- Today we are looking at a simple way to convert your old matting with the new dream mat and rubber bumpers or timber channel.
nothing flash just some ideas to help you convert your old systems.

Great video! The two pieces of wood in the one sluice do you clamp them down when you're sluicing or how do you hold those in place? You just laid them on each side of the mat not sure what you were doing.
What was the rubber called that you used on the sides? You were rattling metal around and I could not make out what you said. I have a 7 inch sluice and a 6 inch dream mat so I need to modify my sluice I looked on your sight for a 6" mat clamp but your smallest is 8" and I am not sure how hard it would be to cut one down to 6" then drill a hole through my sluice to fasten it. My sluice came with miners moss and riffles I think I am going to much prefer the dream mat.

not sure what you mean mate, the gold would most likely follow the path its given and end up on the mats but if i got a heap of gold captured under the clamp all the better cos i ahve it and its mine :)

I bought a trommel with this mat pre installed along with gold hog mat. I performed a cleanup of the two different mats separately, and the hog mat at the end of my sluice had most, if not all of the gold. What could be going on?
Adam Graves hey Adam theres alot that could be going on. but first id ask what material you are feeding, does your trommel do a good job at liberating the gold before it gets to the sluice and how much water is over the mat what angle is it set to fall and is it smooth coming from the trommel feed?
Material - 1/4" clay, heavy dirt, etc. I am mining an old gold mine area. The trommel does a great job of cleaning the material before it reaches the sluice. Water flow - 2000 gph bilge pump. Angle 5" with a sluice of 5ft long
Adam Graves ok so if your trommel is liberating the gold and its not being liberated while passing over the mats then dirt won't be carrying gold off. 2000 gph is not nearly enough water for that system and 5 degrees of fall is nowhere near enough fall. both dream mat and goldhog mats both need fall closer to 9 or 10 degree. you are literally loading your mats up and everything passes right over them. i would suggest if you have the 8 inch mate your pump is just enough but you also need to pool your water at the head of your sluice. if using a 10 inch 3000gph+ and 12inch wide mat i wouldnt even use a bilge pump but if you have to 4700gph min. long and the short of it 5 degrees has no cleaning action to drive the vortex

It comes equipped with the 2000 gph pump, the dream mat in the front and the end flares out with the hog mat. I am just using what came with the outfit
I hear ya mate, shame its only god 2000gph thats really not enough. not to mention that you wont get 2000gph with that much lift either. I'm going to post a video later talking about the importance of pooling water and using a reverse riffle. hit subscribe so you see when it goes up it might help you but for my money id get yourself a petrol pump or a 3000gph at least.
I know this is a big ask mate but where in the hell can you get your own mat profiles made ? I have some ideas of my own too but have not found any one who can pull this off thanks for the video mate very intuitive and congrats on the matting ! :)
hey brad so many places to start. you would need to draw up your design in an industry standard model using software like dreamworks. them get quotes for tooling i.e machining of moulds then test your moulds and see if your design works with the mould of if you need to make more changes that aide in the demoulding process then work out what products to use for your mat. i couldnt tell you how much David the designer spent getting to the point where he was able to supply me with a finished design. but i spent thousands setting up the Australian urethane lab for these. if i had to design something on the cheap id probably go with timber and fiberglass resin as a cheap way to test some theories
Wow !! thanks for the fast response ! yeah new it would be a fair bit of work ! my cousin and I are both in the metal industry ! he's the machinist I'm the boilermaker lol but I have been slowly working on a little project that I think will require some thing unique just get the gold ! thanks mate for the help cheers

well thats handy as hell mate, second biggest cost is tooling so if you can scrounge up some a few meters of 3 inch ally and can machine it out your laughing. learning the different programs everyone uses was the hard bit for me, then came the shock when looking at urethane..... seems to be cheap in the us, not here sadly. i just had a look at your videos mate, you need a dream mat at oallen :) got a bloke using it down there hes never seen so much pepper gold.
ha ha !! yeah well I have been using the Gold hog mats too lol !! but with the little one Im making ! I have to go with some thing of my own !! how much do you charge for a sheet of it ?! I'll have crack once I'm walking again lol Im laid up with a broken leg at the moment !

no i haven't there's nothing wrong with it, its just got a great microphone so you can hear the autofocus when recording. it doens't really bother me that much its a samsung NX11

oh no i did not say there was something wrong with it.
just saying there is Always room for improvement.
that sound obviously happens because they have no rubber padding.
it's hard plastic parts moving other hard plastic parts.
well you cnat really hear it unless you are recording. maybe i'll get it looked at. thanks for the tips

Here is my opinion all all these new ways to capture gold,,, first of all you must find gold, and now that you’ve found it ,your going to spend it on something that makes some funky looking curvey loop. The old way is just as good and probably better. Stop being tricked
Well progress is how we move forward and science and technology are why we see huge increases in recovery and profitability of mines. Its not a fad curly design its high tech recovery executed with simple elegant physics. No ones telling you its the only way but its sure nice seeing all the superfine gold coming out that couldn't be caught in the past and if the old timers ways were so efficient we wouldnt have so much left to chase

@@billcoley8520 are we talking about real world mining or tv? Alot of these tv shows they run mesh and moss and they dont show that the steel wears round in several weeks and has to be replaced. While on the downside or needing replacement losses increase. Yes in that type of plant with old teck its very common for acceptable losses to be 30% . If were talking real world miners they are using modern systems and are actively always looking for improvement in recovery. Dream mat has provided the solution for thousands of miners. You wont see them all on scripted tv series though
