    Just purchased an R10 and haven't even taken it out of the box. I did find this useful and noted your comment about needing a basis of comparison. Where I live there are several golf stores that will actually let you rent out a Trackman for given period. Since I don't have Awesome Golf app., I think I could still get good data by renting a Trackman and dialing in my numbers that way. Just thought I would toss this idea out for others who also don't have the Awesome app to provide baseline data. Thanks for all of your reviews; I will definitely be checking them all out. I already plan on making my own metal dots based on another one of your videos 🙂

    I did this exact same test with GW through 5i and found 99% of the time my yardage was within 3 meters of each other without changing weather settings. Here is the weather settings I had in Garmin app. Luckily i still had an awesome golf trial time to do this comparison. I can be confident in my HTH numbers now, at least confident enough for a high handicap golfer.

    Hi David. I've been watching all your videos about the Garmin R10 and I just bought it. I'm wondering it the Spornia SPG7 net would be able to take 200mph+ drives. What do you think? When you use the Awesome Golf app with the Garmin R10 is it as accurate as using the Mevo Plus?
    I’m not so much worried about my distances as much as I am concerned with slices and hooks. My thoughts are if I have the numbers for my club path and face I can try to work on that to hit straighter shots more often. Another great video. Appreciate the extent to which you dig into these issues. Interesting that one can manipulate the variables (altitude, temp, humidity) to get the distances one desires for each club, rather than setting the unit up for the conditions at one's own club/range location. Nice to see that you can get the desired distances on Garmin to coincide with Awesome Golf for each club. That's a lot of setting manipulation when you are hitting 8 or 10 clubs out at the range. Per Fdo Lobo's question, is there an average setting that would give more accurate Garmin results (than the standard R10 settings) yet not require manipulation of settings each time we change clubs?

    no need to have awesome golf (especially considering it's price). you either need to have garmin watch and then you really know what are your distances or laser and check it couple of times. you don't really know that awesome golf numbers are ok... you have to know from the course and only then you can say they are ok but then you can also say that garmin app distances are off by certain number. 👊

    I don’t really understand how having to change variables for every club is okay. First off it means that the weather settings in HTH aren’t accurate. I could understand that manipulating it once for the first club and then all clubs are accurate would be easily understood as a difference between apps. But having to change the variables for every club? You might as well just use Awesome Golf. And that is assuming that Awesome Golf is spot on. There is a video where a player and buddy with a flag laser every shot carry distance and compare to one of the apps. Can’t remember which. But that would be the only true measurement of accuracy. A couple questions; What prompts your decision to manipulate the altitude vs the relative humidity vs temperature to increase the Garmin's accuracy? Do you find that adjusting one parameter, eg. altitude gets greater changes (+ or - yardage) whereas another is better for fine tuning the numbers? I'm trying to assess when each of these should be appropriately tweaked. Also once you get the correct numbers for a given club--based on tweaking altitude, humidity, and temperature--do you find that you get equally accurate numbers for that club several weeks later or do you have to go through the whole process again?

    Hi David and thanks for all your videos :-) I've just purchase the R10 and tried the Awesome golf App, it's really nice ! (It's just a bit annoying that you couldn't download all your datas to do a post analysis at home as I'm using it at my home club driving range. If you know how to extract all that, I would be happy to hear about ;-) ) Anyway, concerning the accuracy of the Awesome App distance. Do we know in which weather condition the app is calculating it ? If it's cold outside, and hitting range balls, will that affect my distance in the app ? I'm playing today for example, it's gonna be cold, but I don't know if I should relate on the distance data from awesome golf app. Or if I should consider that are the datas in perfect condition (sunny and hot day) and therefore, adapt the awesome golf calculated distances to the weather/temperature condition when I'm on the course ?

    Entertaining video once again! However, I am honestly more concerned with accurate numbers for lateral movement of the ball. That might be because I live in Japan and the courses here are built into the sides of mountains and even hitting 20 yards off target can be an OB. Since I installed the latest upgrade I have also found that club plane numbers have changed a bit even in Awesome Golf. I am finding the it reads the club coming from outside in more than it used to. The R10 is on a stand that is level with my mat and a laser pointer for accuracy so I know that is bang on. My issue is that both the Garmin app AND Awesome Golf are showing distances 10-25yds short than what my stock shots are. I'm curious if it may be due to my net since it is simply a mesh golf net unlike the Spornia that you used which had a flat black material. Have you seen any issues with the R10 reading shots hit directly into a mesh net? Do you use the R10 to run awesome golf? I thought u were using the R10 and another launch monitor when you were comparing? I have an R10 and I have been trying to figure out how to do this, I was going to take it up to an indoor golf simulator and see if I could get a baseline of numbers, then I would know where to set it when I’m home outside hitting balls. My R10 also shows a push on most of my shits and I’m pretty certain they are not. Thank you for all the info on the R10 and all the content!!!!

      @@johnnyhershberger6294 Thanks mate, I use the 1 R10 unit for both apps and run the apps at the same time. You just have to have the Garmin Golf app open and make sure you hit from awesome golf first then it will work perfectly 😊

    Hey David, love your videos reviewing R10. I feel like I'm almost on the verge of buying one after all your videos, so thanks for the info. Quick question. I'm somewhat new to golf but keen to get more practice in and think this will be perfect. However, do you think it'll measure shanks etc. fairly accurately/ easily? Clearly, you're a good golfer so your 'side' movement is fairly minimum . I guess I want fairly accurate information on side-to-side / ball flight data so I know I'm improving. Basically, is there more error for someone fairly raw to golf? Hope this makes sense? Thanks in advance.

      @davidmaxfieldgolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Travis, Absolutely and I've hit plenty of shanks don't you worry LOL! for the most accuracy I like to have at least 8 foot from ball to screen/net. the more the better in that aspect as it reads the ball flight longer. and about 7 foot from the ball to the R10 unit. A few of my pro mates use the R10 and love it

      @@davidmaxfieldgolf Thanks mate, appreciate it. Good to see an Aussie creating some good golf content ;) I was definitely concerned that because it doesn't seem to read side spin all that well (in some circumstances) it may draw instead of a fade etc, or won't show a slice when I hit one bad. Not that I expect it to be perfect for an $879 device, but definitely want it to teach me some things (while having some fun).

      You’d have to adjust it as a whole. It is a limitation

    Again these videos are great. One thing i would like to hear is what is your awesome golf firmness setting for roll out beyond carry distance, the options are 1-5 for me the roll out and the area I play 4 is a more accurate assessment from what i see on the local courses. Secondly HTH I don't like the idea still of having to slide the altitude, weather, etc. settings to try and dial in each club. I mean its better but i should be able to say my elevation is 1200 ft (like where i live) and set the weather to what i see on the course and see the same results not way off results. I still like Awesome golf better, but good to see Garmin is at least giving it some attention on the shortcomings of HTH.

      @davidmaxfieldgolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it’s finicky to adjust it all the time and it’s not perfect but they’re adding some cool stuff to it. My ground firmness I think is set to medium

    You might want to look up what the word Accurate means. The fact that you have to "manipulate" the settings calls into question the accuracy of this unit. Additionally, you're trying to make the distances from the two apps identical. How do you even know your "baseline" is accurate? I'll be buying a Bushnell and be done with this whole nonsense.
