- In this video, I test out my new Tikka T3X Lite Bolt-action Rifle chambered in 308 Winchester, for the first time. This is a light weight rifle, shooting a not so light round. The out of the box kick was not unnoticeable. However, I was able to found the perfect solution to the recoil issue with the help of a LimbSaver Recoil Pad.
Equipment List:
LimbSaver Recoil Pad - amzn.to/40sJigM
Scope - amzn.to/49kE8HB
Shooting Bags - amzn.to/3QMO05q
Ear Protection - amzn.to/3sieKS9
BoreSnake (Rifle Cleaning Tool) - amzn.to/3QiDFwQ
Bore Cleaning Solution - amzn.to/3uaVHti
Thanks, I have a Tikka in 300 win mag. I was going to have the barrel threaded, but I ordered the limbsaver recoil pad first. Have a great day!
How is the recoil now with just the new pad? Thinking about a 3006.
Can't even feel it anymore now!
Good to know….just ordered for my tikka 300wm. Didn’t even shoot it yet, but it comes with muzzle break.
Wondering now much recoil I’ll have with muzzle break and limbsaver
@RoshamboOutdoors yeah it would be interesting to know. let us know when you try it out!!
Nice demo and great upgrade with the Limbsaver
Thanks very much!!! Happy ice fishing this year!! Good luck out there!!
@@LuRanOutdoors the holes on the pad are so small? Just use a regular phillips head screwdriver?
@rainsong7327 yeah I used a smaller one, so I don't damage the rubber on the pad.
Hi Lu. Nice gun. Nice soft recoil pad. Zuzu wants in on the action 😂The Tikka action sound so smooth. Good for you, Lu, enjoy. Hi Hayley! 😊💖from Deifenbaker
Thanks very much Delphine!! Zuzu just wants to be in the center of everything. Hahaha. Fingers crossed I can harvest some deer meat this fall before icefishing!! :)
Now just replace that factory trigger spring with one from Mountain Tactical, put the set screw out so that it touches the bolt head of the trigger mount screw which is the lightest pull the trigger can achieve, and you'll be set.
Hahahaha
Be sure to replace the aluminum recoil block in the stock with a steel one from Tikka for magnum calibers.
Not sure if .308 is magnum enough but keep an eye on if it starts denying the aluminum recoil block in the stock. Will cause groups to start opening up and losing accuracy.
Other than that you couldn’t have picked a better rifle.
Thanks very much for the comment! I had no idea about that. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Appreciate the hot tip!!
And yeah, loving the rifle so far, no complaints for its price range.
I think they all come with steel recoil blocks now.
Oh really??! That's brutal.. haha
@@LuRanOutdoors i meant recoil lug
@rainsong7327 oh I see. 👍
Cool video and cool review! Big Tikka fan here. Like you I wish the Limbsaver pad didn't change the feel of shouldering the rifle so much...but most of my 308 shooting will be with Barnes 110gr and 130gr bullets.
Nice to see another Canadian shooter on TH-cam!
That's awesome! Thanks for watching and the comments my fellow tikka fan!! Cheers my friend!!
@@LuRanOutdoors No prob! Keep up the great work!
@joelodjick230 thanks so much sir!!!
i had same issue, after deer season send your gun to “custom gun worx” in rocky mountain house AB and get a muzzle break installed…. the guy does such a nice job!!!! and almost all your felt recoil will be gone…… louder but who cares about that. that 308 will recoil like a 22lr
Thanks for the hot tip!! I don't mind it at all now with the limbsaver. But muzzle break is definitely another great solution. I'll have to consider that if I get an even bigger caliber in the future!!
@@LuRanOutdoorsthere’s a guy in Saskatoon who threads barrels also
what did it cost to get it threaded and the muzzle break?
Nice clothing line. Maybe you could talk textiles like polyester, lambs wool, merino, Alpaca, down etc and how to be comfortable in outdoor paradise. And anything that blocks wind. 😂
For sure! Would be awesome to have a clothing line in the future!!
I'm worried about this channel. Who will carry on in case of an accident. Is there a Luran Jr. or Lurana in the works? Cuz the world needs more of Luran.
Knock on wood there won't be any accidents happening to me... lol
Get the muzzle threaded. It will reduce the actual recoil. The pad just makes it feel softer whereas the muzzle brake will actually reduce the amount of recoil the gun gives.
Hey thanks for the suggestion. I don't mind the set up now with the limbsaver actually. Still shoots accurate and doesn't make the rifle any louder with a muzzle break. Unfortunately we are not allowed to use surpresers for hunting in my area...
great video thanks
Thanks very much for watching and commenting!!! 😀
Nice video and great gun for sure.
Thanks very much!!! I'm liking the Tikka so far! Would recommend!!
Interesting. The Lite Version is said to have a more robust recoil pad than the Superlight, maybe not quite the case..
It is very robust and quality made. But not very soft at all. Very stiff.
Thanks for the info. @@LuRanOutdoors
@@lewisgl of course! No problem!!
Great your self a limb saver pad
I would 100 percent recommend
I have the limbsaver on all of my Tikkas. Just don't store your rifle upright on that recoil pad. They are so soft they can deform over time if you store the rifle like you would in a gun safe.
That's awesome!! Great to know! Thanks very much for the heads up, I'm going to go move that rifle rightnow. Haha
@@LuRanOutdoors Mine are stored barrel down or in a soft case sidelying
@derekmcmurry cool cool!! Thanks for letting me know!!!
considering same rifle in stainless steal. 308. not sure about optics yet though
Great choice! I wish I had gotten the stainless steel one tbh. You will like it!!!
That's what my best friend went with. He got the one with the laminated stock in 30-06. You won't regret the purchase. I regret not spending the money 12 years ago when they just over $1000 CAD. Their build quality is awesome.
@charleslefebvre5515 tikka is the way to go, such a good rifle for the price!
@@LuRanOutdoors yeah I regret not getting one when I was getting my first rifle. I ended up getting the ruger American all-weather in .308. I paid about half the price of a tikka. It is a good budget rifle. Overall I've been happy. But when I had the chance to shoot my buddies tikka I was blown away at how much better of a rifle it was. Tikka's fit and finish is awesome. I just wish they would thread their stainless barrels. My next rifle I want the ability to add a muzzle break.
@charleslefebvre5515 there might be models of tikka that do have a threaded barrel now. Might be worth a look!
Hi luran im from sasketchewan estevan. Where is that shooting range?
Hi there! This is by Regina!
Use some wireless mics so we can hear properly when you are away from the camera
Thanks for the suggestion. I am accepting mic donations, let me know if you got one for me.
Very light recoil on the 308 win or no recoil
With the limbsaver you can barely feel it. However, the factory stock you do feel it quite a bit with thin clothing.
Is there a compensator for these? Like a bolt on one? Or do u have to make a thread
Unfortunately it doesn't have that. And it's none threaded barrow for this one.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
👍👍👍
Tikka are made by sako and say the barrel doesnt need to be broken in..
Oh really... interesting. Good to know. Thanks for your comment!
True Fact. I found out with the T3X I just got. Without sounding like bragging I got my 6.5 Creedmoor shooting half MOA at 200 yds. with Federal Premium ammo with Berger bullets. Never experienced that with only running a half a box through a brand new rifle. Only cleaned before shooting the first round and again after 10 rounds.
Sweet!!! Thanks for the comment!! Great to know!!!
@@LuRanOutdoorsno cold hammer forged barrel needs to be broken in regardless of who produced it. Next time you zero fire one round from a solid rest like a led sled or bags. Put your rifle back on the bullseye and move turrets on scope to center them on the bullet hole in target. Readjust for the bullseye and shoot again. It’ll save you a ton of ammo. You can fine tune after that.
@mikekoehler7098 hey thanks very much for your comments! Very helpful!!
Tikka Rifle $2499.00
Ammo Used 50c box
What model?
@@antoneburbidge7828 haha I was thinking the same tbh...
Its actually like $700-$900 rifle
@antoneburbidge7828 yeah probably 7-900 in usd. In Canada it's around 1000-1200 cad.
Lin- are you an American citizen? Where do you live??
Hi there, I am from Canada.
