I just realised how slow I am. I don't read music yet but am ready to take that in as I now understand music thory to a good level. This video is the pefect eye opener for somebody in my position. I will never look at note or chords in the same way as I used to. Now I can see the chord type and the note relationship. You are more magical than you were 10 minutes ago. I am forever grateful.

This is amazing. I've seen a lot of guitar lessons on youtube, including theory lessons, but none has ever highlighted how to recognise intervals on the Staff. Huzzaaahhhhh & TY!
I played cello for 4 yrs in primary school, aged 8-12, and i wasn't taught much music theory, but, i did know how to read music, and played a couple of years in an orchestra put together with students from a bunch of local schools. And i was pretty good, i remember being able to read sheet music nice and fluently. Then i lost interest in cello, because i caught the electric guitar bug, but it didn't seem feasible to switch to guitar at that time, so i gave up cello, and did nothing.
Cut forward nearly 30 years, and i finally gets me a geetar, and try to learn, but of course i've totally forgotten how to read sheet music.
I used to be able to just look at the music and know exactly where the tune was going, immediately, at a glance. and i haven't been able to figure out how i used to be able to do that, until now.
So anyway, i think recognising those intervals on the staff is the missing link that'll help me start to get my reading speed up .
    Many TY!!

@Gracie Terzian. I’m still enthusiastically enjoying your tutorial videos way into the early hours.
I think I’ve watched enough to justifiably consider you the “Bob Ross of Music theory.” Your presence is soothing and your voice level promotes calm. Just like Bob used a canvas you face a whiteboard of some type. He made regular and relaxing sounds like the quiet thumping of canvas with his brush. You often quietly tap the white board with your marker and/or eraser. I know it sounds silly, but I couldn’t help sharing this impression with you.
