I think Admiral Trench would give Grand Admiral Thrawn a run for his money. But just picking who's the better tactician is kinda hard at this point. But who do you think is the better tactician; Thrawn or Trench?

I had a friend in high school, who was afraid of spiders. Which is precisely why I told her about him. She told me she like Star Wars a little, and I told her about a species that she would really want to stay away from. Because she told me when she sees a spider she will freak out.

No size comparison??? I was once again expecting something along the lines of: "Trench was standing at 6.2 feet, roughly the size of a B2 super battle droid. Or about 621 Commander codys shorter than a Venator class star destroyer."

I think he would’ve made an interesting admiral if he lived into the rebellion era. Just imagine a chess match between him and thrawn.
Thrawn would've stomped him. He won a battle heavily outnumbered.
Trench wouldn't have stood a chance, he is far too predictable.

Trench is undoubtedly one of my top fav characters, it is good that he does giving somewhat of a fight against Anakin, though
I actually would've liked seeing more of his tactical geniusness. They didn't really show that well in the Clone Wars tbh
I imagine that Trench was unknowingly responsible for many of the CIS’s navy victories throughout the clone wars, after his recovery, learning his lesson to not paint his logo on his capital ships.
Plot twist: trench somehow survived and eventually shows up as a full blown general grevious style cyborg
Edit: with 6 arms that split into 12 and 12 different lightsabers lmao
2nd edit: and instead of spinning 4 sabers in front of himself like Grievous, he'll spin 4 in front, 4 on his sides and 4 behind him, he'll become a beautiful lightsaber tornado lmfao the more I think about this the more I like it

Yes and in the surprise reveal of clone wars season 5097272892928 he returns because before the battle his conscience was downloaded into a compjter and implanted into a brain and a body
He returns in the Vader comics, and he fights Vader in another dual of witness.

I like the fact that you can't really pin down his morals. On one hand he gives his enemy the chance to escape and on the other he is willing to target innocents to draw them out. Also his voice and the clicking sounds between sentences makes me want to eat something............
Tbf, his bombers attacked Republic forces, not civilian targets from what we can see.
To cheat death, is a power only one has achieved.

I mean to be fair, so did every CIS general in the show because the main characters have enough plot armor to blow up capital ships. So, considering, Trench track reccord is still pretty good.

Trench was actually a highly admirable and even valiant commander as well as a True strategist; had he surrendered/taken prisoner by the republic; Palpatine surely make him a fleet general at the Times of empire; he did not deserve to brutally killed by Anakin

Unlikely as The Empire was very xenophobic with only Thrawn being the exception since he had the favor of The Emperor.

Although Trench does have the advantage that he tends to escape death again and again, he would've survived the Space Whales and gotten away from the tentacles eventually.
And as for being taken out by his own bodyguard…
But if Thrawn had a chance to study Harch art beforehand.
I personally think that he has latent force abilities that he accidentally uses frequently. He may be an amazing general because of force foresight, and instinctively called on the force to save himself when his bridge exploded.

I dunno, I feel he is jsut a decent tactician because he has pretty grounded tactics really. I mean "shall we break the blockade and go after our enemies" "No we stay, refresh and just wait for them to come back" sounds like somethign that don't need crazy force powers, just a little bit of common sense

Well, have you ever tried killing a spider?
When I was a kid and saw this episode I just thought he could breath in space
6:25 I feel like his physiology played a role in his survival, if I were to guess Id say his species can lose multiple limbs without dying and that they have thick skin and maybe if double organs meaning they would be alot harder to kill.
Don't forget they probably have exoskeletons
Perhaps trench can survive in space, having oxygen for sometime stored in his hairs much like we see with normal spider and maybe could form a web shot to hook back onto the ship and pull himself to safety

I always thought trench’s survival was due to his biology. I felt like he was something like Frieza from DBZ, a fucking durable species that could survive after the loss of body parts, and remain in the void of space. My guess is that the parts of trench that are cybernaticccover up the parts of his body that where destroyed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Trench’s body was just drifting in outer space uncounscious, before being recovered after the battle
His species is notorious for being very durable that’s why he could repeatedly survive extreme situations like being blown up

The bridge of many ships had crew stations in a depressed position besides the "commanders deck." You see this in the movies as well as clone wars. He probably fell into one of those and got covered from the explosion.
I would like to have seen a navy battle between Trench, and Thrawn. I know Thrawn would(probably)win, but it would still be interesting(from a tactical point of view)to see such a battle happen.
Speaking of Thrawn, what about a space battle between him, and Darth Revan? Again, Thrawn would(probably)win(especially if he knows about Revan in history), but since Revan defeated The Mandolorians, and(nearly)The Old Republic as well, along with being a Jedi/Sith as well, I would like to see a battle between Revan(at full power), and Thrawn would play out.
Admiral trench was in pretty bad shape when he and his command ship destroyed on the Crystal Planet, Lucky for him he had survived, he laid high for a while started making plans for revenge on Anakin Skywalker who left him dead on the crystal planet

So... My question is why would the Republic send a single fleet of 4 Venators and 3 Medical Frigates 😅 Against a fleet that with a quick view appear to have around 8-10 Lucrehulk Class, 1 Providense Class D and probably 20 Munifecent class? I know the Venator is a carrier but still we are talking about probably an armada against a small fleet not only that all the firepower that could have tore down the Venators if it wasnt because they just used a couple ships to fight

I find it amusing that this great admiral forgot to order his point defence guns to fire on the stealth ship approaching him and needed to be told his shields needed to recharge after lowering them

We've seen that CIS capital ships have a trapdoor escape on the bridge- we've seen Grevious and Cad Bane use that gag, so it's possible Trench's tactical droid threw him down the trapdoor at the last second- saving his life, but costing him an eye and an arm or two...

I have an idea for a Clone Wars game.
You are a Jedi Knight with a non-clone Admiral and a Clone Commander. You are a General of one Republican army. You have to gather your clone troops and resources to attack the CIS to defend the Republic. If you play online you may get rivalled by other players. You can get the rank of Jedi Master and able to sit in the Jedi Council. You can ask the Jedi Order for a Padawan learner so you could have another Commander of your army. It would like a strategy game. Maybe this game could include Anakin's 501st, Obi-Wan's 212th and other armies as NPCs to offer a tutorial and a single player story mode.
Admiral Trench might be one of your opponents.

Trench isn't likely dead. Possibility that a droid like the supertactical or an if unit that wasn't encountered by Anakin could of taken him to an escape pod for medical treatment offship. Just food for thought.

He's the physical manifestation of plot armor. Probably because they spent a lot of time rendering his model and didn't want it to go to waste after one episode
Plot armor? I wouldn't call half a body blown off polt armor.
He came back like /once/ with half his body roboticised. Compared to the main characters, that hardly feel like plot rmor at work.

To be honest, I think admiral trench made an extremely stupid mistake. So he locked on to Anikan’s magnetic signature and then lowered his shields so that he could fire the torpedoes. That’s really stupid. Why didn’t he just contact one of the many other ships to lock on to the magnetic signature and fire at Anikan rather than lower your shields. Seriously your ship is know for its incredibly strong shields and you lower them when getting attacked, the hell? I do like admiral trenches appearance and how he can make logical decisions but he gets WAY more credit than he deserves.
He was a very very good commander in the clone wars I love a Mastiff space station it was a badass

If trench was such a good tactician why didn’t he just deploy some vulture droids to deal with a somewhat weak stealth ship.

He’s not the type of person that would have vulture droids on standby on top of his ship.

The clone wars always have there group of ships called a "fleet." Yet almost all of them only have 3-4 ships which isn't a fleet.......

No offense but in episode 1 season two the strategy works but the more they use it the less effective they are. It is also impossible to determine a tactic even using the algorithm

Most of the republic admirals served in the corporate defence for the worlds navy
I don't think any clones were admirals. Mainline reason being there were nonclone admirals around the Galaxy with experience, which simulators wouldn't give you. As to why no clones BECAME admirals, the war was only 3 years long, and Venators didn't seem to have a long lifespan...
