Thank you sir for posting... I missed that feature and it's one of the best I've seen in years. Ive met Mr Landry three times and attended his day when they honored him on Apr 22 1989.. it was the best cowboys event I ever attended and he was a real class act.

You are welcome John. Yes, it was one of the best segments of his military service I have seen as well. What a great event to attend in April 1989. His remarks are also posted here on this channel at th-cam.com/video/cCb8khhGEqw/w-d-xo.html. I am not sure yet, but I may post the whole event eventually.

I feel blessed to have run across this video. My dad was a B17 pilot shot down Oct.17, 1943. in Regensburg raid. He Loved Coach Landry, and always bet on the Cowboys to win :)
When Mr Hobbs cried , I did too.

Looked up: masculinity, patriarchy, leader, fortitude, temperance in the dictionary; found a picture of Tom Landry

My dad was almost a month older that Tom Landry and was also a WWII bomber pilot. His experience was very similar and as mentioned in this video Landry didn’t talk much about his war experiences. Same as my dad and most other WWII vets. They didn’t talk about it much. The vetting process produced an incredibly smart and amazing group of guys who became pilots. I was lucky enough to not only be raised by one of those guys but grew up around a lot of my dad’s friends who were also WWII pilots.

His story ought to be shared, many did not talk much about their experiences. If you do enough research you'll have a chance to find something out. I went through something similar and was able to put stories together. There are many WWII sources out there.
