    How is it you have only 4 views when you have suck valued information? I go to my first writers conference in April in NYC, and thanks to this video I am more prepared than I thought I would be. Thank
    you so much for all the wonderful advice, and maybe one day you'll be seeing my book on shelves :)

    Thank you Teresa. I've been surfing through muck on the net, as my first conference is coming up in a few weeks. Your video addressed the information I've been searching to find. Your information is timely, concise and helped eased the sheer terror I've been experiencing about attending a writer's conference!

    Well, it's a new channel, so I'm sure these writing videos will catch on soon here. They've had thousands of hits on the CBI channel that also shows them. I'm so glad you found this video helpful and I wish you the BEST of luck at your conference!

    I'm glad you found it useful, Najah! Best of luck with your conference. No fear. Remember, it's not an accident you are going to this conference. You were called to do so. The time is right, or you would not be willing to spend the time and money to go. Go confidently into this venture!

    That was as professional a presentation as I've seen on TH-cam. It's no surprise you impressed the agents you spoke to... you sure impressed me. I think I'm going to give it a try this coming season. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Best Regards...

    I'm glad you liked the video. I definitely recommend attending writer's conferences. They are useful for different reasons, depending on where you in your writing journey. I'm afraid i don't know much about conferences in the UK, but I you connect with a writing organization, they should be able to tell you. Good luck!

    Teresa, this video really helped me with an elevator pitch. What is your opinion on my pitch: A lone CIA Senior Analyst who time-travels to alter WWII, but on his mission he discovers that there is another mission that involves killing Hitler that will ultimately result in the Germans successfully launching rockets armed with atomic warheads at England, the Soviet Union, and the United States in 1944.

      Sounds like an intriguing story. How about if you tighten it up a bit to read: A lone CIA Senior Analyst time travels to World War II and discovers a mission to kill Hitler and enable Germany to successfully launch rockets armed with atomic warheads at England, the Soviet Union, and the United States.

    Teresa, I have 4 novels in a series self-published. When pitching to agents, is it okay to talk about the other 3 novels briefly or should I stay focused on the first? Would you recommend that the one page show all the covers with a summary of each book? Thanks for your time.

    • @TeresaFunke
      @TeresaFunke  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tricky question. There are two answers: When pitching a series, it's best to stay focused on the first book and mention that it's first in a series. The agent can ask more about the other books if she wants. Here's a bigger concern . . . agents are not interested in self-published books unless they have sold in high numbers. Some have told me 10,000 copies (for a single title). Others have said 4,000 books selling per month. Numbers that high. I don't want to dissapoint you, but it might be nice to know that going in. Me, though, I always say that everything is worth a try. You may be the exception to the rule! So give it your best pitch! If they're not interested in your previously self-pub books, maybe they WILL be interested in your next one!

    Fantastic video with some wonderful tips Teresa! Would you be able to give an opinion on my pitch/story summary: Down-on-her-luck Mia Winters is haunted by the memory of her first love, larger-than-life Roman Thorne. So when he comes back into her life with their past baggage and a new fiancé in tow, Mia has to make a choice - rekindle the spark or resist the passion she still feels for him. If a second chance at love means compromising her own desires and morals, will she take it?

    • @TeresaFunke
      @TeresaFunke  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like it! I'm not sure about the "their past baggage" part. That seems a little too vague, and it isn't clear if the emphasis should be on his past baggage or Mia's. You also suggest that Mia is trying to decide if she should rekindle the spark, if so, to what end? Does she plan to put a move on him? In other words, is it not just rekindling a spark, but maybe pursuing a lost love?
