Portuguese here ! We get along well with Spain, we are both really peaceful countries,but we have a lot of historie together where we kind of didn't get along that well.
Portugal began as a territorie in the north of Portugal called Condado Portucalense given to D.Henrique who married a "Spanish" princesse who would be later on the fathers of the first king of Portugal, D.Afonso Henriques.
The thing is at that time Spain , wasn't even Spain,it was divided in a bunch of territories.
Really interesting story ,you should check it out Tekking ! We are one of the oldest countries in the world ( I think we have the oldest borders in the world) and for a little country we did a lot in the world , especially during the the XV centurie.
By the way , if you visit Portugal ,please visit Porto , it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world,you would not regret.

@@hangsolong8180 Macau was portuguese territory, but Portugal released all their colonies.
And I'm glad we did, a lot of people think that the navigators like Vasco da Gama where some kind of heroes ,but in the end they were crappy people from what some registers say,and didn't treat people from other countries that well unfortunately.
But we are a completely different country right now.

@@hangsolong8180 Lisbon is nice ,but there are much better places to visit, Porto is the most beautiful city, Madeira and açores (the islands) are incredibly too,and probably cheaper because Lisbon is so overated and overpriced just because it's the capital.

@ur mom A country refers to a political state or nation or its territory. It is often referred to as the land of an individual's birth, residence, or citizenship.
You should google this yourself to learn what a county is.

I am an African, I mastered its map just before Europe's. I say the toughest "continent" is Oceania, despite only having 14 countries, but maybe that is just me being the geography nerd that I am!

Well I am Portuguese so on my side of the story, in the past we had some bad blood with wars and even got turn into a province of Spain. Nowadays both Portuguese and Spainish people are pretty chilled with each other, we all get along pretty well, still its part of our culture to sometimes bad talk about Spain, I suppose that's pretty usual between old rivals.

I'm a Spaniard. As far I know we don't have and historically haven't had problems with Portugal. Historically we have had problems with France as far as I know we don't have any for a very long time now.
Fun fact Napoleon asked for permission to get his army inside Spain to conquer Portugal. We let them and they conquered us. Hitler tried to do the same we didn't let him.

This brings back memories...My high school geography teacher recommended Seterra to help us study for tests. Back then it was a program to install on pc though. Damn the Africa struggle xD I had the hardest time with it. Luckily the teacher only wanted us to know Europe perfectly (cause that's the continent I'm from) and cut us some slack for the rest.
I'm just happy that you knew where Bosnia and Herzegowina is, even if you can't pronounce it, we are small, it is enough that people mention us!
As a Spaniard I can tell you we have a friendly banter relationship with the Portuguese, similar as the one US Americans have with Canadians or Australians with New Zealanders. The main joke is that Portuguese women have moustaches.

I guess I agree with this ,but that banter comes mostly from the elder people, culturely we are very much alike and I kind of see Spanish has our brothers, for example even our prime minister got your back publicly last week when the Dutch minister of health basically called your rullers incompetents and that they waste their money that is supposed to go into health services ,and basically saying that you didn't deserve help even though you guys hate suffering a lot due to the coronavirus

@@mennograafmans1595 to be honest, I used to read it on the daily until about 2012 or so. Was out of the loop for years until the whole cake island arc was about halfway through, and then one day I randomly found Matt on TH-cam and he had a bunch of One Piece videos. I started watching a couple, then realized that there were Major Spoilers ahead, so what did I do? Why, I read a solid 6 years worth of manga in 8 days or so just so I could figure out what the hell was going on. Right now, I'm starting from the beginning, just about to Fishman Island.

I'm spanish and there isn't much hate between portuguese and spanish people. There used to be since portugal was originally one of the iberian kingdoms. Something interesting to note is that every time I go to Portugal I am told to speak in English since for some reason some people prefer not to speak in Spanish
I bet that's just to piss you off,or it's just because it's older or ignorant people .
It's pretty easy for us to understand Spanish, for example in my childhood I had to watch Doraemon on TV in Spanish in a portuguese kids channel, and that made Spanish easy for me to understand even has a kid.

@Tekking1001 The Czech Republic is still the Czech Republic, Czechia is just the short name/ unofficial name, similar to how we don't call France the 5th Republic of France, we just call it France. They just figured it'd be easier if people didn't have to say Czech Republic every time. There's some more stuff that goes into it, but it's not like the country actually changed its name.

@ tekking1001 I've been to Ukraine, I recommend going to Kiev, the capital, the food is fantastic and very cheap. when i went there i had an entire meal for about $1.25. it's very cheap, the churches are the best features of the city, very colorful and goes against the brutalist architecture found in most of the rest of the city. You can even buy a sim card so you can use data while you're there. 1 gig is less than $2.00. Make friends with the mafia, they are much nicer than you'd think. It's not very english friendly, but as a few friends of mine from western Ukraine advised me, speak to the younger ones and they're more likely to know english. Everyone there typically is very friendly to Americans. People who speak english are very helpful and honestly you'll have an amazing time there if you do go
