all ....somebody liked it better than me :( never saw it again, and said "thwi!", and got a car.....; it was a great, quick, nimble thing ...if you don't watch it, it will wheelie "on takeoff"!!

I think the bike is asking for a carburettor cleaning at least...

Yes I agreed I had a 1973 Honda 350 four to get the best performance you need to pay particular attention to carburettor balance float levels and careful tuning of the idle mixture screw also careful adjustment of the points paying particular attention to the timing marks and make sure the cam chain tension correctly and also setting the tappets every 10000 km if you pay attention to all these aspects I guarantee you'll have one of the most smoothest best performing 400 around

Not running on all cylinders. I am sure it does when it warms up a bit.

$5500 in 2015. It would be worth about four times that now. I know. I’ve been looking.

Must be an audio problem because a 400/4 should not be making that kind of noise.
