One of the most underrated films in American movie history. What makes it spectacular and an all-time great is 1. the incredibly realistic dialogue, the characters use phrases and verbal statements in the manner in which people actually talk in real life, 2. the overall script of the film is incredible, 3. the way in which the movie charts the simple high school romance into the post high school college and work world, 4. the stunning acting performances. Do not miss this movie.
I just watched the movie on TV , I had to look it up. The movie really brings you on a romantic emotional ride ,with a final dance as they reminisce the high school days and the love they had for each other. Very moving, but one clue I noticed in the movie was ; She never was in love with him as much as he was with her. She found him charming, handsome, great talker all that ,but he didn't steal her heart away ,he wasn't the one .
@@oilyshoes9969 Im trying to figure what the director of this movie wants the audience to believe ; Did they stay together ? Or did they have their last dance together? Looking at the movie i think it was their last dance together.
@@giovanideparma3500 I actually met directorJohn Sayles about 10 years ago at a book signing, and when I brought up that very question to him, he simply said “It’s Amy’s (Amy Robinson) movie... Ask her instead lol
Throughout the movie chosen songs mirror what has happen or what is happening in certain scenes. I believe the reprise of Strangers in the Night and it's last verse is the clue that they stayed together. ....love was just a glance away, a warm embracing dance away And ever since that night We've been together Lovers at first sight In love forever It turned out so right For strangers in the night
Didn’t like this film when it first came out but that was because I was an adrenaline junkie like most hormones on overdrive young men back then . This was the age when the license and merchandising films with blockbuster in mind dominated . Think Lucas and Spielberg . So Baby It’s You was atypical and original . One of the best comments was some Critic that wrote , “ He didn’t get to keep the girl . We see them everywhere sitting on a bar stool still reminiscing even if it is fading into the background “ Well that is some of mine thrown in there . Anyway got to hand it to John Sayles who through the years has gone against the grain and sacrificed to make these original films . Some were definitely genre films but they were people oriented projects first . The vibe I always got from Sayles is that he was a philanthropist.
Does anyone know the name of the band that did this cover? Gosh just one the of absolute best covers EVER!! And just what a jewel of a movie!! John Sayles did it justice, the acting is superb and of course Springsteen giving rights to have his music in a film for the first time!!!
