It's been over a year, and as a Changmin fangirl, I'm still not over Devil. Just perfection. It's crazy to think that 15 year old kid who had no interest in music or performing ended up growing into the kind of singer that can deliver something so theatrical and soulful. Priority is a bop too. Taeyeon and Changmin ate, but I think I actually prefer Winter's soft and smooth little runs.
Devil was originally released by the Swedish soul & blues singer Alex Runo (who has also produced/written for SuJu & TVXQ). It was then sold to Changmin/SM & lyrics were rewritten to fit what Changmin intended after being inspired by the song + his feelings living through the pandemic iirc. You can find Alex's original here on YT and it's great but def lyrically more gospel -- Changmin actually mentions him/the original in his press con and I'd def rec giving it a listen!
Albert, you are a delight // I am surprised that Changmin did not win lots of awards for this song // it was a master work of theatrics. and it was so rich and gorgeous. The trio with him and Taeyeon and Winter was such a breezy listen and they sounded great together. Thanks Micah and Albert for the reaction to these amazing artists.
Not Albert knowing about his hive on here 😂 Priority had him in his feelings! It's crazy how much maturity Changmin developed as a vocalist. And his and Taeyeon's voices fit like a glove together. They have such similar tone. Duet album when??
Changmin will be releasing a new song soon and it will be a rock song with crazy vocals! I hope you'll react to that as well ❤ thank you for the video!!
I will forever love you for spreading the hangman - devil agenda!!! Like it was easily one of the best songs last year (and mini album btw) Changmin showed the kids how it's done! He gave me everything that was missing because Baekhyun wasn't there
Albert!! of course we remember you! we love your reactions and your analysis on music and artists! Also, whoever hurt you... fk him! There is a Chinese saying that goes: If the old doesn't go, the new doesn't come! 😬 Thanks for appreciating Max Changmin!❤️
I feel sorry that I didn't know about KPop when TVXQ was the real deal. Changmin's performance (e.g. Fever) reminds me of Robbie Williams. He is great on stage.
a little unrelated but I would love to see you react to Good Night and Wrong Number (live music core) by TVXQ. Good Night is insane vocally and really up your alley imo and Wrong Number has my favorite high note in kpop
Tbh, there are a LOT of SM songs that i'm sure can be huge on USA, Europe .. but idk why SM never properly push and promote those kind of songs out there ..... instead, they push the experimental ones .. i know SM is so innovative, but i feel like there are a lot of missed opportunities ... just my thoughts
I think this is probably a minority opinion, but the vocals on Priority are over-compressed. This track features three of the very best vocalists at SM. Changmin and Winter are students of Yoo YoungJin, legendary SM producer and vocal coach. Taeyeon is just Taeyeon. This track should have been earthshaking, but it's kind of boring and flat. The production is smooth and safe. The vocals are squished into lifelessness. It's a nice song, but a missed opportunity. Compare the production with a masterpiece like INVU, and you'll hear the difference in dynamics.
Oh I said this several times. I’m pretty sure I did a community post about it in December and used INVU as a reference lol. It always feels like the volume is at 85% and just doesn’t hit which is why I’ve never been obsessed with the song though I enjoy listening to it out loud.
One thing about SM groups they’re going to give you vocals and one thing about Micah he’s gonna show his friends good vocals and songs.
THIS!!
