I have been waiting since my 90s childhood when this album dropped to hear a good version of it. There's a fuzzy ass version out there but it's not that great
I remember seeing the original zao lineup many times at the local shows and almost every weekend them and 2 or 3 other bands would play at some community building or at some park that was some good times
I stopped listening to Zao after The Fear is what keeps up here 43:45 has made me regret that decision. Glad they are still around. One of the few bands that has real longevity in the genre.
@OnitsukaTiger82 I definitely had to catch up. Their other albums are amazing as well after checking them out. It's good to see they haven't let up on their style like most bands after a few albums. Zao still sounds like Zao, just a maturing version of themselves.
Hey listen...Daniel, Russ, Scott, everyone...You guys aren't just historically this big spiritually important band, despite being secular? all of us being non-religous in our day to day life, your music almost had the signifigance of a deity for YEARS of our early childhood. My ENTIRE band have early ZAO tattoos (again, not because of the Christian aspects of ZAOs formative years) or stickers on their cars, as I do myself....Please, I know you guys take time away from big families who need you to do come home, but every day you stay on the road, I can see in the the audience right here👆🏻in the video. You are SO massively affecting people's lives in untold ways...please don't go on some hiatus again. Keep rocking....We need ya. Not just music, you, your group. Thanks brothers. -from a secular AF dude in the Caolinas and his "mutineer metal" group ☠
From Cornerstone in...2001 I think to last year when I saw them, I've loved every show. Even the shaky era shows; the worst was a show just Dan, Scott and Jesse. It still blew me away. What this is missing is a cam on Russ's face. He's a fucking trip.
Saw them live during their Funeral of God era, got my knucles tattooed "Feed It Pain" in 2018, can't wait for their new shit in 2019 and see them live again before I pass.
Usually can't stand religious metal but It's Hard Not to Shake With A Gun in Your Mouth is one of the greatest tunes ever IMO. Just started jamming Fear... again and am so glad they're still rocking it
Yeah, I think after the funeral of god and along with all the lineup changes they stoped being a "religious" band. Also I completely agree! Its hard not to shake with a gun in your mouth is hands down one of my favourite songs!
This might be the best sounding video of a metal show I’ve ever heard. Kind of cool to hear it bc I was there and this sounds even more clear than when I was there. You can tell how tight these dudes really are... especially Russ. I was always like there’s no way he’s paying attention to what he’s doing.... but he is and he’s spot on.
The original zao lineup is from my home town we would go see them play just about every weekend at some community building or wherever them and a few other bands was playing this would have been between 1994 - 1996 one of my friends from school replaced the original singer and was on some of the earlier CDs that was some good times then.
Detar? He joined an emo band called the juliana theory. This was like 20 years ago or more though. I think he works on movies or something now. He was from Latrobe PA which is close to Greensburg where Zao is from. I was involved with these bands as a kid.
awesome but kinda surprising how much Dan just hides out in the back and crouches, you never see any frontmen doing that, I get he has issues but he could be a little more engaging, Scott pretty much does all the talking and they dont even break between songs
So many of the lyrics are about his greatest anxieties and most personal tragedies. And he also feeds off of the energy of the band. It actually can be pretty engaging if you're there.

Hey why do they never play resistance live
37:45 - Lies of Serpents, River of Tears; iconic.
Fawk yea !
THANK YOU!
The time stamp I need 🙏🏼
Have heard so many muddy mixes on You Tube from other venues - it’s such a relief that we have Leo who, invariably, gets the vocal levels spot on.
Why this doesnt have 70 million views is beyond me
I’m not that popular of a channel quite yet - maybe one day!
Because Zao isn’t that popular.
Savannah at 34:53; one of the best songs ever written or performed. ZAO
Totally agree. Such a great track.
I have been waiting since my 90s childhood when this album dropped to hear a good version of it. There's a fuzzy ass version out there but it's not that great
Chills
Oh man, I'm going to have to dig into that ZAO catalog again. I miss running around at work listening to these guys.
That's probably not safe 😉
Damn, A Tool To Scream is such a badass song. Zao = legends
There is no SAFE PLACE!!! The martyr, MARTYR, MARTYR, MARTYR!!
Love that song.
Dan’s vocals are so gnarly in the best way possible.
I remember seeing the original zao lineup many times at the local shows and almost every weekend them and 2 or 3 other bands would play at some community building or at some park that was some good times
49:55 To Think of You Is To Treasure an Absent Memory..... My favorite Zao song with such an amazing meaning.
Dude I saw them 15 yrs ago and they said they were hanging it up. Glad to hear they still rock.
Correction 18 yrs
They're releasing new music! Lots of it and it's just as good as their old stuff. They press vinyl and album packs go support them on bandcamp!!
1:02:13 the ghost psalm. My favorite song by them
Savannah straight into Lies of serpents -- wow!
ZAO lives on......

Damn, best sound quality for a Zao show I've seen on here, and for such a small club, I am IMPRESSED! Nicely done!

Hear hear, 'non believer' here..with a Zao tattoo 😀
Great concert. Love the sound. And the guys on the stage.

Saw them back in 2004 with Dillinger Escape Plan. It was a show!!!!
Russ Cogdell is a force of nature. I don't know where his energy comes from, and maybe it's best that way.
20:00 The Rising End
This mix has spoiled my ears for future live recordings 😭
Saw them live during their Funeral of God era, got my knucles tattooed "Feed It Pain" in 2018, can't wait for their new shit in 2019 and see them live again before I pass.

Thanks for the upload audio sounds great my dude
Ty guys, epic!
That drummer fucking kicks ass
very impressed best recorded live set. props to the sound engineers !!
the audio on this is AWESOME .... !!
I was there. awesome

Was your friends name Shawn Jonas?
well look at this youtube treasure i found today. awesome!! :)
wish i was there
Great quality. Nice work! 🤘🤘
Awesome recording! Thank you!
Another amazing concert.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!
This man was literally faced toward the drummer. And then turns. I love it.
This mix is so solid. The bass doesn't just sound like a cloud of mud in the mix. Good soundwork
Awesome 🇧🇷❤️☠️🔥🔥🔥🔥
WHY DON'T THEY EVER PLAY FREE THE THREE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!???
I hope you guys come back to Canada if this covid crap ever ends! Last time I saw zAo was when they were touring for funeral of God!
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
That intro tho!
Top band exelente metalcore salve do brasil camaradas.
GOATs
Minute 45 great song
Mrs. Tarantino: Are you police?
Elwood: No mam, we're musicians.
Setlist? Also thanks!
Damn it's good!
How did they never find a better drummer?
Interesting they ended with Ghost Psalm
Scott looks annoyed when that dude comes up and sits on the stage. I'd be annoyed too.
Can anyone tell me who is the other vocalist on song 5 (everything you love will soon fly away)?
Os this the place with a chair attached to the ceiling?
Does Zao tune to 432hz?
Twin Peaks and Zao go together like Cream Corn and sorrow.
51:22 would be nice if someone transcripted this
What ever happened to the Bret guy that used to play with zao?
Detar? He joined an emo band called the juliana theory. This was like 20 years ago or more though. I think he works on movies or something now. He was from Latrobe PA which is close to Greensburg where Zao is from. I was involved with these bands as a kid.
Dan's voice here sounds like it hurts, I feel very uncomfortable in contrast to his usual hollow/acidic voice
2 things…
1. Who did guest vocals on everything you love…
2. That “trashcanhands” fake out was fucking CRUEL 😅 well played
I think it might have been the singer from The Atlas Moth. It looks like they were touring together at the time.
What is the first song? Is that from one of the newer 7" releases?
Fuck what's the first song?
沙发
Disappointing how uncomfortable most of them look on stage... except the guitar player closest to us
Russtafer cogdell!
Xenophobe - great song.
awesome but kinda surprising how much Dan just hides out in the back and crouches, you never see any frontmen doing that, I get he has issues but he could be a little more engaging, Scott pretty much does all the talking and they dont even break between songs
He's gotta stay back there or Russ will knock his block off
Their music speaks for itself fuck all that performer bullshit
This is definitely not a live mix, guitars are definitely pre-recorded compared to what we are seeing or are studio versions for sure.
This frontman is not facing the crowd most of the time...
Dan never does
He doesn't need to tho (you know how many shows he's done)
Ever seen tool live? The singer does the same
F the crowd. They’re lucky to witness Zao live!
So many of the lyrics are about his greatest anxieties and most personal tragedies. And he also feeds off of the energy of the band. It actually can be pretty engaging if you're there.
