- It's no secret that indoor malls all over the country are dying out. Come explore the ghost mall that is the Hudson Valley Mall in Ulster, NY just outside of Kingston.
I grew up in that mall. Snuck into my first movie at the Hoyts, my sister dated a guy that worked at Pretzel Time...which was near the food court...which also used to be full and jamming with lots of options. We would spend hours running around that mall....from Electronics Botique, to Walden, to The Wall, the arcade, Kaybee...and more. There used to be a Godiva shop my dad liked to get chocolate from....so many memories...wow, it has really fallen on hard times now...hard to believe it is the same spot. Thanks for sharing!

I managed the Vitamin World in the food court from ‘99-‘09… helped open up Old Navy in winter of ‘97…. And was working and trapped inside during the shooting that Sunday at 3pm!

I worked at the McDonald's at the bottom of the hill, but one winter break during college I was sent up to work in the mall. I'm sure you have a lot of memories of the Hudson Valley Mall. Thanks for sharing!
i grew up in the HVM i spent so much time there as a teen and worked there as an adult , Very good times there and itll never be forgotten. I still talk about it to others as of this day, recently i vacationed to ny to see family and i stopped in about a week ago to this place, i felt the sadness as time has left this wonderfull place it will never be forgotten

me and my sisters grew up in New York, we would go here all the time, so many good memories sad to see it be dead like this.
Who knows? Maybe it will make a comeback someday.

I'm sure when the mall first opened nobody ever thought that it would become what it is to today.
But I still love the mountain view from the parking lot outside the front of Target!

Please excuse the fact that I copied my comment from another video of the HVM - but the essence is the same:
"The HVM was directly across 9W from IBM Kingston where 7000 people worked, about half on first shift. I'd bet that nearly 1000 BM'ers were at the mall most noon times - and I was one of them! Besides KMart, Hess, Pennys, Sears, and Radio Shack. there were book and record stores, clothing stores, shoe stores, card shops, dental offices, and more. After eating in the food court, or one of the many restaurants, we'd take a leisurely stroll through the mall, stopping at places of interest and chatting with friends. It was still going strong when I left IBM in 1992, but traffic fell off considerable when IBM closed up shop in 1995. I haven't had much reason to visit there in 20 years, so I was saddened to see what became of it. Thanks for the nostalgic video!"
It's incredible to think about how many memories were made in that building. I wish I could find more old pictures so I could remember what stores were there and when.

It's a bit of a shame to see something like that where most of the shops are closed. It might be better if the whole place was closed down at once and demolished. Only the glory days when there was life there would be remembered.

I saw The Incredibles in this theater back in 2004. I used to go to this mall before moving to Florida in 2007
2007 it was still full of stores. Was it Regal Cinema when you saw The Incredibles or was it still Hoyt's?

I remember when this mall was packed with people and stores. What a shame, thanks Amazon for killing retail shopping.
The mall started to go down hill as soon as Walmart opened. It's hard to explain the influence malls had on society in their prime!
Bro, the arcade in this mall 😭 I haven't seen this place in over ten years. it's so depressing now.
I do miss a good arcade. I'm not sure people remember how popular they were back in the day.
