    Pro tip: Ask for extras of all the things at the hospital. Pads, mesh panties, witch hazel pads, dermoplast, the ice packs you put in your pants. The amazing L&D nurses will hook you up.

    • @carolinatelona6156
      @carolinatelona6156 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This only really helps if you have good insurance. An incredibly large portion of hospitals will put all the "extras" that you take in the bill that they either send you or the insurance companies. It can actually really increase the hospital bill without you knowing until well after you leave.

    Padsicles are the easiest. Just get a large sanitary pad put some aloe Vera gel, witch hazel and lavender oil- smear it on the pad and freeze it. Then place it in your underwear. Better than keeping up with those witch hazel pads and trying to keep them in place.

    To anyone about to enter this stage I say, try to go to the bathroom before you address your baby. By the time you feel the “gotta go” sensation it’s an emergency situation. I rushed to the bathroom with my baby still latched more times than I care to admit 🙈

    Other tips - dermoplast, extra cooling packs from the hospital, TAKE A 15 MINUTE BATH (no soap or anything) every day. You might have to sit on a hand towel in the water if your bottom hurts, my mom suggested “relieving myself” in the tub, tucks pads, nice always infinity pads instead of cheap puffy pads, take ibuprofen every day

    Did you tear? I was so depressed and traumatized after my birth because I got a 4th degree tear and the fear of lifelong bowel, urinary and sexual issues if I didn’t heal correctly. I asked my doctor if I could have prevented it and all he said was I should have listened to him and chose induction at 39 weeks (arrive trial and I went into labor 5 days after he wanted to schedule induction for that) 🙄. He pushed that on me the entire time and made me feel like a bad mom because I didn’t want to be induced, I wanted my baby to come when she was ready. I can’t think about having another kid right now but when I do I’m definitely getting a doula because these doctors don’t understand the whole mind body connection. Just to get baby out safely. Which is great but moms loving the birth experience is so important for after baby comes because all I could think about was feeling betrayed by the doctors and the terror of sneezing or struggling to hold her and change boobs because the left boob she kept rejecting but at the same time sitting was so painful. It is insane what moms go through...I’m just grateful for my sister who has 5 kids and was there for all my crazy moments. Her reassurance was like having someone hold an umbrella and rain jacket over me in a hurricane in the middle of the ocean

    • @bleechrcreechrr
      @bleechrcreechrr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So sorry for what you went thought, if you ever have another baby I hope you have a better doctor and a doula to help advocate for you. Shayla said in a different video she did tear bc of how her baby came out. But she also talks about things you can do to prevent tearing. From peoples stories I heard it sounds like a lot of the time you tear anyway, but it may reduce the severity of the tear. Wish nothing but the best for you

      I had a very bad experience with my pregnancy and birth but going to a doula puts you in danger in case of complications What I suggest is to migrate and have your baby in a private hospital in a country with a good reputation.

    Uhhhh... maybe this is weird, but I DO talk to my friends about this stuff. I actually give everyone I know, a can of Dermaplast (lidocaine spray) & a soft, washable ice pack to every expecting Mama, @ their baby shower. Mainly because nobody warned me, and I feel like that's just cruel. & I also give them, like, a little basket with nice lip balms, a little hand cream, some cute barrettes, eye masks, etc. I had a friend do this for me when I had my son & I cried for 10mins because I felt so "seen"- everyone gives you stuff for the baby but nobody really acknowledges that giving birth is a BIG deal for Mama, too. So it's nice to have some little self-care items.

    • @ShaisTime
      @ShaisTime 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to get a perineal repair also 2 years after my birth 🥴🥴. Or aka perineoplasty. But I did have tears but I did get stitches but my stitches popped and my dr didn’t want to re stitch me 🙃 So I ended up NOT healing right whatsoever and actually tore more, and the tissues didn’t come together and I got SCAR tissue. So it had to be cut out and restitched. (perineoplasty) it’s very very painful recovering. I’m 4 weeks post op but it’s worth it ! And I wish I did it sooner. Can’t wait to be fully healed and I just wanted to share with you my experience. If you got it done I would love to hear yours !
