I agree with you in that we need more videos of Jodo-Shin Buddhism as well as the Monshu. In actuality, there is no video of his words on the official website of the Hongwanji. I will talk to the Monshu about your request next time I meet him. Thank you!
Thank you for your nice comment! It is wonderful that you are studying and practicing Buddhism in U.S. I hope you will make it to Japan, especially to Kyoto, the center of Japanese Buddhism, in the near future. Gassho!!
Thank you for this awesome video. Not sure if I will ever make it to Japan...so this is so nice. I am new to Shin Buddhism. Currently a student of Rev. Koyo Kubose of Bright Dawn Center for Oneness Buddhism GASSHO!!
Sorry for that terrible noise! They were just undergoing the major renovation of the main halls to celebrate the 750th year anniversary of their founder, Shinran. You can watch another movie of the Hongwanji temple without noise which was recorded by me very recently. 西本願寺 Nishi Hongwanji Temple, Kyoto, Japan
@@KatsuhiroKOHARA He said quickly as an aside "because I also grew up in the west..." I'm willing to bet he grew up in Hawaii because he sounds like someone speaking standard English with this very light but distinctive accent Japanese local people there have. I don't mean pidgin, that's a whole sub-language and sounds really different, but I mean the regular speech of say, a school teacher or local professor, or administrator etc. He sounds like a great guy, what a great talk he gave! Namu Amida Butsu!
@@KatsuhiroKOHARA OK some Googling shows he's spent a lot of time in Hawaii, has broadcast on the radio there in Japanese, so he's got that Hawaii - California - Japan thing going on. Maybe someday I'll meet him if I am lucky and continue my studies.
Rev. Sekiya is my friend from high school (Junior YBA) days!! Namo Amida Butsu.

Yes, indeed. If my memory is correct, he lived and studied in California for several years.
