They have done this b4, i was wondering where it went. This WILL be my next purchase. Being able to clean fans this easily was always something most gamers are interested in
I wonder if this design was originally planned for RDNA 4, but after AMD said they wouldnt do high end they've brought it to these models? Its a shame but these models are so cool. I love XFX
Amd may say they won’t make a high end gpu but I think they will. I could be wrong but In my mind they would be foolish to not make a flagship. Intels new battlemage will have a flagship, nvidia will have their 5090, AMD will have a flagship.
This has been done before IIRC, but that card is gorgeous. Glad XFX changed their style I was getting tired of the same thing they've had for 3 generations now.
Magnets have always been a core part of Motors in general, so it's surprising but also concerning that we haven't seen something like this sooner; Unless it HAS been done before and there were problems that XFX is hoping won't come up! I am hopeful that this will change the cooling scene for the better. But I am also skeptical considering the key feature of how Magnets and Copper have been at the core of Power Generation and Motors since it's inception!
At the beginning I thought that was only the fan to be removed, and I was asking myself "why contacts at the base?" - then I realized the whole fan/motor assembly is removed. Well XfX did the same thing some time ago, altough the system wasn't magnetic but mechanical.
Have you been hands on with recency of the magnetic air cards and their “standard” SKUs?. I love the idea and I’m wondering if I could swap the shroud/fans from my xfx non-magnetic card and just put on the magnetic shroud. Any idea if it’s the exact same card/cooler as their other versions or have they made a brand new cooler size/shape that a simple shroud swap wouldn’t work? I highly doubt anyone is going to buy this card and then water cool it making the fans/shroud for sale, but one can hope(if it’s even compatible)
Not gonna lie this is the best idea ever. Legit, it will reduce noise and allow fans to be smoother to. We need all manufacturers to do this. Also xfx in general hasnt been the best perfoming gpu this year compared to the others and thesw fans wont change that. Edit: nvm all luck of the draw seem some amazing xfx units from my research. Just rough silicon on this one. Tbh the temps and fans made up for it in 4k when the fpu really gets toasty it made it keep up with the others. Def late year bad binning I mean the leftovers probably wont be the absolute best lol. But its a few percent most buying wont x Care.
@nitroxide17 nice that's good yeah I think it's just it's the end of the generation and sometimes you can get not as good of silicon. Usually they save the best for the bedt models when they release them but the xtx has been out for a while now so idk. All luck of the draw. Updated my comment lol.
Hi, what do you think about this build (700€) Hyper x Savage 16gb 3000mhz Amd ryzen 5600X Red dragon 6800xt 2tb SSD 970 EVO plus B450a pro max Corsair rm850x
the 7900xtx black oc edition from xfx is amongst the best due to bios switch for higher wattage, in addition you can use certain mobo's like the asrock one if you want to go crazy and do a 500watt xtx build. So I think xfx has been a decent choice typically for awhile, but the silicon lottery will always exist.
they re not overclocked, it s just that the merc edition has more clock out of the box. merc edition: game clock 2254 MHz boost clock 2565 MHz magnetic edition: game clock 2124 MHz boost clock 2430 MHz
Considered this card, but ultimately went with the Merc Black edition XTX. I think the magnetic fans are a great idea, but I was too unsure of them in the long term.
I watched all the reviews on the new XTX here's a TL;DR: Pros; -Magnetic fans means it's easy to take them out to clean or replace them. Pretty smart and should be the way things are going forward with premium cards. -PTM 7950 means hotspot temps and delta should be in check, no need to worry about pumpout issues. -Decent price compared to Sapphire. Cons; -Fans are rather loud and inefficient. -Dissapointing cooing performance considering the large vapor-chamber. The Sapphire Nitro version runs cooler while being smaller. Conclusion: This card is worth a buy if you're looking for an XTX. While the cooling performance isn't the best, it's also more than enough, and the card will last.
I wouldn’t agree that the fans are loud. Not sure on how others tested but ours were where I’d expect them to be and no louder than the rest of your system. An AMD reference card would be much louder.
@@eTeknix cap this GPU to 2000 rpm then cap the sapphire nitro + to 2000 rpm and see which one is louder... I've used Sapphire, Powercolor, ASRock and XFX, XFX was always the loudest, I think the blade design is the culprit. Not that it's that loud on stock fan speeds. Just a bit louder than the competition running at those speeds.
I would like to see a watercooled 7900 XTX from other than just PowerColor and ASRock and in white with a white PCB + a 8*3 power connection. I know the PowerColor Hellhound Spectral White has a white PCB but it only has an 8*2 like the regular Hellhound. Would be sweet. :3
Hi, I've read in some reviews that this model (RX 7900 XTX Magnetic Air) is more complicated to overclock. Do you know if this is true? Do you have any tutorials to help me overclock this card?
tough choice. I was in store with the same question but the Asus card was out of stock I so picked up the XFX Mag air and been very happy with it so far.
Hi, someone bought this XFX RX 7800 quicksilver magnetic graphic card? There is a good price for it and im thinking about to buy it. Someone can help me ?
I found a few online stores in my country that has a good handful or 2 in stock for the 7800xt, but the 7900xt gre black or white version is no where to be found.
Idea and execution good when compared to the power color red devil and sapphire nitro plus 7900xtx cards, at least they're actually using PTM7950! I think somebody @ xfx watches Linus Tech Tips!
These cards with the magnetic fans seem Power limited, my 7900XTX XFX Merc 310 does 390watts and hits higher clock speeds and gets higher FPS than what your showing (80-100 FPS at 4k with full RT).
I agree, I think this guy was way off on this he said the 7800 is was just about just as good lmao there is no way in hell. My 6800 will lap that 7800 right now.
Rather have regular fans tbh 12cm fitting that way doesn't matter if they stop working- all this fad with custom fans that are removable are a gimmick. Plus power consumption is nuts on new card, 300W+ wtf
Strange. This F1 gameplays shows that on 7800XT it is barely playable - massife slow downs during taking corners. AMD drivers or what? To high settings?
magnetic air fan models of these amd cards literally are under msrp, the 7900 xtx can be found for 919 on best buy and 949 on newegg, comparable to sapphires pulse models with no magnetic fans
Nice gimmick but I'd prefer a shroud with standard 90 or 120mm fan holes and standard 4 pin PWM headers. Imagine just being able to swap in an arctic, noctua or other fan of your choosing
Such a nice idea! We can easily clean the fans without disassembling the entire GPU.
Yeah and it's going to be like 50$ more than other models so I prefer spending 5 min disassembling the card than spending 50$ more 😂
Yes please make this a standard for al l makes and.models

nah , this design was for china only
How is AMD not releasing ultra high end cards affecting GPU cooler design 😂
It was a China-only thing

I kinda want XFX to go all in on a full lineup of these cards in the future. Wonder how that would turn out for lower end cards too.
This has been done before IIRC, but that card is gorgeous. Glad XFX changed their style I was getting tired of the same thing they've had for 3 generations now.
Sapphire did similar but not magnetic so I didn’t think it was worth mentioning tbh.
Had just spotted 7900 xtx version of this randomly on AMZ for £868 though not through a seller I have heard of.
It looks banging.

@@Bunczu i wonder what powers those fans. it has to be something that spins with electricity. hm any ideas?
@@Wi-Lu So what od the problem? XFX has magnets and they use electricity.

This card is meant to last forever. This will be my 7900 XTX. Fans die far more than GPUs!!
I just got this card for like $850. Do you think its more worth it at that price point?
The reason for the 7800 being slower is because it is working at reference speeds vs the other two cards being overclocked ?
they re not overclocked, it s just that the merc edition has more clock out of the box.
