I am not a marijuana user. (I am not one that enjoys doing it for pleasure, it makes me paranoid) Having said that, I have suffered severe migraines for over a decade. I took notes and realized mine would occur around and/or before my menstrual cycle. I heard somewhere that THC in marijuana could help. So I took a dose of some SATIVA strain THC gummies from a dispensary. I was shocked, and so very happily relieved to experience that it WORKED! My head was numbed, and the pain totally went away! I felt like it had reduced inflammation along with having a numbing effect. The paranoia was not even as bad I think because I took it for a healing reason, or something about eating it is different than smoking it, not sure.

This resonates sooo much, I’m 46 in perimenopause and have tried absolutely everything. I’ve seen a neurologist for a year and nothing has worked. My migraines are significantly worse. It’s totally debilitating. It’s really hard to pin point it down to anything specific. They’re relentless and making me miserable.

I feel you it's horrible I just have to lay down for a long time. Advil doesn't work Tylenol doesn't work. It's just about time and relaxing. Sometimes it will be 5 or more hours and nausea on top of it. Sorry you're dealing with this.

I’m so sorry. It truly is debilitating. I was in the same boat. Migraines up to 18 or so a month. When period came, when it left, when I ovulated. The sharp drops and surges in hormones did it for me. I tried everything under the sun. Finally was put on Orilissa to shut my ovaries down. Previous month I had 20, went down to 8. And then 5. Mine were definitely hormonal. So sadly, but not really, my next step is a total hysterectomy since Orilissa is to be taken temporarily cause of side effects. I’ll be so happy to be rid of everything and I can then start HRT at levels that work for me instead of this rollercoaster that is perimenopause.

I developed 'aura' migraines in my mid 40's. Thankfully they are not painful, but they are frightening and anxiety producing for sure. They seem to manifest around once a month for the past few years just before a period. Sometimes they seem to be triggered by other irritants like bright lights but I am confident that it began in tandem with perimeno. Wish this Dr. would talk more about the brain/hormone connection.

I am 56, and have had a partial hysterectomy due to prolapse. I have had migraines all my life but the last five years have been the worst. This last year I have had headaches almost every day 24/7. I wake up with them, I go to sleep with them. No specific triggers and medications simply don't work. I just started Botox injections and am on my second round. I pray the third round helps because the headaches are unbearable. The worst is when doctors are dismissive and I feel like they think I am pill shopping. I just started smoking marijuana in December and it helps alleviate the amount of over the counter pain meds and prescriptive abortive medication I need. Praying for new abortive that can be prescribed more than 9 times a month! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I stopped smoking marijuana 4 months ago and some manageable headaches have returned. Stress management is key but ultimately when I am unable to relieve them I have to sleep them off. Taking care not to let them get too bad as to turn into full blown migraines.

Thanks Peter God never had them affected in anyway and they check me still today and thank God they say your uterus and your fallopian tools are fine. You’re just in menopause, but they’re fine. My situation is a bit different due to the fact that I have epilepsy & was put on birth control years ago to help control my seizures, as my hormonal changes were found to be one of the things causing my seizures. So I hadn't had my period for years & I couldn't track anything, but I was getting concerned because of my age & because of the other symptoms I had been having...vaginal dryness, REALLY bad migraines/headaches, problems sleeping, etc. I hadn't even thought that I was perimenipausal😳 Where did the time go? There’s a sparkly line around an area where it is as though my eyes work but my brain can’t make sense of what it’s getting. It starts off feeling almost like when you look at a bright light and get a brief blind spot, but then it morphs and won’t go away. I wish you lived in my area! I can’t find a menopause professional close to me.😔
I’ve suffered from migraines for 20 years (with the exception of the times that I was pregnant). I took Imitrex when I was 24 years old, and it helped, but then I got off of it when trying to get pregnant with my first child and never went back on because of my 4 pregnancies and extended breastfeeding. I’m miserable, and my monthly menstrual migraines have gotten worse (debilitating) over the past few years. I’ve tried magnesium and riboflavin, as well as other remedies/supplements, and my dr also recently put me on bio identical progesterone (after seeing the report from my hormone testing). Nothing has helped, and I just want a better quality of life!!! Thank you for sharing all of the great info!

I stared having migraines at 41. My migraine starts 10 days after the beginning of my menstrual cycle. Is that normal? Most people only talk about migraines before your menstrual cycle.

I am 39yrs old. I have had migraines before, during and after my cycle. For the last year, I have also been noticing I've gone 2 months twice last year with no period and during my current period (Jan 2024), my period has been light, but it has lasted 16 days and hasn't stopped yet. I've never had that happen before. I also have had night sweats for the last few years as well as hot flashes. The prolonged period has really concerned me though. Is that perimenopause?

Hi dr. Thank you so much for creating this video. I am 57 and am still in peri menopause. I have had migraines since my early 20s but they have significantly increased recently including cluster migraines and sometimes symptoms related to my vestibular migraine ( vertigo) which is usually well controlled with beta blockers. I do track them and they do seem to happen around the time I would normally have my period although my mensural cycle is so erratic. my sleeping has got even worse since my in continence issues started which may to be caused by a large fibroid over the bladder. I think I will ask my dr to refer me back to the neurologist and try taking the riboflavin as you suggest. I wish you were in the uk as I would definitely like to have a consultation. Thanks again. Sandra

I get vestibular migraines (at least that’s what I think) around ovulation and before my period. I’m 38 but was hit by a car and they started after my bad concussion. I’m considering going on birth control (maybe the mini pill?) to regulate my hormones and see if it helps. I also spot for between 3-6 days before every period.

I’m glad that you’re saying this but no you’re wrong I am 63 years old. My period went away at 45 and I have still been in the menopause with the palpitations hot flashes cold flashes migraine headaches right when I’m gonna ovulate which will be every third week of the month one month it may do it one month it may not but usually it’s always when I’m going to have hot flashes cold flashes. I swell up sometimes my breast hurt. Yes I’ve seen my gynecologist. She has had me on hormones for about three years and even when I had the hormones, it was still the headache was there not as bad now I’m 63 they cannot give me any more hormones Because I will bleed so now they try to give me other things which they really just don’t know what to do with me. They literally wanted to meet think about having a hysterectomy with my room having never a problem no sis nothing I’ve never had a problem with my uterus thanks to Jesus and she said well maybe we should just take it out even though there’s no problem with your uterus it’s very healthy. As a matter fact it’s healthy enough. That is 63. You could probably have a child, so what
