instead of saying "the lowest number of sig figs," i should say "the lowest number of decimal places." 119 doesn't have any decimal places, but 84.3 has one. so that's why i draw the line to the right of 119, because it has the least number of *decimal* places.
Question: 3.56 cm x 4 cm. That equals out to 14.24, but because the lowest number of significant numbers is just one, does that mean the answer is just 1 cm? Because that just doesn't seem right.

Should you rounding 2.835 to 2.84?
on the 2,835 why did you round down to 2,830 instead of rounding up?
4 years later and I still have the same question
Yoooooo I just thought the same exact thing!!! I was like that answer is wrong!!! I'm glad someone else caught this too
@@betsystone1759 same here bioooooooooooooooooooooo
wow 7 years ago. I have the same question LMAO
i felt like i should continue this string and say that i am also confused LOL
Ok you just literally saved my chemistry class for me as i was so lost with when to use sig fig or not . Thanks even if i am 8 yrs late
Thank you so much. this is so much more clear than its been in my 'pseudo virtual class room.' really really appreciate it!!!
He posted during the video saying he made a mistake when he rounded down, so stop hating you nerds
Why did you round down the 2,835 to 2,830? Isn't it supposed to be 2,840?
Yes you are right he was supposed to round up to 2,840 not 2,830 I caught this too
@@betsystone1759 wowowowowwoowowowowowowoowowowo yoooooooooon sammeeeeeeeeee nbiooooooo
thank you so much for this simple and clear video
Taking Chem 11 as an adult and they assume we remember all these things I guess, I was very confused, thanks for clearing this up!

how about other exact numbers? pi or 2.54 cm in 1 in etc. do we use significant figures?
no:), (as i know to my best knowledge)
great job
very helpful. thankyou
why are counting numbers infinit?
This is because it cannot have sig figs because we are not estimating, it's a set number
If you write 117,000. for 9:08 then it would look like 6 significant figures
Why does 500 have infinite significant figures
Only zeros at the beginning of a number are insignificant. Zeros at the END ARE SIGNIFICANT.
thanxxxxxxxxxx alot..........
5:44 that is so weird.
You rounded down not up you get an F sir.
it was a mistake, he said later
