Saddest moment in Mother 3 is when it didn't relase in Japan, not even on the latest Nintendo Direct (2/10) where they re-released Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings

Just the thought of a whole community coming together to make a translation of mother 3 is wild on its own
Note on the art academy cards: there was actually 200 of each printed, but only 100 were given to winners, we know this because the winner of some of these cards never sold more than couple copies but there are SIGNIFICANTLY more on the market, leading to the belief that employees kept the extra 100 cards instead of destroying them or giving them to the winners.
Pokémon puzzle league was probably one of the most played games on our N64… although I could never beat my brother’s high score.

Well I’m gonna nitpick but around 30 seconds in the video you made a mistake Hal Lab isn’t a subsidiary of Nintendo they just have a close relationship. Hal is still an independent studio like intelligent system and Gamefreak. Until Microsoft decides to buy them all

HOWEVER, I do think it's possible Nintendo could develop a remake for Switch with reimagined elements and release that worldwide.
Maybe re-releasing the first two games on NSO in the recent Nintendo Direct could be getting people ready for an announcement this year...

Mother 3 is a horrible slog and largely not fun to play if you're tone deaf to beats of a buried melody and/or have poor timing to hit them when you do. It's why I don't bother with the game after trying it years ago when Tomato did it. I really wish they hadn't gimped the game with such a stupid mechanic as it's definitely not optional if you don't want to get spent on dragged out fights.
Here's a quick fact: Did you know Kirby's Creator, M. Sakurai made the First Kirby Dreamland the same date as mine. Mine is 4/27/1992. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirby%27s_Dream_Land. Japanese release date.
Its crazy how dedicated some fan bases are that they have people willimg to translate games that never get an english release, like mother 3.
In fact, i played zero no kiseki and azure no kiseki by nihon falcom with a fan made translation patch. Thank the geofront.
The coolest thing is now nihin falcom has hire the geofront team to help with an offical translation that release this year, which im super happy about. The kiseki, aka trails series is my absolute favorite gaming series.
Mother 3 broke me then reconstructed me anew. I was never the same after Mother 3. It took something away from me and then gave me something more valuable to hold onto. Even though it feels like a pain in my chest, I would never let go of nor hope to forget it ever.

every single person i know who has played mother 3, has cried at mother 3. the themes and writing got me through tough times when i had lost hope. mother 3 is the only way to reach true enlightenment, and i truly believe only those who have played mother 3 will make it into the kingdom of heaven. mother 3 is love. mother 3 is life.

Never knew what Mother 3 was all about. All I can say is…..WTF.
It's a beautiful game. Even as someone that typically doesn't care for straightforward RPGs like this, I'd still recommend it if you like a deep and emotional story, or if you're just a fan of GBA graphics and music.

Yeah, makes it all the more frustrating. Nerrel video is great, but it talks about every single plot detail, so i would HIGHLY recomend you play it first, there's no game such as mother 3, i love earthbound and even begginings, but it's easy for me to admit that mother 3 is the best, by far.

Yo, you should tell me more about Joy-mecha fight on NES. I found that when skimming random nes roms once upon a time and it is honestly a great lil nes fighting game. How it never made it to the US is beyond me.

Fun fact though: Reggie actually recently stated that it was business decision to not localize Mother 3. Nintendo is afraid they won’t make enough money off of it. Which I find a shame considering that a lot of us would buy it. 😕
I'm of the super minority that doesn't care if Mother 3 gets released here, because I've already beaten the game in English... But at the same time, I do want more people to experience it, and I want Itoi to get the praise he deserves.

Thank god for the dedication of fans who translate these games, and release patches for us to experience some hidden gems.
The Geofront did this with mutliple games from Nihon Falcom, which is how I played the 2 games never release in English. The coolest part, Nihon Falcoms hired NIS America to make an offical english release of both games, and they hired some of the people from The Geofront too help. It was a really cool but lesser known moment in gaming, and i cant wait to replay them, they're releasing the first of the two games this year.
Its really cool because the first trilogy, trails in the sky trilogy, had english releases. So did the third saga, trails of cold steel. But the middle arch never did until now.
Also, defintely some games I would recommend to any jrpg fan. The world building and story is amazing. The battle system is kinda standard but also fun. Better than anything ive ever play imo. Beats ff, dragon quest, pokemon, mother/earth bound, tales of, persona, and really any other jrpg I can think of.

Remakes of these games are very possible, especially considering the current trend of classic RPG remakes and the fact Nintendo has remade other RPGs many times before.
@@davetheimpaler204 Earthbound games don't sell well in the states. Kids probably won't play it as itd take a lot of marketing to get their attention while a few fans like yourself only need to hear about it through the online grapevine. It's just not feasible.

Im sure Devs just randomely put shit thats hard to stumble across in their games sometimes. SOme are found, some might never. Like imagine you hold L + A + R 8 times in a row while the game is somewhere specific and you have to do it for 3 different characters and then you find a treasure hunt for something horrific. WE just never know whats out there waiting to be discovered, in the Twilight Zone.

Ok this is absolutely for the Steam deck giveaway, but honestly I wanna express all my gratitude for your Earthbound/Mother and Sonic, and Nights into Dreams Fact videos. Its so exciting when I get the notif of you guys cover one of my favorite game series, and I get to listen to video bundled with a bunch of facts and trivia I'd have to scour a dedicated wiki for all for hours.
I think my favorite fact was in your Nights into Dreams video, where you guys mentioned the Nights team basing their idea for Nights themselves off that dream psychologist's work, and how Elliot and Claire were based off the male and female human. psyche.
Fun fact of my own, I tried repeating that same fact to some friends in a chatroom when I was a teen and wrote Enema and Enemus instead of Anima and Animus and got embarrassingly corrected by someone I wasn't fond of...🙃
