Gary Numan is god all-mighty dynamic Synth harbinger, his tracks of 1979 still sound entirely fresh- The super late 90s and into Y2Ks NIN phase was pretty genius and for sure gave him the main stage anew, but as fast as you can say hair metal eclipsed by grunge overnight, dude will be toast. The Mad Max clothes gotta go. And furthest thing from wicked androgynous yet intentionally stiff and cold character at the dawn of New Wave is hands down not only what made the man but was so far ahead of his time and the entire pack as a leader not a follower that clinging to the more guitar heavy Synth-lite sound, and looks, is exactly what will [rapidly] make the stage shrink smaller and smaller and he be left to throwing his [totally cool gorgeous] teen daughter who’s voice is so darn mousy quiet that you can’t even hear it into to the already kinda stale mix. The slightly sexy very sinister alien with the tight haircut, white face and guyliner dressed Mod-caliber sharp down to the slim nectar surrounded by glowing neon and backed by a sh*tload of rich Synths topped off my heavily mic-ed up drums is the MF be all that the real legions old + young want, and them legions are who will continue to pay big and file into bigger venues and we all know it. And before you say it, no his staying true to his light years ahead game is not a step backward but rather a supersonic blast forward. Just ask any aspiring 23 year old soundcloud #Synthwave artist, they could bite his legendary analog sound for the next decade and still never catch up! #TubewayArmyForever 👽
