Festus to Gallows had a logical story. As Festus he was on drugs then Punk helped get him clean and then found himself & pledged his loyalty to the Straight Edged Society. Can't forget Mabel to Viscera, One of the Giddings to Mideon...there's a few more...

J. Allen Thanks. I suppose Nash and Raven would be the only exceptions to the rule but they both switched companies before undergoing their transformations.
The Rock had a pretty big transformation, going from the smiling "happy to be there" third-generation face that everyone booed because he was so uninteresting and forgettable to the arrogant shit-talker who wore designer clothes and expensive sunglasses and whose promos would instantly become catchphrases. He utterly embraced the fan hate and used it to his advantage. He did it so well that even though he was a heel, he won so many people over with his humor and charisma that they had to turn him face again. There absolutely was a story of how Bradshaw became JBL. The APA kept losing, and Bradshaw was tired of it. He stormed off the set with Farooq trying to talk some sense into him, and came back as JBL, willing to do what was necessary, for the Corporation, and himself, to be the champion.

When he was losing weight to win the cruiserweight title was more interesting than pretty much anything they was doing with Jeff. And then there was the great odd couple tag team with MVP. I am hard pressed to think of anything original with Jeff Hardy during his solo run.
No lie. I enjoyed the hell out of Stardust, I just wish WWE would have let him drop the character. He's one of the best independent wrestlers out there right now from a storytelling perspective and in-ring perspective.
I'm excited Raven was number 1. He has always been my favorite wrestler. I met him a couple years ago at a small speaking/Q&A gig he did where he shot about his career, the biz, etc. I asked him about Johnny Polo. He was 100% told to play that character. He was, at the time, a booker and producer who had his own office at Titan Towers and as a secondary job, Johnny Polo. He hated it, drank a lot and took a chance walking away so he could actually wrestle and be himself, that being Raven in ECW, later WCW, and then returning to WWF/E. Second story from that meet and greet: there was an infamous circa 1999 WCW meeting where Eric Bischoff told all wrestlers they were rebranding, and this was a 1 time opportunity to get out of your contract if you want. Raven stood up and was the only one to do so. I asked him about it, and he confirmed it, while also mentioning that Bischoff specifically pointed him out saying "Raven, if you want out, there's the door." Last note: He signed an 8x10 to me and asked who to sign it to. I said Red, he asked "why do they call you Red?" I told him the dull story. And while Raven I'm assuming is simply from the Edgar Allen Poe peom, I can't say for sure that's why he's called Raven, so Scott Levy knows why I am nicknamed Red, but I don't know why he is nicknamed Raven.
When I saw the pic of Conor McGreggor I thought he was going to say something like "if he came out and told us he wants to fight a bus at the next UFC event no one would ever believe that, oh wait."
Before even watching this- Bo Dallas better be on this. When he grew facial hair, he started looking badass! And completely different, i didn't even recognize him
Shawn Michaels himself recruited Nash when he saw him as Vinny Vegas on WCW and thought, "This guy would make an excellent bodyguard for me. He's big and badass, but he's also hilarious and seems like a cool dude." He brought his idea to Vince, who liked it. WCW didn't have Nash locked down, so WWE picked him up.
