Great demo! Fuse Audio is among the very best developers out there and always has my interest when a new product is released but your video really did justice to the way it works. Ray has raised the bar BIG TIME with this one!
Great review, surprised how much Fuse left out of their own product. I have more than enough channel strips, BUT this one has great features that i don’t think i can let slip at this price! Hope it’s not a CPU hog.
Tasty! I just bought The Unichannel form United Plugins and I'll have to try this too. It's always cool when they release a plugin and the price is under 50 Euros, this is actually under 30 Euros, hahahaha. That's how much most plugins should cost IMHO. thanks for the video! I don't have a band!!!
another excellent review - Fuse has great stuff (love their free spring reverb and Dozer-Driver), and for $29 the VCA-1 is a screaming good deal - the extra band in the EQ section is nice - a few minor UI quibbles (I really like it when double-clicking a control returns to a default value, and I like being able to enter values manually if desired), but other than that it's great
@@LonelyRocker indeed - unfortunately, as I've played around with it some more, I'm a little worried that there might be some other issues that need to be addressed in future versions - I've compared with a couple of other channel strip plugins I have (the Plugin Alliance Brainworx bx_console N and the United Plugins UniChannel, which you reviewed recently), and when I set them all up as closely as possible, the VCS-1 doesn't sound like the other two at all, and not in a good way - I could certainly be doing something wrong, but I've gone through it pretty carefully and can't find anything wrong - the other two sound "similar but subtly different", but the VSC-1 is just too different and not quite right - I'll keep an eye out for updates...
This looks and sounds like a great plugin and only $29, you can easily spend more on something not quite as good . I get this one really good GUI I can squeeze this one on this month's budget.
Great demo! I actually liked your demo better than the mfg's. On vocals their demo sounded better without the plugin engaged. Nevertheless...I have one comment to make. I never cared about gain matching until very recently and your demo is a good example of why I now do care. Your tracks sound great without the plugin and even better with the plugin but there is an obvious volume and presence difference with it engaged. I'm wondering if you just bumped up the gain and presence in your DAW or while tracking and see if you get the same result. I promise I'm not being negative. I'm going to go buy this plugin right now based on your demo but with your skills I bet you could get the desired results without the plugin. Hope that makes sense.
Thank you for your thoughts. Much appreciated. You make good points. the struggle with gain matching is it forces me to do something that unnatural. Gain staging is critical ina. mix, I did a whole video about that, but when mixing, I'm not attempting to find unity while mixing. In fact, often I want the gain bump. I prefer to use the plugin over the fader in this case. So back to you point, and thank you for your comment about my sounds pre-plugin, but what you hear is a result of 'my" choices and decisions using this plugin. Even if I gain matched I don't think it would paint a clearer picture. This is why I prefer reviewing plugins with free trials. So you can try it for yourself :)
Thank you for a great video. I am probably that idiot that wants to compare in equal levels :) However, I must say that, for my ears, the final mix is very harsh and the treble is really annoying. I think you should take it easier on the mid hi, and hi. Hope you'll enjoy this critisicm. Greetz from Sweden!
Thank you. And I'm always open to constructive criticism. The challenge with these videos is simply time. If I gave the mix the time it needed I wouldn't get the video done. But it's a catch 22 because the video is about the audio. It's a fine line!! But thank you for your time on this...it's very much appreciated...
Unity gain might be useful if you are starting out. Other than that, nobody cares. You can either mix or you can't. You either know what you want and like what the gear does, or you don't.
✅✅✅💥💥💥 Check out my interview with the owner and plugin developer of FUSE AUDIO LABS: th-cam.com/video/q813bHXf1ts/w-d-xo.html
Excellent review. Bought and am loving this plugin.
Thank you so much!! Enjoy the plugin!

Thanks so much and I totally agree!!
Great review as always. I love a good channel strip. I'm headed over to get a copy now. Keep the reviews coming
Thanks so much!! And enjoy it!

Thanks! As it’s brand new I’m certain we will see enhancements to it over time. Enjoy it!
Great review !!! The VCS-1 is great !!!
Thanks! Yes it's awesome. I still use it all the time!

Thanks! I got the scoop on both of those plugins. Funny. This plug-in is insane. Really love it.
I like your song in this video! Nice work!
Glad you enjoy it! :)))))

Thanks so much!! Keep in mind this is version 1 of the plugin. I'm sure we'll see little improvements going forward as feedback comes in...

Maybe you're giving it too much thought? The VCS-1 was not designed to sound like anything else. But it's all subjective...that's fair...

actually it sounded "better" without because they actually were aiming for a vintage lofi vibe. They confirmed it on their channel/video.
CS5501V2 vs VSC-1?
Never used the CS550. I should check it out...
A question: Did you check the audio you were using to demonstrate in mono?
I may have quickly but these reviews get produced pretty quickly and the music was made custom for the video. For full song productions I do.
Indeed, the audio is out of phase.
Nice environment...
Thank you :)
Scheps Omni killer.
Maybe!! Killed it for me :)
