I wouldn't say easier but it's a faster game and power counts for more. These guys make it look easier but every shot they're hitting is a masterclass in tactical awareness of angles that your average club player dreams of.
It is what it is. People who don't know the game shouldn't try to talk about pros. These guys are better then i could ever hope to be and I've trained at the olyimpic training center under KANES COACH, along with played 4x a week for 4 years. And these guys are gonna come on here and bash kane for bouncing it too many times? have some respect for pure talent
Sad to see how Jose and the rest of the 205 never had good pro careers and were pushed out of the sport due to lack of opportunity. There was a time when Jose and his brother were the next big thing and now both are in retirement before the end of their primes. Racquetball should have done all it could to help young players like those guys from the 205 but mis-management and lack of vision from the top lead to many many top pros leaving the sport in their athletic primes.
at 4:50, the ref was right in the call, it wasnt a hindrance, jose choose wrong, and kane was there ... it only looks like a hindrance because of jose's mistake
@PupeDocta Its a delay tactic to slow down the game to your speed (or speed it up) 1 bounce means you wanna keep tempo, and more than that means they wanna make sure its their speed. pros just bounce it many times to always make sure they know what they are gonna do. Don't be a noobie and comment on Pros videos.
@Fernandez218 I'm watching it, and it looks like Rojas just isn't waiting on Kane's serve. He's hitting it before it comes off the side wall. Look at 2:09. It looks like he's not letting the ball fall. It's tough to tell because of the angle though. Also, rojas serves are mostly really stupid. Look at 3:11. Kane would most likely usually put that away. They shoot off the back or side wall, and if any good player waits on them they're gonna roll it out.
This is really advanced play. The pausing in between is crucial as the mental strategy is as important. As the example of the in play get by Kane refered to as a Jedi Mind Trick. Football and especially Baseball are noted for thier use ot time. They have even longer phases between plays. Thinking is just as important as hitting.
I was at Sports Authority and noticed some Racquetball equipment and I had no idea what it was and what kind of sport it was since I've never heard of a sport. Seeing proffessionals play seems fascinating, but I don't understand the concept and all. Hehe.
@KapnKrunch10 That was the back wall dumbs. It was a lob serve from kane, rojas took a cut off over head, it hit the front wall, went cross court, hit the floor, then the left wall. then the back wall and kane took it off the back wall and put it cross court to the right, stuffing rojas causing him to skip the shot leading to kanas serve again.
yeah, they dont show it because they stand there and bounce the ball off the wall umpteen times. then everyone watching says "man, hes so focused and so mentally prepared that he doesnt really show his fatigue at all!!" that sound familiar? see, the routine sucked you in already.
@KapnKrunch10 your just blind, that shot clearly was a side front by Kane, that bounced twice (rojas dove for it) and after the second bounce play stopped, and kane went back to to serve. watch more carefully
Jose needs to work on his drive serves. every one of his serves were off the back wall for Kane. i noticed that he comes up as he hits it instead of staying down on the ball
Re all these comments on Kane taking "too long" in between serves :: Per USRA rules, YOU GET TEN SECONDS TO SERVE. The pros typically use 7 to 9 seconds in between serves. Gives them a chance to think which serve to hit, etc. There's a guy I play. He loves to play fast. I use 8 to 9 secs in betw each serve. Even though, skill wise, he's probably better than me on some days, I've never lost to him in over two years. Slowing the game down is his achilles heel.
oh i respect his talent....but his pre-serve routine is a little drawn out. i think a part of the game is a little based on endurance and taking the time to catch your breath with a little hitting of the ball of the wall a bunch of times is an easy way around it
He lost to Alvero Beltran in the semi-finals of the California Open in January 2009 and to Jose Rojas in the semi-finals of the Kansas City Pro-Am, the first IRT tournament of the 2013-14 season. In between those two losses he won a record 137 matches. He hasn't lost a completed match since his loss to Jose three years ago.
Guys good enough to score points against Kane Waselenchuk..including my coach, who is a former pro. And I score points against her. I'm not breathing heavily. If you'd like, I can have you talk to two Hall of Famers, also World Renowned Coaches for racquetball-Fran Davis and Jim Winterton.
actually, he's not catching his breath. He's thinking what he wants to do, as far as serving is concerned. It's a ritual. Every pro does it. Think about it. Pros are in better shape than most amateurs are in, yet most amateurs don't do that ritual. Do you really think a pro is going to be out of breath?
actually no it doesn't! Listen to yourself. If they were tired, doing the routine means more work and focus, it's going to tire them further. They are so focused they don't show fatigue, it happens. It's happened to me before several times! I do the routine too, hit it around the side wall to the front wall to the other side wall back to me like Kane, 3 times and then I go to serve. Never am I breathing heavily, and I'm playing Open players and Elite players, who really push me past my limit.
dude I never said they never run out of breath. No need for attitude. I just said he's not catching his breath, he can go on for a lot longer than most amateurs can go. They eventually get fatigued, but that's around maybe the 4th-5th game. But they get so focused, and so mentally prepared, that they don't really show it. Don't be an idiot
you're kidding, right?? this is a joke, hahahaha...that was a good one. oh wait, youre serious. do you think pros are super human and never run out of breath?? do pros ever fatigue?? do they ALWAYS have sufficient oxygen to go on and on and on and on and on?? the answer is NO. when 2 elite athletes play against each other they will eventually start to fatigue and be out of breath. thats biology, pretty easy to see its non-disputable. well, not easy enough i guess, you thought otherwise
the harder you hit the ball the more wins you get..because it crushes the ball to make killshots..if you lift weights and bench a lot you will beat the other guy everytime because you hit harder
@NewToTheLyte the more you hit the harder you hit the wins..bench pressing is the key to racquetball..a body buider would crush these guys because hes better at winning. The more you can win at the ball the better the shots and then you can have your opponent confused.
HEY! YOU CANT WIN AT ME CHEDDAR TOES!! I would tear you a new one in this game bub!! these jokers cant bench more than me and neither can you! IT ALL COMES DOWN TO WHO BENCHES MORE! THATS WHO GETS THE WINS! THE SCORE WOULD BE INSULTING! 11-7 11-9 AND 11-0 CHEESE DONUT BOY!!! ID SMASH YOU !!
I could get the win at these jokers! I can bench press way more than them! I would crush that serve and win at these guys! the score would be 11-2 11-6 11-0 ..Id win !!
@rpk0725 I can win at you! you cant hit any pass shots hard and your serve is not super sonic like mine! I would hit the ball past you hard and you woulds not be able to chase it down..and my roof shots would make you jump high and miss!! I can be the winner at you bring its on JOKER!!
I wouldn't say easier but it's a faster game and power counts for more. These guys make it look easier but every shot they're hitting is a masterclass in tactical awareness of angles that your average club player dreams of.

I just started playing Racquetball. and seeing Kane play is amazing!

This is amazing but does pro racquetball not have a delay of game rule?
great call. I agree.
where can I get the complete video of us open 2009 of racquetball???????

@Barriolaclemencia this was recorded in Memphis Tenn, USA.
are they allowed to hit the ball lower than in squash?
Galimah yes no tin
I love it when he casually knocks it around on the walls, such amazing control

The Racquetball Strategy Blog has other videos like this one of Kane with analysis.
I want to get into racquetball with my friend since our gym has three racquetball courts. Where do I start? I'm on a really small budget as well.
yeah, they dont show it because they stand there and bounce the ball off the wall umpteen times. then everyone watching says "man, hes so focused and so mentally prepared that he doesnt really show his fatigue at all!!" that sound familiar? see, the routine sucked you in already.
tbdoughty ...Can you post part 2 please?
@KapnKrunch10 your just blind, that shot clearly was a side front by Kane, that bounced twice (rojas dove for it) and after the second bounce play stopped, and kane went back to to serve. watch more carefully
I think the call was good on 4:50 because Jose was going the wrong way.
why do they take so long between serves?
WHo won?
An where was this AT?
He's in Santo Domingo at this time playing (Jose)
They should not delay. I've played many people that do the same crap and it becomes annoying. When I'm serving, I just serve the ball no hanky panky.
Yes, in fact, it's encouraged. there is no metal sheet at the front of the court.
I don't understand the rules one bit it looks so confusing the balls bouncing like 5 times before they hit it how is that hard?
CaliforniaCarl please.. 5 times ok.. and you can ALWAYS Google the rules and TH-cam how to play and rule videos
how could you declare this without seeing him hit?
Jose needs to work on his drive serves. every one of his serves were off the back wall for Kane. i noticed that he comes up as he hits it instead of staying down on the ball

Kane won in 3 games. The first game was so close but the 2nd and 3rd games weren't close.
i wanna learn how to play this sooooo bad
Alex Dennery did you ever give it a shot?
Why does he have to jump for?? seems like it's better if you don't........
The rule is you have 10 seconds to server once the score has been announced.
can you name any pro, in any sport, that isn't ocd?!?! they all are!
oh i respect his talent....but his pre-serve routine is a little drawn out. i think a part of the game is a little based on endurance and taking the time to catch your breath with a little hitting of the ball of the wall a bunch of times is an easy way around it
Jose just went to the well to many times, he should have mixed the serves to Kanes backhand with some Z serves.
Does kane ever lose? I have never seen him lose .. Ever

I'm trying to figure out why he doesn't send Kane's serves off the bottom of the wall.

look at me everyone i bounce the ball for 3 minutes before I server
then go watch squash on u-tube!! when your opinion counts for anything, "ILL LET YOU KNOW" we like racquetball. IS THAT OK WITH YOU??
Serve the ball whenever bro... take your time, you look like you're in a hurrry
you're kidding, right?? this is a joke, hahahaha...that was a good one. oh wait, youre serious. do you think pros are super human and never run out of breath?? do pros ever fatigue?? do they ALWAYS have sufficient oxygen to go on and on and on and on and on?? the answer is NO. when 2 elite athletes play against each other they will eventually start to fatigue and be out of breath. thats biology, pretty easy to see its non-disputable. well, not easy enough i guess, you thought otherwise

3:12 perfect back hand.
Andrew Kromholz No, he was out of balance, maybe the right height, he wouldn't be able to respond a shot to the right after...
@cheeesefunnel
You realize that the ball bounces back, right? How hard you hit has very little to do with success.
LitMatch spoken like someone who's never played and doesn't understand the physics of the sport
@axiomish squash is nothing compared to racquetball....gtfo
looks easier than squash...
@NewToTheLyte

good sport untill u get hit in the face lol
lol k
I could get the win at these jokers! I can bench press way more than them! I would crush that serve and win at these guys! the score would be 11-2 11-6 11-0 ..Id win !!
SO BORING
@rpk0725
I can win at you! you cant hit any pass shots hard and your serve is not super sonic like mine! I would hit the ball past you hard and you woulds not be able to chase it down..and my roof shots would make you jump high and miss!! I can be the winner at you bring its on JOKER!!
squash is looooot better in my opinion
