In realization of Borongan LGU’s flagship program, the centerpiece of City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda’s administration, Dukwag Agrikultura was finally launched on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Teatro Ibabawnon, Eastern Samar State University, Maypangdan, Borongan City.
“Natoo kita, nga tagan ngani naton hin importansya, tagan ngani naton hin dako nga duon iton agrikultura, damo iton aton igkasi-Borongan in mapapaupay, mapapadukwag it ira mga kinabuhi,” Agda said in his speech.
The city will support everyone who wants to become agri-entrepreneurs through cash loan assistance as an investment for agriculture business, with 0% interest. Agda proudly announced that the city has allotted Php26, 500,000.00 even before the program started and Php100M annually in the next three consecutive years solely for cash loan assistance to be benefited by our farmers, fishermen and livestock hog-raisers.
During the launching, the Bureau of Soils and Water Management Office (BSWM) led by Mr. Salvador A. Fabula, Field Implementation Team Leader, presented the output on soil investigation of the seven proposed pilot barangays of Borongan City, namely Brgy. Bugas, Brgy. Sta Fe, Brgy.Tamoso, Brgy. San Gabriel, Brgy. San Jose, Brgy. Calicoan and Brgy. Suhotan.
Agda thanked the active and equally supportive Sangguniang Panglusod members led by Vice Mayor Emmanuel Tiu Sonco. He plead for everyone’s cooperation, especially barangays captains, who will be the partner of the city in implementation of the program. He reminded them to exercise fairness and honesty in helping one another to become successful in line of agriculture.
