      @@Wolverineverminshooting A few things about your rabbit gutting technique, being an expert rabbit gutter myself (started aged 10). I can understand that gutting this way reduces the weight to carry around. If you are using the rabbit for ferrets fine, but if the idea is for humans to eat the rabbit meat no, this is not a good idea. Why? Two reasons. First, on the liver there is a little bile sack. For an adult rabbit it is quite small, about the size from the last knuckle to the top end of your little finger in an almost clear skin thin bag attached to the liver. You need to remove that intact without bursting it, because if the intent is to eat the rabbit meat, the bile, if exposed to the meat sours it and makes it taste awful when cooked. By squeezing out the guts, the likelihood is that the liver bile sack can burst as it is quite fragile. The bladder too, but this is less likely as it is more robust. Second, the liver itself. You can eat this, the heart, and the kidneys BUT the liver has to be closely inspected. If it has yellow spots or yellow circles on it, then the whole rabbit has to be thrown away. Why? Because the rabbit is infected with mixy (myxomatosis) and can make you ill. You can see that externally too, but the liver is a tell tale sign when there are no external signs. Sometimes you have to look really close because the spots or circles can be very faint, but that's it, if you see them then chuck the entire rabbit away. Useful? Had plenty of rabbit pie! It is a delicious low fat meat, as good as chicken any day. By the way still loving the videos. Keep them coming.

    • @Wolverineverminshooting
      @Wolverineverminshooting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't eat the rabbits I give them to my dog and others I give away to my dog groomer that feeds them to her dogs. The little ones get left where they are for buzzards or foxes

    • @MrMoggyman
      @MrMoggyman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Wolverineverminshooting Fair do's. But for human scoffing, they are best guts in and then they can be dressed properly. Wow, dogs eating rabbit. They are delicious cooked. Ever tried rabbit? Every bit as good as chicken. But you need adults, not leverets. In a pie fantastic. Not had rabbit pie for some time now. My mother used to make the best, but unfortunately she is no longer with us. Still good memories of gutting, and some nice grub.

    When gutting a bird I stick my fingers up its butt, pull the intestines out, then reach up with my hand and grab the esophagus, windpipe, and pull that out. Now I can get the heart, liver, and gizzard. I never saw the rabbit trick before, that was different.
