Let’s fight a bunch of bosses! This feels like 3D World’s iteration with that chaos and cheap cutscenes
For the record, I think the best order is Madame Broodal, Bowser, the dragon, then either the UFO thing or the octopus thing, then the other.
The reason the UFO thing and the octopus thing should be last is because the octopus thing is (as far as I know) the only one capable of giving hearts (making him a useful healing option) and his attacks rarely get in the way (so you can afford to leave him till later), while the UFO thing is dormant until you deal a full amount of damage for the first time (so it won’t get in the way while you deal with everything else). Madame Broodal should be first since she has the most mobility and constantly chases you directly rather than either staying in one place or moving away from you, so she’ll constantly get in the way of dealing with other bosses. Bowser should come next because his attacks are more likely to get in the way, he moves around a lot (and, unlike the octopus thing, you don’t have the option of using ranged attacks to get around that), and it’s a pain to deal damage to him since all the blows in a round have to be dealt essentially consecutively to actually damage him.
Normally, the dragon would be one I’d recommend dealing with earlier, but his attacks seem to be nerfed by the stage boundary. I think this is because the stage you normally fight him on is larger than this one, so the homing effects of his attacks are calculated assuming there’s more room than there actually is, causing them to hit the boundary of the stage and then vanish. Additionally, he’s stationary (so his attack angles can be tracked even when you’re not looking at him, plus the initial attack range (not counting the resulting homing disks or the shockwaves that come later) have a relatively short range, making it easier to dodge his attacks in this particular arena), and once you remove a sword thing from his head, it stays gone until you actually deal damage to him, and removing each sword thing is pretty easy and can be done quickly, meaning you don’t have to worry about being interrupted while damaging him (unlike with Madame Broodal-where you have to capture her Chain Chomp, pull back far enough to get tension (during which she’ll spend some time chasing after you, which makes it harder to get that tension), then release to deal damage, and getting knocked out of the Chain Chomp means you have to recapture it and try again-or Bowser-where you have to flip and then don his hat, get close to him, punch him a bunch of times, dodge his tail swipe(s) if necessary, then punch him one last time to deal damage; if he jumps away or give him enough time to recover, your earlier punches that round don’t count anymore, and if you lose the hat somehow, not only do those punches no longer count but you have to regain the hat; in both cases, dealing one full bit of damage is time consuming, and your movement is severely limited while you’re preparing to do so).
Honestly, the dragon would be even further down the list of priorities except for a few things:
1) The octopus thing is the only one that can produce hearts, so after defeating it, you no longer have the ability to heal (unless you’re playing in Assist Mode, but more on that later).
2) The octopus thing’s attacks are even less likely to be an obstacle, at least around ground level.
3) The UFO thing is completely dormant and will not interfere with any of the other fights at all until you deal the first round of damage to it, and since defeating it doesn’t offer any benefits that would make handling any other bosses easier, it’s just easier to leave it until there is at most one other boss left.
4) The UFO thing can only be damaged by possessing an Uproot, and while doing so, you are completely vulnerable to both ground and aerial attacks (since attacks that hit its legs still damage you) which, when combined with the Uproot’s slow movement when walking, makes it very easy for the other bosses to hit you while you’re trying to damage the UFO thing.
5. Unless you are possessing either the Gushen or the Uproot, it is very difficult to avoid the UFO thing’s attacks, and while the UFO thing is stationary and its attacks always come from the same place, they all spread out over the entire stage, meaning that once the UFO thing gets made aware of Mario’s presence, it will interfere with just about every other boss fight regardless of where you are.
Now, if you’re playing in Assist Mode, the optimal order changes in one significant manner: the octopus thing should go first.
See, there are two things (besides the fact that it sometimes drops hearts) that make the octopus thing unique among the boss fights in this challenge.
1. That boss fight is almost entirely in the air (pretty far up, in fact), and the only ones capable of damaging you while you’re higher than triple jump height (which the octopus fight is) are the UFO thing-which only attacks when damaged anyways-and the octopus thing himself, which means that, while fighting the octopus thing, the presence or lack thereof of any or even all of the other bosses has no effect on that challenge; they’re basically a nonissue during that fight.
2. After defeating the octopus thing, a Warp Pipe appears in the arena that connects to a far-off giant bottle. While in or on the cork to that bottle, none of the bosses can damage you at all, meaning you can just stay there as long as you want without consequences (unless you’re not in Assist Mode and stay underwater long enough to drown); this provides a safe haven that can be accessed at any time. (The pipe has the added benefit of letting you stand on it to dodge low-profile grounded attacks like Bowser’s or the dragon’s shockwaves or the lowest of the UFO thing’s shockwaves, and it further disrupts the homing projectiles the dragon uses.)
Now, normally, these two factors wouldn’t be enough to elevate it to high-priority since it is the only one that can give hearts, making it necessary for healing. But in Assist Mode, you can heal all the way to full health just by standing still long enough without getting hit or moving (including walking, throwing Cappy, jumping, or crouching), so as long as there is a safe place to AFK for a little bit, you have an additional healing option that is even more reliable than the octopus thing’s chance of giving hearts, and it just so happens that defeating allows you easy access to such a safe place to wait to heal up to full health, making getting hearts unnecessary. Combined with the fact that you’re basically safe from the other bosses while you’re attacking the octopus thing, and it’s clear that the octopus should be defeated first. This has the added advantage of removing another obstacle in the other boss fights. (You also have more max health in Assist Mode, so healing is less of a necessity.)
This makes things a whole lot easier. You can now fight three of the five bosses essentially one-on-one without having to worry about the other bosses: the octopus thing (since the other bosses can’t really hurt you while you’re up there fighting it), the dragon (since the only other boss that would be there would be the UFO thing, and that won’t do anything beyond simply floating in one place unless you damage it, which you can’t do by accident since that requires you to possess an Uproot, and there is no reason to possess an Uproot until you decide to attack the UFO thing), and the UFO thing (since there would be no other bosses left by that point); only Madame Broodal and Bowser would have to be fought while worrying about other bosses (and even then it’d be one fewer boss than otherwise). You’d also have more health and a more reliable (non-RNG-based) method of healing and a bonus method of avoiding difficult attacks should you get overwhelmed.
The only downside is that the Warp Pipe spawns directly opposite the dragon, so if you decide to hide from or evade an attack from the dragon using the pipe or to heal and then the dragon rests its head (which is the only time it’s vulnerable), you’ll be about as far away from the dragon’s head (and thus weak-point) as you can be once you return to the arena, giving you less time on average to remove the sword things and/or ground-pound its weak-spot before it raises its head again and goes back to attacking. Thankfully, removing a sword thing takes very little time, and removed sword things stay removed until you ground-pound its weak-spot on the top of its head (and thus deal damage) afterwards, so you don’t have to remove all the sword things and ground-pound its weak-spot in a single cycle.

Unfortunately these bosses are too easy because of the life system Odyssey has. But this is still a great All Bosses at Once mod! Interesting there wasn't errors like in 3DW for having too much bosses.
The game does apparently crash if you add any more bosses, so it's really similar!

I’m guessing they removed the life system because people were frustrated when they get a game over. Bowsers Fury did the same.
@@traviscunningham7062 I feel like that’s just Nintendo hand holding. Just stick to the traditional 1-ups because it gets rid of difficulty. That’s the one thing I feel mixed about Odyssey introducing.

I note that you did not include Knucklotep, Mecha-Wiggler, that bird thing, or any of the Broodal fights. I can fully understand the bird thing (that fight takes place entirely on lava, so it’s entirely incompatible with the other boss fights) as well as Mecha-Wiggler and-to a lesser extent-Knucklotep (as those bosses are often meant to be hit with attacks outside the arena), but it seems weird not to have any of the Broodals.
Really great question! This mod was made by a friend (I've only made "all bosses" in Super Mario 3D World, not in Super Mario Odyssey yet) and I was told that the game crashes if you add any more bosses! So this isn't every boss in the game at once, but all 5 bosses in this mod are fought together 🤷♀

Yes, I could definitely see that as a problem. It was clearly struggling given the oddity with the octopus guy not doing his intro with the others, and the missing bosses are likely pretty resource intensive.
Hmmm… Perhaps a door to another area that contains other bosses could be added… After all, I’m pretty sure that going through a door would unload existing entities and then load in entities in the destination area. That might prevent the game from crashing…
It’s just an idea, though. Not having any personal experience with modding, I’m not exactly an expert on what will or won’t work, but it might be worth looking into.
@@bhull242 Yeah, great thinking! Doing something exactly like that could work, and some people have done stuff like that for "All levels combined mods" - where progressing past a certain point loads the next part of the map and unloads previous parts of the map
