Wow you guys are great, thank you. I’m looking for a new lullaby to sing to my fifth baby, Rose. And I’ve chosen this one. It’s daunting (for me) but it’s so beautiful I can’t resist. This video makes it much less intimidating. ❤️
Rolling “r”, is the double “rr” like carro, ferrocarril. The double “rr” sounds similar to say the word “row.” Single r is more flat and no rolling such as the word “part” or “ear,” “er.” It feels like the underpart of tongue is curling back. Best description I can give.
This sounds very shallow, but I'm portraying a medieval monk for a show and I'm trying to learn various chants. I also LOVE early and liturgical music, so I really appreciate a practical podcast like this.
Hey, it took me playing _Kingdom Come: Deliverance_ to realise Catholicism=sanity. So whatever gets you over the line... Speaking of which I feel like Henry trying to read right about now. The clouds part slightly on my mental map and the letters are ever so slightly less jumbled. Maybe I even hit a note or two...
This is incredible!!! Thank you so much for this! I have been looking for a way to learn chant. So, you started to talk about 'the squiggle' in this episode and got sidetracked, I was wondering what it was you were going to tell us about 'the squiggle.'
This is so cool! Thanks for sharing. Question for you guys, I work 12 hour, day/night shifts. Is there a small, handheld instrument one could use, David-style like a lyre harp I could learn to accompany hymns like Ave Maris Stella? The only other small, relatively quiet instrument I could think of is a ukulele...lol
Interesting question! A ukulele could work. You could also try a hurdy gurdy. This instrument can provide a drone for you to chant over, but if you're looking to play chords, you'd be better off with a uke! An upgrade to that, however, would be a lute.
@@FlorianiSacredMusic Fun fact! I just bought a “guitalele” two days from Yamaha that is essentially what I was looking for. 3 regular wire (?) guitar strings, 3 nylon. So I’ll stick with that as my modern instrument of choice for now. Thanks for the response!
Why are people claiming to teach chant so complicated? I have looked at a dozen and they sound like mathematicians showing off. I hope these videos just break it down simply. I'm not holding my breath

thank you gentlemen - I'm a voice teacher and I was curious as to how to include more ancient/liturgical music into my lessons, so this is a big help!

Nice commentary to accompany the beautiful angelic singing

Thnq great
Thank you
Fantastic!
I´m diggin into the chant right now. What is the kyrie of the beggining? Sounds POWERFUL
The deep harmonics are beautiful to hear towards the end of the lesson, but hearing it might tighten women's and children's vocal chords (?)
Come again? I'm a baritone without training. There's quite a few of us and very little we don't have to transpose into a lower octave.
Which we don't have the training to do right
Go on guys.
What is next chant?
😃
Thank you very much God bless you and our dear Father Pope Benedict XVI 🙏❤️
It looks like there is an extra note in 4 at te esse, compare 5 at singu. It sounds like te ess is sung as one syllable am I right? Thanks
What's the intro chant?
The “tiny url” in the description no longer links to anything, are the recourses now only available in the course?
