- Irene Cara has died. She was 63. No cause of death has been released. A rep for Cara says she died at her home in Florida. She was best known for starring in 'Sparkle' and 'Fame.' Cara also wrote and performed the title song for the '80s hit, 'Flashdance… What a Feeling,' which earned her an Oscar and GRAMMY award.

Oh my goodness, a generation is passing away one person at a time. Nothing brings that home quite like when we hear news of one of our stars passing. I’m thankful for her work and the classy way she used her celebrity. I enjoyed Fame and Aaron Loves Angela amount others. She literally has been in show business since childhood.
That amazing talent that elevated those films . Yes those iconic films could still have been hits but without Irene Cara singing , Fame and Flashdance wouldn’t have had that same memorable feel and resonance that has proven to be timeless . Was stunned to see that she was 63 years old . I damn sure thought she was a lot younger than 63 .

I was born in 1984 and I first discovered Irene Cara as the voice of Snow White in the animated sequel “Happily Ever After” in 1993. So sad she’s gone 😢 RIP.

In 1976 while watching the movie "Sparkle" which was one of my favs that's when I first saw her acting and singing her "EYES" smiled at you she was one of a kind she didn't look like anyone but herself I thoroughly enjoyed the movie as a teenager that's when i took a liking to her and my future girlfriends had to look like IRENE CARA. Little Eva , who sang the song, the locomotion only made $500 from the record while Motown made millions from it. Mary Wells also received no royalties. Hollywood is a very cutthroat business.
