The priest’s responses make this scene so funny. When Vince Vaughn kisses and and he quietly says ‘dear god.’ I never noticed it before but I’m cracking up.
Although primarily a supporting role, I thought Henry Gibson did pretty good playing the priest in Wedding Crashers! It was also one of his last acting roles before his death from cancer in 2009.
Henry Gibson (the priest) was known to be an intelligent, wise, very kind and very sweet man in real life. I feel like Vince saying that part about the priest being enlightened and a sweet man was him truly talking to Henry. Henry’s subtle smile, nod and putting out his hand for a handshake seemed like a genuine reaction and I don’t think he expected the kiss either. This was a hilarious scene, but a sweet one too. Rest easy, Henry.

Vaughn in the early 2000s was a bit like Drew Brees in that - he was absolutely one of the GOATs of his era, and indeed all-time, but he’s just overshadowed in legacy by the juggernaut that was Will Ferrell’s own Tom Brady-esque run. Make no mistake tho, VV can run with the best of them when he’s on and in a vehicle that plays to his strengths. He’s a goddamn legend for scenes like this.

He needs to do that typical Hollywood breakthrough thing that pigeon-holed actors do, take an extreme role so far removed from their normal role that we no longer see that actor. E.g. drop 60kg for a serious role or something along those lines
I had heard that much of this movie was basically unscripted! That they just let the actors go with whatever fit the scene! Christopher Watkins did an awesome job also

0:28-0:56 this scene wasnt in the final cut of the movie if I remember correctly because was a bit too much for the tone of the movie. A bit too vulgar and offensive even if the rest of the clip 1:00-2:25 is fucking hilarious comedy GOLD, that bit was unnecessary i am glad the cut it

I think this was like the director's cut where they added in footage that was cut for the theatrical release film. I noticed that with some Seinfeld episodes as well, there's some episodes that you watch on the DVD set and they've added in more material in certain scenes that you don't see on like TBS or other channels that air the reruns.
Jeremy threw everything that Catholicism has typically shunned. He talked about lusting, sleeping around all over, his entire deception, and all involving Gloria, and then being mentally unstable and finally,...the cherry on top....he kissed the man on the lips. All of this might be fine if he wasn't the Cleary's family friend.
