kelogsloops Oh wow I’m disappointed I thought you only used water from the polar ice caps on mars that had been infused with diamond flakes and served in a crystal bowl
In Australia we don't have access to a lot of art brands (importing to Australia sucks I guess), and so our art stores really only stock Winsor & Newton. I really do wanna try experiment and review different brands of all sorts of materials, so I'd love to hear what suggestions you guys have for companies for me to try out! What do you guys use or recommend?
In all honesty, my favourite brand is Windsor and Newton's. I've been trying to save up for one of the big watercolour pallette and I'm so excited to get one in future! For pencils, I often use Derwent. Love from the UK ❤️
7:48 'masking fluid destroys brushes' I found that if you coat your brush in washing up liquid, lightly wipe it off on a tissue and then use in the masking fluid it doesn't destroy the brush - I still wouldn't recommend doing this with a super expensive brush but I've managed to save one of my favourite brushes using this technique
Oooh, washing liquid, I haven't tried that! I do something similar, but I use brush soap. It works most of the time, but it's still destroyed a few brushes. Gonna keep experimenting until I find the perfect solution to masking fluid
@@kelogsloops I've only recently started using masking fluid in my work but the washing liquid hasn't failed me yet :) It's a shame it destroys brushes though because it's really useful - I remember the first time I used it I was super excited but I unknowingly destroyed a brush. tragic.
i use it a lot and honestly i just buy a shitty pack at walmart? Washing liquid works but if your like me (i can easily forget to wash the brush asap and therefore it drys/permeates the brush) it's nice to just have some shitty brushes for that. Just dip in water and use it til it croaks. But masking fluid can be so fun and help you do so many things!
One of my go-to content creators for markers going to a go-to creator for watercolor? I must be in the right place. This is great content. Helped so much with how I'm choosing my supplies.
For masking fluid I recommend getting a silicon tip brush, that way u don’t have to sacrifice a brush. Or dip ur brush into some dish soap before u use the masking fluid.
Your art inspires me so much to just sit down and pick up my paints. For a few months, I completely avoided my sketchbook, thinking my skills weren't good enough to get me anywhere. After finding your channel, I have this new confidence in my art. Thank you for doing what you do.
I haven't had a legitimate crush on someone in years but, I experience so much infatuation and appreciation for your art, so I'm glad my affection is directed towards something greater LOL
Just yesterday I told my parents my depression's back after weeks of being exhausted by everything but sleeping. Even art felt difficult to make. But, seeing your videos and hearing you talk about art or watching the way you apply paint does so much for me. I don't know how or why your creative process is so inspiring to me, but I really appreciate it. Looking forward to your next upload🌨
It's so refreshing and lovely to hear how passionate you are about your art. By the way, your technique is amazing and your artworks are some of my favourites by far
Watching your painting journey has inspired me to start painting again over the past couple years. Thank you so much for sharing your techniques and what you’ve learned with us. It’s very much appreciated 💙
man, you talking about watercolor and painting makes me so happy, like i can hear the genuine joy in your voice and that inspires me so much, i hope i get to improve my art because u and your art really really make me feel like creating something, anything lots of love💜
Omg yay! I didn’t know you were Aussie! Me too! Woot woot! Love loveeee your work! I so agree about the lack of art materials in Aus and they are so expensive!
So you answered a question/struggle I've had with the toothy watercolor paper. I usually work with hot press for detail work, but you get fine detail even with the textured paper. ❤
I have a tip for save the brushes when you use masking fluid: rub your wet brush into soap. Then you can use the masking fluid and when you're done, just wash your brush with water. I hope that helps and that my English make some sense (this is not my first language and I'm still learning)
Aaahhhh that small moment of my life is called- happiness 😭 Love it all - ur the reason I started watercolors- gave it up- but now when i see i just miss and want to use watercolors so bad😭✨✨
I'm in awe of your art, I just started painting and drawing I would love a video for beginners sometimes ! Now I don't understand all the specifics of different brushes, papers, watercolours but I loved that video and I could listen to you talking about this for hours !!
Thankyou so so incredibly much for posting this, your artwork just take my breath away, I cant begin to explain how beauitful i think it is. I also love how your so direct and straight to the point for the things you use and that you have your favourites. Your use of metallic inks and gold leaf is just wonderful. 💖
Arches is my favorite too! They size their paper to the core, which is why water doesn't just float on top. Most manufacturers only do the surface! The more ya know! 👌
There’s a sennelier masking fluid with a pin like top, masking fluid comes out from the tip of it, it’s a very thin applicator so you don’t have to use a brush on anything. I recommend it!
You are very talented and I love your videos. I wish I had your level of skill but your videos encourage me to use my art supplies and have fun. Thank you.
honestly ur watercolor paintings are so beautiful! i tried to try to paint with watercolor and using ur paintings as inspirations but nO i almost flipped the table i really suck at it 😭. but i guess looking at your paintings motivates me to practice watercolor so thank you! 🖤
It's probably a bit late for you to see this but I recommend using silicon brushes for masking fluid. You can normally find them in the clay/modelling section. You can normally find them in all shapes and sizes including really small so you can get those detailed areas. They're also super easy to clean as you can just peel the masking fluid of.
Oh, those supplies look very yummy! I mainly use Schmincke and Hahnemuehle because they have been in my life since childhood but I have been branching out lately and bought various different brands (mainly DS Primatek) to try and they all have their strong points and unique properties, as you said. While searching for masking fluids on Amazon I recently stumbled upon masking fluid brushes and ordered them right away! I just received them so I can report that these 3 different sized brushes contain white semi opaque hairs so they are not those silicone shapers. I am not sure what they are made of or if was just clever marketing by "frisk", the UK masking fluid manufacturer. They do clog up if the fluid gets sticky in there but you can get it out again. Perhaps the hairs are not quite as fine as most other brushes. Anyhow, they are not expensive so well worth a try.
I'm a beginner in watercolor, I just do it for hobby though. I try to get some winson and newton wattercolor but it sure does expensive . Anyway, lovely to see you upload again. ♡
OMG it’s so nice to see a video from you again! I hope you’ve been doing well. Yeah Arches is really good! I’m glad the pads are more affordable to get than the blocks because I love using it for my illustrations. I never tried Trekell before, I should try it sometime and compare them to my Princeton brushes. I use mostly Davinci paints because I got them at a clearance sale but I really do love Daniel Smiths. I have some W&N paints but they are more expensive (mostly the pro paints) than other brands I get here in Canada. Honestly love masking fluid because I’m not as good with doing negative space yet. Gold leaf looks so pretty I hope I can use it one day. Thank you for this video and I hope you upload more soon!
Kinda late, but thank you for this video! I finally decided to make the purchase of the Winsor and Newton 45 pc studio set, can’t wait until it arrives!
You are such a raw and pure artist. I love how natural this video turned out and I appreciate all of the materials you shared for all of us to see. I am interested on how it is that you use gold leaf. Hope you have a wonderful day!!!
WOW, I just found your channel. So glad I have. Oh, when I use masking fluid I use a clay shaping tool. It's rubber or silicone on the end. And you can get detail with it. And I don't ruin any brushes this way. Anyway, your art is very impressive. Looking forward to watching more. TYFS
I'm so excited for your next video. Love everything you do! Been a fan for a couple of years and I cant wait to see what you do next. You make me want to start painting! Sending love from Guam 💛
Impatiently waiting for your beginner’ art supplies recommendations ^^ How you describe the subtlety of the paper makes me even more curious about watercolor :)
Welcome back! I love your videos! I’ve started getting into watercolor so any in depth reviews would be awesome to see in the future. Also all of your work is amazing
Many people are telling me I must stretch my paper before doing a wet on wet painting to prevent it from buckling. I'm curious what your thoughts are on paper stretching. I honestly think it does nothing.
You're an inspiration. The patience and passion you have for details and exquisite beauty of your art is mind blowing! I do have a question here. I have a recent obsession working with gold leaf as well. I'm still in a starting stage of it so I use imitation gold leaf and silver leaf. Imitation tend to tarnish over time so, how do you seal it with watercolour? Varnish or fixative spray? Please do answer when possible
get you a man that describes you beautifully like how he describes arches paper 🤣
yessss that’s what I thought when I saw that part lmao
If you need a man for that - you are doing YOURSELF a disservice!!
Oh my god yes
haha very funny jerk
I knew there would be a comment about the arches paper part 😂
Okay but how does this not include what type of water you use >:((((((
i use only the finest of finest sparkling waters that have been infused with cucumber and gold leaf flakes
kelogsloops Oh wow I’m disappointed I thought you only used water from the polar ice caps on mars that had been infused with diamond flakes and served in a crystal bowl
Lol 😂
@Beatriz Morganti she is being sarcastic
@Beatriz Morganti oh ok 😂

kelogsloops have you tried chipotle brand watercolor pencils they’re a bop
@@ArpitaRattan wait, chipotle has watercolor pencils? am i getting punked

Hey, did you choose a winner for your DTIYS competition?
I highly recommend white nights watercolours from Russia.
Good quality and inexpensive, compared to other brands.

Glen Coco you could use those cheap silicone/rubber brushes from red dot.

But masking fluid can be so fun and help you do so many things!
Try using silican brushes instead
Your art is gourgous. It would be really cool of sometime down the road you could release an art book. Would totally buy it 😊
bro, you use REAL GOLD leaves???????? legend
Just an FYI.. They actually aren't that expensive, because the sheets are so thin ;)
His work is so beautiful it's definitely worth 24K gold leaf. I love it! ♡
They're not expensiveee
the watercolor paper he used is much more expensive than the gold leaves
Gold leaf is expensive, but not crazy expensive. You could use fake stuff to practice
This makes me immediately want to use my watercolors, love your work 🥺🖤🤧
I missed your uploads! Hope you’re doing well ❤️
Thanks for the helpful video, I'd love to try out some watercolour painting. I'll have to buy some of your recommended supplies!

lots of love💜
I agree about the Arches cold pressed paper!! It's my very favourite and I use nothing else when doing a piece. Love it!
for some reason watching these watercolor supply videos motivates me to go and paint something
Omg yay! I didn’t know you were Aussie! Me too! Woot woot! Love loveeee your work! I so agree about the lack of art materials in Aus and they are so expensive!
I can’t get over how beautiful your watercolours are! Really inspires me to improve in my painting ✨
So you answered a question/struggle I've had with the toothy watercolor paper. I usually work with hot press for detail work, but you get fine detail even with the textured paper. ❤
I love how excited you get about these supplies it makes me so happy
How many times do I have to watch this huhu, everytime I remember kelogs, I always search for his channel and watch his videos again and again.
Omg, it's been a while since I've made a watercolor piece for my channel, watching you has given me inspiration to try again

The way you talk about the texture is all of the artist like having an artgasm like Oh~~~ the the texture
That is such a cool dip pen. The design is so clever.
You seem like the most humble person
Oh my goshhhh. The art style and art itself is so beautiful like broooooooo. I love it your rocking it love it.
It’s 1:45 in the morning and I’m watching legit every one of ur videos
I’d love a video on just the comparison of your same colors in the different brands like you mentioned in the video! Thank you! ☺️💕
You are an excellent artist and teacher!! Thank you!!

You know your an artist when you get excited about 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿.
you sound so happy about the arches paper 🥺🥺
Just appreciating how clean his pencil sketches are. Hope you make a tutorial about that
You’re a huge inspiration to me in so many different ways that have nothing to do with art. My god you’re truly amazing!

You‘ve just made my day thanks and greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 ☺️
Your work is exquisite! I get so much inspiration from just watching your videos...thank you for sharing them!
Everyone deserves to have someone love them, as much as you love arches cold press watercolour paper

Apply masking fluid with silicone brushes, peels right off the brush when dry! Easy life :)
I just started using water colors and I love them!! You’ve been a great help so far and I really thank you for that 😭💕

I second this. I would love to see a video about your color choices
