I had the same issues as you with Plague Tale: A Requiem. And thought terrible things about the Merc 310 7900 XTX, moving from Nvidia (and enjoying that game before I switched GPUs). But I figured out what the issue was! And hope that this helps you and others with the same issue. The problem was that the game reads a text file called ENGINESETTINGS in Documents/My Games/A Plague Tale Requiem folder. This text file does NOT get uninstalled when you reinstall from GamePass or Steam, but it was first created when you still had your Nvidia card. All you have to do is delete that file. And the game should launch just fine. That file still contains information about your old Nvidia card and has to be rewritten by the game to now account for the AMD card. Hope that works and good luck! I got over 100 FPS avg, at 4K Ultra settings with Ray tracing on - not OC’ed.
Yooooo.... that's awesome! Thank you so much! That totally makes sense! I'll look into that tonight! Really, really appreciate the reach out on that!!! And of course, thank you for watching!
@@GamersGuard Yes - it resolved the issue! Sorry, meant to circle back around on this after testing it but yup! Thank you again for the pointer @An Amancy Son
@@zivnixwon't help saved game settings, and there are a small amount of other games with similar problems. It's not a big problem, but it happens. Intel Arc is worse because games think you are running off an iGPU / APU and actually block the card. There's a much larger problem rate there.
I've had may Merc 310 7900 XTX for a few weeks now with my 5800X3D, and I do absolutely love it! Especially getting it at near reference price for $1030, and coming from a 1070Ti. True beast at 4K! I know you're showing stock numbers, but OC'd my numbers are sooo much higher! My FireStrike Ultra GPU score is 23,439, TimeSpy Extreme at 17,115, and Port Royal at 18,474. Now, I do have my system plumbed to be probably one of the best air cooled system out there, and on the leaderboards with custom loop liquid cooled people with EDC modded 7900 XTX's, which I plan to do soon, so don't think mine is completely stock to achieve those scores. lol I also did swap the fans out in less that 24 hours with some Lian LI Uni fans I had lying around, as I honestly think this card is pretty loud for my taste. I did loose some slight cooling performance, but feel I made up for it in freeing up the GPU TBP, as all of my best scores were with the swapped fans not being run off the GPU.
I just purchased the MSI 7900xtx on prime days. New build with a 7700x, Msi Mag B650 Tomahawk motherboard, 32GB DDR5 6400 CL32. Looking forward to getting it all setup and ready for Starfield. I'm glad you had a good experience testing the card, great review!
I saw that sale! Glad you scooped one up! Did you get it all built and running, yet? How's the performance! Thank you so much for watching & commenting! Sorry about the delayed response!
Made sure to get a 1500VA / 900w UPS for my 1000w PSU because of what you described early on lol. Gets close to ~800w gaming power draw. Personally seen 550w+ reported spikes from HWinfo, insanity. Only managed to get 1110mv undervolt , 1100 crashes in Darktide with RTX on despite being fine in Cyberpunk and Total War. Loving the card so far, great guide!
Outstanding! So sorry I hadn't posted back on this yet. Was a busy season at work followed by some much needed family time. I'm getting back into things now. How's it running for you after a few months? Mine has been running a dream! Wrapped up Plague Tale, dove into Firmament and its been gorgeous and smooth. Haven't had any crazy breaker trips and got a new UPS that can handle the load! Lol
@NalaLin In regard to power draw? Yes, but to a lesser extent. Really depends on the chip 5950x peak draw is around 125 watts, whereas the 10900k uses closer to 190. Pcpartpicker is a great resource for ballparking overall power draw for a configuration or build. Hope that helps and thank you so much for watching!
Thank you so much for watching!!! I'm so excited for you - new builds are so much fun! Nervous and painstaking at times but still fun! I've got my fingers crossed it all comes together smoothly for you!
I've just Bought this card along with the Taichi 870e. I got the card for £750. I'm coming from a Mac that had 5700xt so really looking forward to my first pc build.
@IndigoSun-hz6cq outstanding! You'll have to let me know how it goes. This card in particular is just such a strong price performer! I've tried 3 other models of the 7900 XTX and the Speedster is still my favorite! Thank you so much for watching!
Great video I currently just upgraded to a 7800x3d from a 5600x plus had a 2080 which has gave me so so so many fan issues. But planning on buying this xtx an so excited for it. Thanks for the video. I got told I only needed a 750 psu I felt 1000w would be safe 😅
Well, I sold my 3070 for $800 and ordered the XFX 7900 XTX for $1029 at Amazon. Of course, bringing this card to my country (taxes + customs tariffs) my final price was $1709. The thing is I can deduct some taxes ($315) so I'll pay about $600 to get this card. Hope it's worth it. But my 3070 with only 8gb of vram wasn't up to the job using an UW monitor.
The reason why undervolting is inversely correlated with frequency is because increasing frequency in Wattman increases core voltage as well. So basically if you have lower frequency + bigger undervolt you get what equates to a severe undervolt. That's why technically if you want to just "undervolt" the GPU the best way to do that is to limit the maximum frequency and leave voltage untouched.
That's a really great synopsis! Definitely well put and for sure makes sense! Thanks so much for your insights, there! Are you currently using an AMD GPU?
@@haitok Yeah I'm using a 6950 XT and I saw a buildzoid video where he demonstrated that exact effect with an oscilloscope on RDNA 2 but I'm pretty sure it is exactly the same on RDNA 3.
I will have to make a PC around RX 7900XT. The XTX is sitting on absurdly high prices in my country. Would be great to watch the RX 7900XT and A770 on your channel.
Great video man, very informative. My only suggestions would be that you should have some footage product you are reviewing and some gameplay captures with an FPS counter would go a long way. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for the input there! I'm actually just wrapping up my arc a770 review and my wife actually made that same suggestion. I've got another GPU review already started so I'll make sure to include it in that one! Thank you for watching and reaching out! Genuinely appreciate it!!!
Awesome! I'm so pumped that's been your experience, as well! I'm running it on a super conservative OC now and it's been a dream - crazy cool and crushes everything at 4k I put in its way! I will definitely keep you up next week! I do have some questions in meantime, if you are doing VR, how is it now? I heard latest drivers should fix a lot of the VR and apparently reduce idle power? I'm looking into buying a Merc 310 7900xtx for around 650 USD. The seller says the card is new, sealed but he cannot give me any kind of warranty. I can test the card before buying it. How reliable are these MERC 310 cards? Any issues?
@AndreiMorar Hey, I had absolutely NO issues with mine in terms of hardware reliability! I also had a XFX Speedster 6900 xt a few years back and had no issues with it either. On the warranty front - might be worth it to ask thr seller to provide the OG invoice when HE bought it so if you need to register the product with XFX, you can at least try. A lot of 3rd party reseller sites have extended warranties you can pay for as well - ebay, mercari, etc.. 650 for brand new is awesome, but yeah I definitely understand your caution.
Nice video, it was really informative. I have the exact same setup as you as well, a Ryzen 9 5950x and an EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 and I also so happened to be looking at the XFX MERC 310 7900 XTX as a replacement. I am really on the fence about this upgrade, I will be selling the 3080 Ti if I get the 7900 XTX though, so somewhat offsets the price of buying the 7900 XTX a bit. I think with my current CPU and GPU (be it the 3080 Ti or 7900 XTX) I won't be building a new PC until Nvidia's 5000 series or AMD's 8000 series of graphics cards come out. So would either keeping my 3080 Ti or upgrading to the 7900 XTX tie me over till then (I game at 3440 x 1440 - 144hz)?
I'm looking at a few 7900 XTX models and this one caught my eyes, planning on pairing it with the 7 5800x3d. The only thing I'm slightly worrying about is the maximum power draw, I have the Corsair RM750x PSU and I don't want to buy a new PSU because it would be a hard time convincing my parents to allow me to buy it for my birthday with it already costing 1080€ in Europe. I've looked at many videos and I believe a 750w PSU is just about enough, I don't see it getting anywhere near the limit but what do you think?
That IS a tough one. I suppose if you kept the power limit at +/- 0 and didn't really overclock, you could be okay. It's RIGHT up against there and truthfully you might entertain the idea of going reference so you KNOW you're only pulling from those 2 PCIE power cables or the PowerColor Hellhound (which now comes in white) also only using the 2 8-pins, same as the Gigabyte Gaming edition. Please understand I'm not trying to talk you out of this card because I do LOVE it, I just want to make sure you go with one that's going to work within your power limits. You can tune this card to most likely fit your limits, but the potential would always be there to draw more than you've got. Regardless, I'm so pumped that you're planning on going for an XTX! You'll have to let me know which you get and how it goes! What's the first game you're going to play on it?
@@haitok thanks for the tip! I guess I will see in about 2 weeks to see how much money I've got then decide which model I will be buying! First game will most likely be Hogwarts Legacy because I want to finally finish it with an enjoyable experience(something that is tough to achieve on the 3070 Ti)
@Bersto36 I'm glad you asked. At the end I decided to upgrade my PSU to a 1000w PSU because I feared that it might be a problem (+ this model of the 7900 XTX draws 389w rather than 355w). However, after playing for around 2 and a half weeks I have been observing the total power draw and it's safe to say you only really need a 850w PSU. A 750w PSU would probably be enough but you know that would come with a risk. So, if I were you I would stretch the budget and buy a 850w PSU to be fully safe.
Thanks for this "TNTR" I just bought this card I get it tomorrow. Also I don't read of "spikes". I would think maybe the like someone else said the over clocking was not done correctly. Should not have spikes like that.
Thank you so much for watching!! I'm so excited to hear that you also got this card! You'll have to let me know how it runs when you get it! Yeah, since I decreased my max frequency to 2700mhz, I haven't experienced any spikes like I had during my benchmarking. It is entirely possible I was simply pushing the card too hard at 2900 mhz, which is why I saw such high consumption. Can't wait to hear about your shiny new XFX XTX! Have a great day!
@@haitok Hey well got it and I don't over clock. When you and everyone else says the fan speeds out of the box are way to high. I got mine at 50% I have good air flow and the junc only hits maybe 74. But happy? YEAH! haha
@@marywow9659 Yeah!!! OMG, I'm so happy to hear it! So glad that it's performing well for you, right out of the box! It's a great card and honestly, once I scaled back the OC on it, to something more reasonable, I sacrificed a couple frames for MUCH better power consumption! I think this is going to be my GPU for the foreseeable future - at least til the next gen drops! lol TY again for watching and chatting - It's a genuine pleasure meeting you!
Thanks for the video. I am confused when you went to performance tuning, you said "if all you're going to do is raise the power limit then you shouldn't overclock due to the power spikes", was that worded incorrectly and you meant don't simply raise power limit? Surely the default clocks would keep this in check? I'm still struggling with Assetto Corsa Competizione crashing on me occasionally, I wonder if my settings in tuning are why... I had no min frequency with max at 2950 with 1130v... I don't really understand the point of min frequency but is it for stability? Now testing your 2200 / 2700 / 1140v... however before I was seeing the game use 2800mhz so would 2300/2800/1140 be okay/better? Also confused why you don't use the fan curve, I have quite an open case and 40% fan is plenty enough noise for me, but when it is tested I allow it to reach 60% which cools back down, 60% just seems over the top until your JT is in the 70s. I have 30% until 60c, 40% until 70c then up to 60% at 80c and max above that. I do agree this card is a champ at cooling, 1000% better than MBA design. Thanks for taking the time to post the video.
Spectacular input - TYSM for commenting on that. I do use a fan curve, but for the sake of simplicity (I polled my wife and she said to keep it simpler) Maybe I ought to do a full fan curve video. But, yes - it's a truly awesome cooler. I'm perpetually impressed by how cool & quiet this thing runs! I'll double-check into the Power Limit Only portion - It was DEFINITELY worded poorly and I looked into my notes when I very started benching and data collecting on this card, I remember not seeing any performance gain but the card drawing a lot more power overall. Spikes was probably the wrong word to use. I did find it odd that it seemed fairly linear in it's use (Power usage scaled as I freed it up w/little to no performance gain) It MIGHT have been just in a dual monitor setup that I saw this and if that's the case, I'll need to put a pinned comment specifying this - TYSM for bringing it up! And yes, it's been my experiencing in setting a min freq that I see increased stability. I actually need to research the "why" more. But, yeah, it's funny that you should mention that: 2300/2800 @1140 mv might be the ticket - I'll have to run some tests as well. I just found at the 22/27, it was CRAZY cool and quiet. Thank you again, so much for watching and commenting. Love reading your input and experience w/the card.
@@haitok just done a test and found that the difference between max frequency at 2700mhz and 2900mhz was about 2 fps in ACC so it was a great spot by you that max frequency doesn't scale as much as you'd expect (maybe in some games), saves quite a bit of power / heat so that's great. I'll try running 2300 min, 2700 max and 1140v and see if that helps with stability in ACC. Thanks

So sad I bought one yesterday and booted it up. Now i have these crazy pixel flickering issues and screen tearing. Considering getting a replacement bit i feel like i should cut my loses and go nvidia.
So sorry to hear that! Is this in a fresh build or did you replace another GPU? I haven't personally experienced that, but I think I may have heard something about it on some of the older driver builds. What driver version are you running?
XFX has a history of poor quality control on their XTX cards. Good cooler, bad card. This is not on AMD. If you bought Sapphire or any other top tier manufacturer, you would not be having problems. This is no different from the Asus quality control problems. You could have just as EASILY bought a bad Nvidia card. This is why you research problems before buying and read user reviews over professional reviewers who test a sample of ONE.
Hey! It's actually not something I've encountered with my card. Had some increased steady-state power draw and higher clocks when in a mm configuration but I did see a reddit post a few months back on it - maybe it'll help? 7900 XTX VRAM not downclocking : r/Amd - Reddit www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/zp2hla/7900_xtx_vram_not_downclocking/ You on current drivers? 23.7.1? @@haitok yes i read this but doesnt make any sense to me. why would i need a 3rd party program to get my memory clock speeds down. This is my first amd card in over 15 years so im kinda lost with the tuning process. I game at 1440p so i dont need or wish to overclock card . getting 5-10 fps more wont make a big diff . thanks for your input
I can, this is usually a monitor problem that everyone keeps quiet about. Dual monitors and certain high refresh settings can lock memory at full speed. There are work arounds, but you have to investigate your specific hardware for the fix. Many people use custom resolution utility. Both AMD and Nvidia do this and there is no "just works" option. That's a myth, PC gaming is full of issues, you learn to fix them or buy a console. If you can't fix the monitor, you can use an overclock utility to forcibly down clock at the desktop, and forcibly enable for games. AMD regularly releases driver updates that fix it, the problem is there are too many monitors and it's not a one patch fix.
Hey! Yup, I did and then ran revo Uninstaller for the additional NVIDIA software to be extra sure! SOP for me! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! What gpu are you running?

No problem at all - I'm not sure if I said or not, but I used the secondary (oc) BIOS! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Hope you're having an amazing weekend!
I personally haven't since I downgraded my OC to max out at 2700mhz, but no I didn't have any issues with power draw running at stock when I very first got the card. That said - XFX recommends an 850 PSU and mileage will vary between individual cards, though I have a hard time believing that the power draw would vary too extremely. Thanks so much for watching!!! Hope you're having an awesome Wednesday!
First off, enjoyed your presentation. However, I don't know a single serious gamer playing in 4K, to each their own. I run a dual monitor setup at 1440p, 144hz, games look awesome and play great. Did some reading on these cards, 7900 series that is, and the power supply you chose is important, which would have been nice is we knew what you are using. 850watts should be enough for most gamers, I'd say 1000 watt would be the sweet spot, above that, money wasted, just my opinion. And personally, don't give a rat's ass about ray tracing. When in an intense fps battle or racing with the pedal to the metal, I don't have time to admire a slightly better shadow or reflection. And as a consumer, all I want is a decent product at a fair price, so AMD is where that sits right now. I have three desktops, I laptop, and between those I run both Nvidia and AMD, I have no loyalty to either. Been gaming online since 1998, and I too live in the great white north, central Alberta where it is finally beginning to warm up.
Thanks so much for watching and appreciate your input! Yeah, I only very recently moved up into 4k - totally agree that 1440p is still a big sweet spot for PC gaming! Totally forgot to include my system specs in the video but posted them in a pinned comment - will definitely remember the next time I do a hardware review! Current PSU is EVGA G6 1000W gold. Been a great performer and love the warranty support from them. RT is hit or miss for me, looks nice but never been essential. And stay warm for sure! We just got snow again two days ago! Thanks again for watching and reaching out! What games do you typically play?
@@nalalin8835 To be safe, add up your CPU, GPU and other peripherals to see what your max draw would be. Power draw is not a constant, it will go up an down depending on on current draw at that instant. Sorry I can't provide a simpler answer.
Guys just don't overworked your Radeon 7000 XT and XTX on ray tracing on native at 4K, wait for FSR 3 and Use Fluid Motion Frame + HYPER RX to let those AI Accelerators help your GPU on RAY TRACING, then you can run whatever settings your game has to offer.
That's a solid GPU - one of the best of its era!!! Fingers crossed it keeps doing all it needs to for you til those 8000 series cards drop! 😆 Thank you so much for watching!
I concur with @dorucreo - GPU pull. Haven't seen spikes or even that elevated a draw since moderating my overclock lower. Thank you for watching, both of you! Hope you're having an awesome day!
Really depends on the kind of games you play and what you want from your GPU. Raw frames at 1440p raster, the 7900 xtx is the better GPU in my opinion, but if RT is important and you don't mind leveraging DLSS, it's basically a wash! Probably not worth the "upgrade". Thanks for watching and sorry I hadn't gotten back to you sooner! Hope you're having an awesome week!
Wait for the Radeon next Gen, improves raytracing, increases power efficiency, lower costs. They're not going for super high end next Gen, but mid range at lower cost with performance in line with last Gen high end.
I totally get it. Recent driver updates have done a lot to assuage power usage issues. I'm currently using an arc a770 for its review. I'm excited to re-test a 7900 xtx to see if it's still doing experiencing those spikes. Will keep yall posted! Thank you again for watching and commenting! Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Junction temps in Cyberpunk 1440p ultra with non psycho Raytracing can easily can hit 90 - 93c in my Hyte y60 case.. This is at a draw of 443 watts. I never seen it go over 94c tho no matter how hard I slammed it. Overclocking it is absolutely pointless.. unless your trying for a one-off top 10 score in Port Royale or Timespy.. you can undervolt and overclock boosting in MSI Afterburner (FORGET about overclocking in the Adrenaline.. its 100% FAIL for OC) If you have very fast ram 7200mt/s and a i9 13900k.. you can get to top 10 scores sure.. I did it.. I got 6th in the world in Port Royale with my i9 13900k.sure.. 100mv Undervolt, 13% Power limit increase.. even got top 3 once.. it was short lived... but was that oc stable for everyday gaming???.. not a chance.. IT WILL NEVER BE just put the card on rage mode and your fine for everyday gaming... dont think you will ever oc this card for a daily driver.. that is silly. Asus Prime-a Wifi, Triden Z5 7200mhz Ram, 13900k with Intel XTU (Intel Extreme tuning software) "optimized" 1 click overclock settings.
I wanted a 7900 xtx everything I read says AMD GPU's are trash in VR, like in VRChat for instance. I got a good deal on a 4080, and while I'm happy with it(it's so gd efficient), I'd gladly trade it for an XTX if I could be convinced it would be as good in VR. Paired with a gold sample 5800x and 32gb of b-die rn.
This was SPECIFICALLY a problem with the 7000 launch drivers. It has been fixed for a while. Good to see you've done zero research investigating rumors though, typical Nvidia user.
Your issues with that game are exactly why AMD products are banned in my builds, you simply don't get that sort of nonsense with Intel/Nvidia pairings. I wish AMD would sort these annoying niggles out, because some of their kit is very good, I'm not one of these that deny that AMD are capable of producing competitive products. I would love to have more choice. 👍🏻
Yeah, I noticed that too during the summary portion of the review. I think it's simply because for that portion I ended up looking at the display window and not the lens of my G7. I'll be more mindful of it my newer recordings - Was my first time recording with that camera, so got some bad habits to train out. Thanks for noticing and bringing it up! Hope you have a really great Thursday!
I just X-scribed. XFXRX79XTX -s Do the Arc A770 16GB ec[erience video! Intel Arc and AMD 7000 all started normalizing the prices. Nvidia massive drop - $40 bucks on their cheapest model made me laugh. From its absurd $600! This man is delusional. 2023 - AMD sells twice as many GPUs as Nvidia.
Thank you so much! So sorry about the delayed response on this! Genuinely appreciate it! I'm actually just wrapping up my A770 review! Will let ya know as soon as I get it uploaded! Thank you again! How's your summer shaping up?

Now, I do have my system plumbed to be probably one of the best air cooled system out there, and on the leaderboards with custom loop liquid cooled people with EDC modded 7900 XTX's, which I plan to do soon, so don't think mine is completely stock to achieve those scores. lol
I also did swap the fans out in less that 24 hours with some Lian LI Uni fans I had lying around, as I honestly think this card is pretty loud for my taste.

What is a UPS?
@@OleNesie an uninterruptible power supply. Provides temporary power in the event of an outage or brown out.

But my 3070 with only 8gb of vram wasn't up to the job using an UW monitor.
from $1030 to $1709 ? damn.. this is nearly $700 more
Which crazy country charge around 65% TAX ?
The reason why undervolting is inversely correlated with frequency is because increasing frequency in Wattman increases core voltage as well. So basically if you have lower frequency + bigger undervolt you get what equates to a severe undervolt. That's why technically if you want to just "undervolt" the GPU the best way to do that is to limit the maximum frequency and leave voltage untouched.
That's a really great synopsis! Definitely well put and for sure makes sense! Thanks so much for your insights, there! Are you currently using an AMD GPU?

@@gaylortaylor1512how did it go with the psu? I have a 750w psu and am wondering if I should upgrade that as well
@Bersto36 I'm glad you asked.
I own the merc 310 as well and it says 850w minimum for the power supply just to let you know.
Thanks

1% low in this far cry case seems to be vram capacity, most likely. Can easyly be caused by sone no cer, well optimized texture :) great detailed video speedster model is kinda awesome :-)
Oh, wow - Really? That's interesting... Cool - thanks so much for letting me know on that! I was actually still scratching my head on that. Was so odd. Seriously, thank you so much for watching and commenting! And, yeah - it's been a really great card, so far. Now that I'm running a much more moderate overclock, frames are great, stable and I've not had my battery back up whine at me all week! lol
It's not vram on AMD, more likely bad game optimization. The Nvidia card however is dealing with both issues as it does run out.
Hi I'm building my first PC and I can't choose between this card or the 4080 but I thin I'll go with the RX 7900 xtx. Is that card good? Planning to get that same model.
Yeah, it's a GREAT model and if you're lucky you can actually pick it up below MSRP. It's actually at 979 at Newegg right now. Great deal!!! And yeah, I love it! Drivers have matured really well so far. Haven't found anything at 4k I've not been able to crush so far! Lmk what you go with!
good review 😎
Thank you so much! I've got a lot to learn as I head into this particular realm of youtube but I had a crazy good time testing, recording and editing! Really appreciate you watching and commenting! Means quite a lot to me! Thank you again and hope all is well your way!!!
Oh, and I realized that nowhere in the video did I mention my overall system specs: So sorry about that:

Thank you guys again, so much for watching and sharing! Having an absolute blast talking shop w/y'all!
*Also - apologies for the somewhat frequent awkward pauses between words and sentences. I'm REALLY trying to weed out filler words like "uhm" & "uh" so I'm forcing myself to be comfortable w/silence between thoughts while speaking and it's still a work in progress!
LOL i’m a year late and just now upgrading my 3060 to this, so it should be a huge upgrade
Nice!!! Most definitely should be a big one! Congratulations! What's the first game you're going to crush on it?
will this card fit in a ATX board or do i need a EATX ?? because its huge 14 inchs long
If your motherboard has a pciex16 slot it will fit on the board. Its long though, so make sure your case can fit
I just got this card and have it paired with a 5800x on an 850w psu. No issues so far, but I do get some stuttering now and then. New to the OC game. Might just run it at stock, see how it goes.
Mostly push it with sim racing. F1 22, ACC, iRacing, but also CP 2077. Came from a 5700xt and LOVING it, so far!
Nice review of the card, hadn't seen many out there, you got my sub 😊
Yeah, I had some stuttering when I had my OC too high when I was first configuring things! Also saw some when I undervolted too low. You'll have to let me know when you get to the bottom of it! I'm running at a super conservative Oc right now and it's smooth as silk! Thank you so much for watching and reaching out! I really need to give CP 2077 another go! Maybe I will after HWL and Returnal!
@haitok I pulled back the vram OC, and had undervolt at 30mv below yours, so I basically matched your settings. Also have SAM enabled. Have done any heavy benchmark modes in any games, but didn't see stuttering before when I ran benchmarks. Only in game and after a while at that. So far, so good! Will let you know after a few hours of continuous workouts.
@@haitok I have been getting some driver timeout errors in Iracing. Even without any OC settings on. Have just one monitor, the Samsung Neo G7. Am wondering what's going on. On latest adreniline. Any direction you can point me to for troubleshooting guide?
I have a 4080 with a gold sample 5800x. And I sim race too (ACC, AMS2 etc, triples and VR). I want a 5800x3d so bad but man, with having a 5800x already, it's so hard to justify. But in SimRacing and VR, the X3D chips kick serious ass.
@@brianjones6465 Do it. I just did the 5800X to 5800X3D and sold the old cpu. Do it now before the value of the 5800X drops more!
This is why you research problems before buying and read user reviews over professional reviewers who test a sample of ONE.
just bought this card and i cant find anywhere any info on why the memory NEVER downclocks? can you shed some light on this ?
Hey! It's actually not something I've encountered with my card. Had some increased steady-state power draw and higher clocks when in a mm configuration but I did see a reddit post a few months back on it - maybe it'll help?
7900 XTX VRAM not downclocking : r/Amd - Reddit www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/zp2hla/7900_xtx_vram_not_downclocking/
You on current drivers? 23.7.1? I can look into this further and I'll let you know what I find!
DId you DDU the old drivers From your 3080?
Hey! Yup, I did and then ran revo Uninstaller for the additional NVIDIA software to be extra sure! SOP for me! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! What gpu are you running?
@@haitok I'm on the 3070 right now. I'm trying to decide on the 7900xtx or the RTX 4080. I can't make up my mind.
You didn't win the silicon lottery 😉 My 7900xtx works daily with 3200mhz@1091v in benchmarks it runs 3300mhz@1045v
Nice!!! I'm a little jel, but so stoked it's working out great for you! Which board partner and model are you running? Thanks so much for watching!!! Hope your day is going great!
@@haitok sapphire nitro+
@Tomasz Kaczor Nice! I've read really good things about that card and Sappire is awesome - One of the best AMD BP out there!
Sorry if i missed it, but which BIOS did you use?
No problem at all - I'm not sure if I said or not, but I used the secondary (oc) BIOS! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Hope you're having an amazing weekend!
@@haitok Thnx for responding. Did you also disable Multi-Plane Overlay (MPO)?
so you won't have a problem with power if you don't OC?
Is power draw at 1440 less than 4K? If so, can I get away with a 750W PSU if I don't go into 4K territory?
@@nalalin8835 To be safe, add up your CPU, GPU and other peripherals to see what your max draw would be. Power draw is not a constant, it will go up an down depending on on current draw at that instant. Sorry I can't provide a simpler answer.
Did u have the power button on?
On the board
Guys just don't overworked your Radeon 7000 XT and XTX on ray tracing on native at 4K, wait for FSR 3 and Use Fluid Motion Frame + HYPER RX to let those AI Accelerators help your GPU on RAY TRACING, then you can run whatever settings your game has to offer.
I wish but I'm going to hold off till rx8000 maybe beyond lol come on r9-390x just little longer 😂
That's a solid GPU - one of the best of its era!!! Fingers crossed it keeps doing all it needs to for you til those 8000 series cards drop! 😆 Thank you so much for watching!
Is power draw the total system power or just GPU power draw?
gpu
I concur with @dorucreo - GPU pull. Haven't seen spikes or even that elevated a draw since moderating my overclock lower. Thank you for watching, both of you! Hope you're having an awesome day!
Should I sell my 4070 Ti and get 7900 XTX? I play at 1440p 240Hz.
No
Really depends on the kind of games you play and what you want from your GPU.
They're not going for super high end next Gen, but mid range at lower cost with performance in line with last Gen high end.
just lower the in-game settings and there is room for a normal rx 570 8gb xxx edition no need for monster expensive GPU-s
The power spikes are just too high for me, quite apart from the price.
Bro had a heater running, and complains about power spikes lmao
I own it if anyone has any questions let me know
Junction temps in Cyberpunk 1440p ultra with non psycho Raytracing can easily can hit 90 - 93c in my Hyte y60 case..

I believe this is gotta be a driver issue. Let's see what happens with the coming updates.
This was SPECIFICALLY a problem with the 7000 launch drivers. It has been fixed for a while. Good to see you've done zero research investigating rumors though, typical Nvidia user.
If i can play Star citizen, dayz and world of warship and not giving my money to nvidia..then i take it...advice? Thx .:)
For some reason it looks like you are weirdly looking at a wrong eyeline.

Yeah, I noticed that too during the summary portion of the review. I think it's simply because for that portion I ended up looking at the display window and not the lens of my G7. Intel Arc and AMD 7000 all started normalizing the prices.
Nvidia massive drop - $40 bucks on their cheapest model made me laugh. From its absurd $600! This man is delusional. 2023 - AMD sells twice as many GPUs as Nvidia.
