Keys from the golden vault did true names really well. I love the idea of a devil whoes true name is *the sound of 3 eggs frying*

Draconic because of Tiamat & the Abishai. Celestial because of the angelic ancestry and the Erinyes. Common probably because of it's universal nature or to tempt material planars in their common tongue.

31:41 In 3.5 they're definitely summoned in and not gated, they last 1 hour and can't summon in extras, plus they go back when killed without any demotion the way a Gated, Called, or portal using Devil would suffer.

Have you researched any of the dragon magazines?

Yes, in my videos on the individual layers I cover the lore Ed Greenwood wrote on them.

4e definitely had Infernal. One of the most unfortunate things about 4e is how poorly it's been archived, due to the shitty licensing (no OGL). But yeah, Infernal definitely existed and was one of the bog standard languages you had to pick from.

Weird, none of their monster manual entries mentioned it

@@Genghis_Sean Yeah, it's weird. And you saying that got me looking into it, because I'm 99% sure I had infernal as a language on my first tiefling wizard. The first reference I can find it from the Player's Handbook races supplement on Tieflings, which says, "Although the people of that great nation spoke Common,
the noble lines of tieflings often used the Infernal tongue
to communicate. While some tieflings have names that are
words in Infernal, names given to tieflings frequently blend
      the sounds of both languages."
It definitely wasn't in PHB, but now I'm left wondering if it was an option in D&D beyond (where we made our characters), or if I'm imagining things.

I guess you had to, given the nature of the video, but in my campaign we never use the "b" word.

      Baatezu?

Most people call a cat a cat. A scientist knows it as a Felidae. Devils are how rank & file clueless know lower planar beings from Hell; Baatezu is what a planarologist would call such a denizen. In my campaign, anyway.

@@davidcardoso3525 ya that’s how I run it, scholars and outsiders use “Baatezu” while everyone else just says devil.

I'm old enough to have lived through the 'satanic panic' and I just found it ridiculous.
It's weird because my mother is a VERY devout Catholic and she got me the Monster Manual 2 for Christmas way back in the day. Lol.
