- Whistlin' Waters Outdoors- In this episode, Karen and I head back to the beautiful beaches of Alabama's Gulf Coast in search of more Pompano. This time out we have a secret weapon though, Gulp! Sandfleas. After soaking baits all morning without much luck, all hell breaks loose and a big school of fish swims through. Y'all tune along and watch the madness unfold!

I've used my rod before to measure fish quick. Then later measure where it came to on the rod.

When close to shore with your bull red , walk backwards and drag him in with the help of the surf and it will be easier to land him with less effort..your lucky as close as you were to him and trying to pull him in that the hook didn't come flying out and didn't catch you somewhere.. helpful hint
Exactly learned my lesson I had a big one like this one and lost him cause I was stupid.

I think it has something to do with boyancy I think they mold air into them somehow.
I thought they stopped making the sand fleas. They actually start on better than the real deal ( rare for gulp).
They may have, We bought these in december of '17 I believe and have been keeping them around since. Yea no doubt about that man, I was really surprised. Out of the whole pack I've only lost 1, I just add some juice to the bag and keep using them over and over.

Ron Lee that's crazy man, just about everything has a creel, size and/or season on it down here. We are able to keep trout though which is good because it's some of my favorite fish to fry! The wildlife regulation committees do a really good job of regulating things so we can keep a decent amount of fish around. I hope y'all rebound in a big way from this years freeze up there, I can't imagine the kind of devastation that could do to a fishery.
The east coast winter was tough last year man we had a big shrimp kill here in Charleston whish trickled up to speckleds.

I dont believe they have a website but im sure you could find them on Amazon or some website. I believe they call them pompano pill floats
They're called rig floats on lure parts online other places call them walleye floats but on lpo

big fish sometimes hit small baits I've seen it happened and by experience which boggles my mind. Iam kinda shocked on this one too.

Regarding your PVC pipe to hold your rods, next time stick the pipe in the ground about an inch or 2, cup the top of the pipe and suck in and watch that steak drive itself into the ground with no effort if the sand is wet.
Ive had a couple people tell me that now, I had no idea! Definitely gunna give it a try next time im out there.
It only works if your in the wet part of the beach, try it in dry sand and your get a mouth full of sand.

It was for sure! I usually try to let the big girls like that go, theyre the big breeding females most of the time. I got plenty of her smaller friends in the freezer we ate on though hahaha
Nice red that you caught... How heavy was the line you were using? Didn't look like to big of a hook... I'm guessing 4/0.. I'll have to buy me some of those sand fleas. I tried fish bites recently for the first time. They were great for whiting and I've seen people catch Pompeno... All you need is fish bites and gulp sand fleas is the way it seems. The gulp shrimp are good too. I think the speckled Trout were tearing those up. Nice video.
where do you get those floats?
kovid perng the local tackle shops in my area, Sams Stop N Shop, keeps them in stock. Most smaller tackle shops along the gulf coast sell them.

Senad Katana fishing has been really good lately, the weather not so much. The temperatures are all over the place and the rain is here and there but there's fish around the be caught for sure!

It has to be Ft Morgan. Thats the only place down there where the ships enter and exit. You can see one leaving right at the end of the video.
Those sand fleas in the Gulp bags are they soft shell or hard shell sand fleas ??? After seeing them they appear to be manufactured
Ron Lee I guess you could say they're soft shell. They're made from the same material as a gulp shrimp or swimming mullet.
They're not crunchy if that's what you mean but they do hold up better than real ones for any other type of gulp because of the shape.
