Watching this show as it aired was a wild ride. I really wasn't expecting much but was left in awe with how good X-men 97 is. The bold choice of sticking to the original animation style but adding a little modern flare to it was such a great choice.
I heard Feige’s requirements to do this show was: get rights to the theme, keep the opening, get the cast back. Members of the cast said they had to audition. It looks like to me that they got everyone back. If they could still do their voices, they did their voices. If they couldn’t still do their voices, they voiced other characters- for example the actress who voiced Dr. Valerie Cooper used to voice Jean Grey. And when they had to replace voices because the actor had passed or their voice had changed, they tended to get soundalikes. It feels like the show never ended. It even picks up after season 5 of the original. It has me giddy.
You guys are in for a ride with this series! As an older fan of the show it was so easy to slip back into connecting with it, but as it went forward it was evolving and, without getting into spoilers, it exceeded my expectations! Looking forward to see how you guys see this! Also they never got into why Morph has a new look. It's more comic accurate though, since originally his character was added into the comics after the original 92' X-men show, and it plays into the theme of how his face can 'morph' into anyone else.
Ditto to this! I was blown away how this series captured my memory of the original show but then evolved into something far more complex, ambitious and thrilling. I look forward to your reactions to future episodes. I cannot wait for Season 2!
This is such a great show. Even with all the praise it still seems underappreciated. Especially how poignant more pertinent Magneto's arc becomes with the timing of everything going on in the world. 🍉

This series was a Masterpiece, you guys are going to love it, i loved it so much that i literally got into figure collecting again & went figure hunting for X-Men 97 figures for 10 months straight til i found all of wave 1, wave 2 & wave 3 I'm only missing 1 figure to complete the collection & its Rogue lol this show is too good! For Morphs look in this series: before the original series, Morph didn't exist in the comics. He based on a similar character from the 60s, the Changeling. In 1994, Morph was introduced to the comics, but with the look, he has now in the series too. He never looked different in the comics, whenever he appeared. s So that the reason, that they matched their look in the series. By the way, in the comics he is more powerful. He just can't change into other persons, but in every object as well. Kinda like the T-1000 from T2.

However, Marvel added him to the comics in the early 2000's and they gave him the look we see now. I think in X-Men 97, they probably saying Morph evolved into that look. If you liked the first 2 episodes, it gets better from there. This show does justice for your favorite X-Men. It respects the source material and that's a lesson Hollywood needs to learn. Many writers and directors care more about their personal message than about profits. And, instead of doing personal documentaries promoting their message they do it through mainstream TV and film genres. There seems to be a Hollywood renaissance going on right now.

There's no way I was going to watch this without watching the original again and that's exactly what I did before watching X-Men 97 because it explain things so much better so for the people who have not watched X-Men 97 yet watch the original first because if you just jump into X-Men 97 there's just some things you just not going to understand 💯💯💯💯
Needed to rephrase, If you watch the 97 series first, you will have lots of questions that you need answered by the original, That quality will make the old show more enjoyable for first time viewers.

Yes! You're finally watching the show! The final episode is the only one that has end credits. The show only gets better from here (Episode 5 in particular earned the show an Emmy nomination). My only real criticism of the show is the pacing. Some of the comic storylines they adapted really needed a lot more time to breathe. Some of the more emotional moments feel very rushed at times because they tried to stick to the 30-minute Saturday morning cartoon format. 5-year-olds may not have the attention span needed for the emotional beats, but the older target audience does. I hope that for Season 2, they either make each episode or the number of total episodes longer.

Morph was rescued in the last/2nd to last season. They were being used as a test subject for Mr.Sinister. Also, just fyi, Morph is nonbinary in xmen 97. The creators wanted to add more diversity to the group with lgbtq representation, as well as adding Roberto DeCosta for latin rep (though iirc he was originally black Brazilian). I too grew up with the show. Also avidly read the comics, spin-offs, etc. The 90's show was the only thing outside of the comics that I loved almost as much as the comics. The X-verse was very formative to my youth for many of the same reasons it sounds like it resonated with Jose. The X-Verse was always a place for the outcasts. The whole premise of the X-Men is based on addressing exclusion, bigotry, prejudice, etc. Considering how fundamental this show was to my childhood, I was extremely skeptical of its rebirth, but they crushed it. This continuation was awesome! Great dialogue, little nods to the animation style, the music, even the return of some of the same voice casting.
Morph was killed in the second episode as a way to kickstart the drama, but he was so loved by fans that they brought him back later as a thrall of Mr. Sinister who saved him to use him. When Morph finally broke away, he refused to come back because he was ashamed but Wolverine pursued him until he brought him home. (When Morph was trying to drive Wolverine away, one of the characters he turned into was Deadpool.)

based on what you said to the preview for the series i was waiting eagerly for you guys to watch it. i'm glad to see you are watching it now. though i have to say contrats on somehow managing to avoid spoilers all this time because this show generated so much talk between episidoes. especially with just how good it is. it literally just keeps getting better.
The interesting thing about Magneto in comics and this cartoon, both original and now, if a random person in the universe out there thinks of a mutant, he probably is the face that pops in their head as he is high profile, hero, villain, terrorist? Magneto has been it all for better or for worse and his status as a front man for mutant kind, you sometimes have to take what you are given.
I highly recommend you guys watch a recap video of the old series. There’s plenty of videos on TH-cam you can pick from and it will help you understand the references made and the overall plot 😊
I need more, cant wait til you get to the heavy hitting episodes but almost each one out does the other and the ones that dont experiment in fun ways still. I give this show a 10 out of 10, 9 out of ten if im being super critical. Its gonna be hard to top this irl, deadpool and wolverine gets the imagery and fun of what this show is but even dp&w doesnt have the family dynamic and true emotional weight that the xmen should have. This show does more than pack a punch, it does a Wesley Snipes kick into a Jean Van Damm split pose. Near perfection.

The creator of this season i think his name is Beau DeMayo! and he also appears in one of the episode so watch out for that. he really did that. But saddly i think he was fired dont know if it was because he open an onlyfans? or soemthing of that nature not sure. i hope they bring him back to do the other next season.
I think it would have been completely defendable for the doctor to be afraid of getting exploded by someone by accident. It would be interesting if a doctor volunteered to donate his expertise to rogue, because she's durable enough to deliver a baby when a telekinetic savant might pop a normie. A dilemma would be the rest of the patients after that doctor's donation who have to wait because of the long recovery time induced by rogue's touch. They didn't need to paint the doctor as a bigot, the situation could have screwed everyone over at once, and created an ally in the medical field.
regarding the way morph looks now. morph has been changed to resemble their appearance in the comics. specifically in the Exiles comics where they were a major character for i believe it's entire run.
Let's stop and appreciate how powerful Storm is. She turned the sands into glass by super heating them using lightning bolts then used them by combining it with the tornado while destroying the Sentinels for good measure! 😍

This show is one of the most overrated things ive seen in my life, and im not surprised, Disney needed this to be well received, after all the next MCU step is going to be the Xmen, they needed to build hype. This show is so bad that it could be called Magneto97 and it would be more accurated. It was wrote by a guy who spends all fucking days talking about how amazing Magneto is, he literally took his 14 years old fanfics about Magneto and put them all together in a show that had to be about the Xmen. It shits on the original animated series it supposedly "honors", making a lot of its characters being OUT OF CHARACTER (Rogue is unrecognizible in this show), sidelining others (Poor Storm) and not giving a fuck about stablished relationships between characters. Half the things that happen in this show makes no sense if you watched the original or even if you havent, It adapts a LOT of different plots from comics into a single season of just 10 episodes making it a mess. But ofc, you will hear it is an amazing show... Apparently nowadays the only requeriment you need to make an "amazing show" is put drama on it, lets kill some characters, force illogical love triangles and make characters take questionable decissions (Rogue again, being out of character the whole season for the sake of drama). This is absolute bullshit, im just glad the guy who made this Magneto fanfic was fired, he never deserved to put his hands on these characters.
Every single thing in this show has happened in the comics, soooo... It *is* accurate; Magneto has *always* been their most prominent character and as of the last 15 or so years has been a good guy(He actually died saving the universe in the comics, maybe 2 or 3 years ago, and was always the one defending mutants when shit went wrong. The mutants basically created a whole separated dimension to live in with no humans and became an official country with Magneto on that council as well because mutant kind trusted him to protect them more than Charles, who was *also* on that council. The only mutant that canonically has more support is Cyclops, without him almost all mutants always choose to follow or believe in Magneto; *humans* are the ones with a problem with him.)

These characters ARE faithful because the writer DOES care, he simply found new ways to introduce preexisting stories by using characters that were already in the show. It more seems like you have a hard-on for hating Magneto entirely and nothing to do with the show itself(especially since Magneto being this prominent is purely from fans' perspective; in reality he had just as much, if not less, screen time than Scott and Jean). Not to mention that saying that making a show based on a prominent character is "not okay" says a whole lot about how much you get in your own way of enjoying any media ever, because X-men's entire thing is that they always make spin-off(sometimes even original) stories about EVERY CHARACTER at some point. Also, Magneto being their most prominent character is not a "belief" it is factual information, if you were to ask a vast majority of people who know nothing about superheroes to name characters from X-men then Wolverine, Cyclops, Xavier and Magneto are consistently the first answers(welcome to how general popularity works, you're either new here or have a very big kink for hating on popular content for simply *being* popular).

Edit: Juggernaut is *also* on the X-men team and has been for just about as long as Mags has; I'm pretty sure he is still actively part of the team in comics right now, too.

based on what you said to the preview for the series i was waiting eagerly for you guys to watch it. i'm glad to see you are watching it now. though i have to say contrats on somehow managing to avoid spoilers all this time because this show generated so much talk between episidoes. especially with just how good it is. it literally just keeps getting better.
The interesting thing about Magneto in comics and this cartoon, both original and now, if a random person in the universe out there thinks of a mutant, he probably is the face that pops in their head as he is high profile, hero, villain, terrorist? Magneto has been it all for better or for worse and his status as a front man for mutant kind, you sometimes have to take what you are given.

I need more, cant wait til you get to the heavy hitting episodes but almost each one out does the other and the ones that dont experiment in fun ways still. I give this show a 10 out of 10, 9 out of ten if im being super critical. Its gonna be hard to top this irl, deadpool and wolverine gets the imagery and fun of what this show is but even dp&w doesnt have the family dynamic and true emotional weight that the xmen should have. This show does more than pack a punch, it does a Wesley Snipes kick into a Jean Van Damm split pose. Near perfection.

I think it would have been completely defendable for the doctor to be afraid of getting exploded by someone by accident. It would be interesting if a doctor volunteered to donate his expertise to rogue, because she's durable enough to deliver a baby when a telekinetic savant might pop a normie. A dilemma would be the rest of the patients after that doctor's donation who have to wait because of the long recovery time induced by rogue's touch. They didn't need to paint the doctor as a bigot, the situation could have screwed everyone over at once, and created an ally in the medical field.

This show is one of the most overrated things ive seen in my life, and im not surprised, Disney needed this to be well received, after all the next MCU step is going to be the Xmen, they needed to build hype.
This show is so bad that it could be called Magneto97 and it would be more accurated. It was wrote by a guy who spends all fucking days talking about how amazing Magneto is, he literally took his 14 years old fanfics about Magneto and put them all together in a show that had to be about the Xmen.
It shits on the original animated series it supposedly "honors", making a lot of its characters being OUT OF CHARACTER (Rogue is unrecognizible in this show), sidelining others (Poor Storm) and not giving a fuck about stablished relationships between characters.
Half the things that happen in this show makes no sense if you watched the original or even if you havent, It adapts a LOT of different plots from comics into a single season of just 10 episodes making it a mess.
But ofc, you will hear it is an amazing show... Apparently nowadays the only requeriment you need to make an "amazing show" is put drama on it, lets kill some characters, force illogical love triangles and make characters take questionable decissions (Rogue again, being out of character the whole season for the sake of drama). This is absolute bullshit, im just glad the guy who made this Magneto fanfic was fired, he never deserved to put his hands on these characters.

It *is* accurate; Magneto has *always* been their most prominent character and as of the last 15 or so years has been a good guy(He actually died saving the universe in the comics, maybe 2 or 3 years ago, and was always the one defending mutants when shit went wrong. The mutants basically created a whole separated dimension to live in with no humans and became an official country with Magneto on that council as well because mutant kind trusted him to protect them more than Charles, who was *also* on that council. The only mutant that canonically has more support is Cyclops, without him almost all mutants always choose to follow or believe in Magneto; *humans* are the ones with a problem with him.)

Just, lets make Rogue out of character once again.
And no, even if you believe Magneto is their most prominent character, that doesnt mean its okay to take a show, and make one of their former villain, wich wasnt even par of the group, their new leader and the main focus of the show, and what makes the decission more questionable is going to the stupid writer social media and see him talking about how perfect is Magneto all fucking day.
A good writer respects the characters, this guy just copy pasted his fanfics from 15 years ago, he is obsessed with Magneto and he doesnt give a fuck about the rest of the cast, the way you wrote what you wrote, makes it clear you are a magneto fanboy, and honestly, even if you are a magneto fanboy, you should be able to notice how unbalanced this show in terms of protagonism. I love Wolverine and I hate when he gets more attention than the rest of the cast combined.

@@bloodworkdc2106 There are several X-men verse stories that center around Magneto, this is not nearly the first time this has happened. These characters ARE faithful because the writer DOES care, he simply found new ways to introduce preexisting stories by using characters that were already in the show.
It more seems like you have a hard-on for hating Magneto entirely and nothing to do with the show itself(especially since Magneto being this prominent is purely from fans' perspective; in reality he had just as much, if not less, screen time than Scott and Jean). Not to mention that saying that making a show based on a prominent character is "not okay" says a whole lot about how much you get in your own way of enjoying any media ever, because X-men's entire thing is that they always make spin-off(sometimes even original) stories about EVERY CHARACTER at some point.
Also, Magneto being their most prominent character is not a "belief" it is factual information, if you were to ask a vast majority of people who know nothing about superheroes to name characters from X-men then Wolverine, Cyclops, Xavier and Magneto are consistently the first answers(welcome to how general popularity works, you're either new here or have a very big kink for hating on popular content for simply *being* popular).
@@bloodworkdc2106 Side note(because I just remembered): Magneto led the X-men before in the comics(I'm pretty sure) and also led them in that "X-men evolution" show, but I think they had more time to establish the "why" and "how" in those stories since they were much more long running than the 10 episodes we were allowed for *this* show(everything had to be rushed and shortened to fit).
Edit: Juggernaut is *also* on the X-men team and has been for just about as long as Mags has; I'm pretty sure he is still actively part of the team in comics right now, too.
