I noticed that this video is dated Jan 2021 and I just bought my machine (July 2024). It took me 4 years to manifest and dream about my Bernette. I love my machine and know that I will get the best out of it every moment that I will use it. Definitely a sturdy and robust machine.
Here are the several things i have learned altogether about this particular Bernette O5 Academy sewing machine: It was made for schools, so sturdy! Bernette works best with regular not heavy thread. With a standard/zig zag foot you can go through many thick layers, without needing to change to a walking foot. The guides are: a dotted line for winding & placing the bobbin, & a solid line for threading the needle. The colors on stitches & dials correlate with each other. It is top~drop bobbin loading, & has a built-in thread tension nob, & a needle threader, & an included $75 tray table... all great conveniences. It has twelve feet, included. Swiss design specs. Sisters Bernette & Bernina, so they are of related quality. I think i've found the machine i like best!
I just bought one of these. I am older guy just learning to sew for volunteer work for nurse scrub caps. This video helped understand the machine, thanks!
thank you for this video! I hope you could answer a question for me. Needle position wheel - 3 modes- moves a needle about 1/8'' left or right. But I noticed that if I use zigzag size wheel with straight stitch I can get much finer control over needle position. Will I harm my beloved machine by doing so? Thanks in advance for your advice. I fully agree that Bernette academy rocks. I have 2, after watching your video and buying my first Bernette Academy , I got another one. Just in case the first one breaks and they stop making it anymore. I had such sad experiences with other products I liked. one more thing which I hope will help others. I was struggling with very fine fabrics on Bernette (silk chiffon and the likes). I do not have walking foot. But I tried teflon foot and roller foot, and still the fabric was gathering quite awfull despite taught sewing. But I found out that using very fine rayon or silk thread in both upper thread and in bobbin , and microtech needle, the stitches were perfect. Hope it helps some watchers :-)
Basically is a rebadge singer? Looks the same, same knob, reverse button same stitch plate and control pedal, and motor, sounds the same. Just like 4452 and 44s singer. And i think is made in the same country. Thanks por reading my comparisons.
That is inaccurate. It has no affiliation with Singer and is not made by Singer. In fact Bernette does not source any products form Singer. Thank you for your input.
Hi, I recently bought this model and was very happy until it started to spontaneously go in reverse. I've gone twice back to the shop and they can't figure it out. Fiddling around with the bobbin area or shaking the whole machine sometimes gets it going again but that isn't a real fix. Did you find out why this was happening to yours. Any help would be appreciated!
This funny frustrating. I searched for hours Called the shop Needed appt Can't wait for fix 1 hr there, back 2 hr Repair shop for while if serious. I futzed for another hour The button hole foot was down. Called the shop Told what happened We laughed Operator technick lolol Make sure button hole lever on shank is completely up Hope this helps 🙋 🤺💐

Good demonstration. Didn't say anything about the foot pedal 🤔

My new b05 has been chronically sewing in reverse. Why is this happening? What is the solution to this devastating problem?
You should contact your selling dealer. I've never seen this as an issue
@@ronlinhart8059 Thanks

Can I do smocking using this machine..
Of course! It has the power to go through the layers, and it makes a beautiful stitch.
@@ronlinhart8059 thank you so much.
What kind of needles does this machine use?
We use either Bernina or Schmetz, but it does not take a special needle. Just a regular home machine needle.
Is this a mechanical machine?
It's rather see it sewing.
