On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

G.O.A.T. Fight! (Greatest Of All Time!)
You flying the Grinelli F-22 against Longshot in the SU-57 Felon, the Felon he used in your video "This is How the Top Gun Su-57 would have really gone down." The way the Felon flew in that video looked like Grinelli made it! A Thrust Vectoring Felon! So why not pit these two super planes against each other.
If you thought that kill the Eurofighter got against the Grinelli F-22 was incredible, we all might see something just as cool or cooler in this dogfight.
How come there hasn't been anything with the F-35 in a long time
Day 90, when will we see F35C vs F/A-18F Super Hornet?
2 v 2 would be magnificent to experience. 4 aircraft merging, trying to shoot down one another as well as covering one another.

it's impressive as all hell that a bird as big as the F14 is able to kinda keep up with a purpose-built dogfighter like the F16
If GS was in the F-16 this would have been a very different fight. GS is a great pilot so he can win these underdog fights!

I had the opportunity a couple of times to fight the F-14B (back then it was the A+) while I was in VF-126 in the F-16N. The F-14A+ crew was pretty experienced, but it seemed to be no contest in favor of the F-16N. Our normal start for 1v1 was 1.5 miles abeam, 350 kias, or as briefed.
From my understanding those F-16Ns were worn out pretty quickly by its pilots, an interesting plane.

BTW, FYI, Ward Carroll, former F-14 RIO who spent 20 years in the back seat, is subscribed to your channel =). He was going over the Top Gun Maverick final fight on his channel yesterday and showed that the idle + afterburner split throttle only rolled the F-14 (in DCS) and a lot of people recommended him to your channel, to which he replied he's already subscribed ^_^
So yeah. That's absolutely awesome that you're followed by some of the people that spent many years in the real jet!

That was i feel the epitome of the channel name lol, that 3rd fight, having a Tomcat get into a rate fight with a Falcon, pulling harder- waiting for the sun to move, while a GROWLING SIDEWINDER waits for the smaller heat source before taking out the Falcon in it's preferred element. Lol, That bit right there is a clip GS should use for like a montage LOL.
Can't beat that moment.

Awesome fight in round two. You had me there for a sec, all the shaking in the cockpit and the f-14 fighting you, and then you just stick to maneuvers and splash him with that forced overshoot. Well played!

I think it would be really cool if GS would start doing some warbird dogfights in IL-2. I have been messing around with dogfighting with my friend recently and the P-51 feels like the F-16. The P-51 is just extremely good at rate fighting, but not much else. 109s feel like delta wing planes because they are very good in the 1 circle.
Surely try out the new aim54, its a lot less powerful that before, its basically on par with the sd10, but still a bit better than the amraam, so a bvr fight with the F16 would be cool! 👍

I really enjoy the experience of you learning the limits of what new tricks let you do in the F-14
I would like to have seen a couple of rounds with the aircraft reversed. It seems to me that among your friends you are the top dog, and it would be a good exercise to do the reverse fight to show what all is aircraft capability and what is pilot capability.
i sometimes wonder if a modernized f-14 would be the best gen 4.5..
Why? There is nothing about the F-14 that would make it fundamentally better than other 4.5gen aircraft. It wasn't even the best 4th gen aircraft.
You generally don't make the best new thing by adapting the old thing, you make the best new thing by making it from scratch so you're not stuck working with any old and outdated ideas like variable-sweep wings for instance.
@@wurfyy it was fast, had long legs, could carry a lot of ordinance, had room for the biggest radar you could get, and had the airframe to handle dogfights. With modern avionics, it would be on par with the other Gen 4.5's.
im pretty sure it could be one of the best 4.5 gen, because it would have everything, good maneuverability, an AMAZING radar, with a new fly-by-wire system it would be a lot more smooth to fly, it could use AIM-120D, AIM-9X
all your maneuvers make so much sense and yet at the same time i know i would never be able to think to do that

Hey GS. I'm dying to see the F-22, F-35, or Su-57 flexing their stealth by taking on an objective-based strike mission, like the one you flew in the Mirage to knock out the soviet bomber on the runway. It seems like that's the kind of mission architecture stealth is most useful for, so it would be cool to see what kind of a tactical advantage it affords.
Were you using differential thrust on those? Just out of curiosity. Great video as always GS!

I just got done going to the USS Alabama in mobile bay. Saw an f14, f15, f16, f105, f4, and an sr71, all sitting next to each other. No shit. I was giddy. They were slated for restoration, so not pretty. But they were beautiful.

I love a good underdog fight with the F-14.. all that rolling and shaking makes me wonder how differently it would have been if it was upgraded with FBW...
I was listening to a tomcat pilot interview and he mentioned the wing seep is based on Mach. He said although you might be doing Mach 0.8 up high your airspeed might be mid 200's, you could manually push the wings forward without problems and really get the plane to turn./emergency override

The F16 should be a better rate fighter than the F14 despite the F14 also favoring the rate fight in theory but the F14's big advantage is that it has flexibility and more options so this is exactly how I would expect things to go. Gotta use those options to get the F16 in an unfavorable position.
For a big girl she still manages to dance with the best.

nope, still use it as needed, mostly slow speeds to help roll the aircraft over.

The F-14B/D was an awesome WVR fighter, and an even better BVR fighter . I would love to see it in action against the SU-35.
