  • Why did Dallas Drown Fishy? Were we teaching a young man a valuable life lesson, or did we retcon revenge?

I’d say the biggest lesson that was taught, is that “the old guys” have many years of experiencing pranks and traps and gotchas and will always-ALWAYS-return the favor with interest. And it’s all in good fun-builds camaraderie. These timeless pranks aren’t to be wasted on those we don’t wish to keep in our circles. Keep it going, Dallas (and crew)! No harm done. 👍🏻

If one of my buddies sprayed me like that while I was trying to film, I definitely would have filed it away for future use. One of the things that come with age is forethought and knowing the consequences of your actions. I, for one, would not want to be on the wrong side of a 7' tall Canukistani Hoser.

I feel like there's a little bit of revisionist history here...but you mostly made up for it with your sincere praise of the Fish.

"If you don't teach the boys, how will the men know" is a great and true saying. I'm just not convinced about your method (throwing Fishy in the river). I understand that you then speak in his language model/mode so he understands it, but it also leaves the door open for escalation. There are (many) other ways to address this, I believe. It all depends on the people involved. (PS I have a psychotherapist degree as a background)

Great comment, Peter. Definitely many, many ways to convey this idea. At the time, I thought that giving him the same type of afternoon I was going to have seemed fitting - cold and wet.

I suspected a bit you may have partly bent this to your message and DITR comments reinforce this belief. BUT I get you I have a team of 20 staff 16 to 20 ish years old every summer and normally about half are new. There is always a few that push back on the hierarchy and a few that watch and know the consequences coming. I believe this is important lessons they dont get in school anymore. I also believe this clear tough love is why so many come back year after year.
The pranks just for pranks are fun too and they quickly learn the ol guy hasn't forgotten.... anything. Lol
    Great vid Dallas

Since I was there to see this firsthand...Fishy earned that dunking! Don't f'k with the tall one...he will pay back! And the hilarity that ensued...the jumper cables (yeah, sure, Jason), the tire to tire attempt, etc. were great entertainment. Fishy is a better man (?) for it!

Not everyone is biologically blessed with a family including good parenting skills. Fishy's behavior indicated his need for parental-style intervention, which you provided in an elegent form. Sometimes it takes a gang to raise a child...

😁 Luckily, the Fishy comes from an excellent family and he will be a successful human. I think the opportunity presented itself and he, like any young man would do, decided to take it. 😂

Fishy overstepped the mark and got his arse, proverbially, skelped, or at least drowned. On a more serious note a helluva lot of young people don't get these lessons and that is why some of them are going off the rails. Lesson learned but it was all in good fun :-)

Great lesson learned by young Fishy! As a retired military guy, these lessons cannot be understated from both a personal and a team building perspective. This also imprinted a lasting memory that will be bookmarked and recalled around many campfires down the road.

I thought this was a bit too apologetic. Just to save face on TH-cam. Are the dork fans hating? Or other grizzbait people?
You guys look like friends having a good time goofing off. I am kinda skeptical that in that same day you thought you should teach him a lesson, therefore retaliate. More like just get the friend back workout harmful intentions.
The ride was about having fun. You both had fun. Yes, slowing the group down was a negative consequence, whether expected or not. The whole day had a lot of water. It should be expected, but nonetheless is regrettable.
After this vid i watched your camaraderie one, and I get it.
    Keep it up! Subbed.
