Honda City RS Hatchback 2022 With i-MMD, Genting Hill Climb / How Good Is it? / YS Khong Driving

  • Okay, we've finally done it - We've taken the Honda City RS i-MMD up the mountain to check it out.
Before you go any further, please remember that this is a car that was made for reducing the carbon footprint, and it is actually a car with a hybrid system made for fuel economy and has an energy recovery system.
Of course our fans still want to know how it performs, which is why we are taking it up this mountain, which is the sort of 'constant' to measure all cars.
Again, please note that all cars that are pushed to the max will be relatively loud, because we are making the engine and drive system work very hard, and pushing the tyres and suspension to the extreme, so please do not complain about the noise.
There are some sections at the beginning and at the end when we drive the car slowly, and you can easily tell that it can be very quiet too.
Many thanks to Belux Auto Sdn Bhd a.k.a Honda 4S Centre Kepong for the loan of the car for this test. Mucho Gracias!
Of course we also sell Honda through our channel, so if you want to book one, please go to
    shop.yskhongdriving.com,
    or send a whatsapp to 016 3350609
Also a final FYI to all potential buyers for cars, the June 30th dateline for SST exemption is NOT likely to be extended, and the exemption is based on the actual JPJ registration date, NOT DATE OF BOOKING.
Many car makes are running out of stock, to the extent that there are no more cars in the showrooms even, so if you want to take advantage of this tax holiday, do go make your booking now.
Please check with us on individual models and variants regarding the delivery status.
Thanks guys and girls for your continuing support, and buying a car through us helps us to keep this channel going.

The drive up to genting was fun... Hardly any stress but then I'm an ordinary driver no where near uncle standard la. My first Japanese car after 2 decades of owning French n Germans. Needless to say I'm impressed

I’ve got the Sedan RS and I’ve managed to get 987km on a full tank. Averaged about 26.8km/ liter. I did couple of top speed run as well. Apart from that I was super light with my throttle. On average I drove 70 to 95kph. Aircond was 1 bar above the middle. Hope this helps those whom are contemplating to buy.

    • @YSKhongDriving

The response comes mainly from the electric motor: with zeri slip, the response is instant. 253Nm is good.
No, there is no smell. Watch my videos, the ecvt is explained.

owns the car, as usual with standard FWD car, loads of understeer, easily remedied by adjustable if time attack is all the owners wanted. for me, its easily managed, plus i LOVED the stock dampening, soaks bumps and imperfections on daily use. but i noticed its pretty rigid, so in terms of handling, adjustable to lower abit the car and stiffens the front suspension. front strutbar and rear sway doesnt hurt either. gotta lookout for fast changing turns because its a bit (battery) heavy.
it does have low center of gravity, course you can lower it more, i know the car can tolerate a bit more.

Also im not sure if an extra 16k top up is worth the price. I've been driving a manual up until now and I like to drive err fast but within reason. Which one would be a better, or wiser choice ya ? Uncle YS , help me pls haha. Or anyone who daily drives either one, can give me a good opinion?

    • @YSKhongDriving

The RS feels good when the immd system comes on, and you also save quite a bit on fuel.
The V feels like what a normal Honda 1.5 with 122 ps feels like.
Basically you get what you pay for.
Normally I tell people to buy what they need, and buy based on their need.

Update: Went to test drive the car and boy can it fly (the RS variant). I can see why you mentioned it was faster uncle YS. Maybe not the fastest car in terms of speed but boy does it feel like a turbo charged engine when you push it. For city driving and quick zipping here and there I can see the practicality. The gentle kick back when the sales rep hit full throttle reminded me of other more expensive sports hatchbacks like the Audi TT. Definitely worth a try for those who are considering hoping on to the hybrid/electric car train.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

You need to know what you are doing. The person doing the overtaking must watch out for the person in front. Watch me other videos - one must always expect the unexpected - many times, I have braked for another car in front eho cut into the right lane while I am in the process of overtaking him. In this case above, it was about 40 kmh at that point, so it is easy to control. When driving, every sense is on, taking in the entire situation, and making your moves based on the moment.

  • @EddieTeo
    @EddieTeo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

This is how this Honda immd hybrid works on the hill climb: When below 100 kmh, the 97 hp engine painfully struggles to juice up a 1.3 kwh battery, which in turn powers an electric motor that drives the car. When above 100 kmh, it switches to engine-only mode where the 97 hp engine alone drives the car. Either way, the tiny engine has to rev up really hard to keep up with the uphill climb.

Simulated rev change, but there is actually no gear change because it is direct drive from motor through a single reduction gear. When engine takes over it is also a single gear drive to the drive shaft, something akin to top gear.

The Genting road is unique. To me it is a beautiful road. It has its own character, and I love this road.

This car will be another fail model, Honda still not sensitive enough for what Malaysia consumer want. To me paddle shifter super important because it can serve as another safety feature when need to bring down the car speed during emergency stop.

I too don't like the paddles as much either, but it is not a deal breaker. There is so much about this car that is good: there is no such thing as a perfect cat for everybody. So it looks like the Civic would be more up your street. Mine too, tbh. But this RS has its great points too, especially if the Civic is out of budger.

But what do you want to shift ? This car has a single speed transmission. You have to treat this RS as a range extender EV , not like a conventional petrol engine car.

A paddle shifter is needed if you have to deliver tofu to Genting every morning. The main target customer of this car is obviously not tofu deliverer. Besides, if you want to use paddles all the time, this is not the car to buy.
My GTI and AMG have paddles but I hardly need to use them. I don't go up the mountain every week like our Genting boss YS.

U must try this car first bro, the regenerative paddle shifter that provided also bring down a lot of speed n charging the battery super fast. ✌🏻
