      @@RabbitintheMoon they are actually quite different! LVX has great presets too, but it’s also the deepest of the 3 by far. • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am just about to sell my microcosm after getting the LVX. Very different, I think people are confusing their abilities because they kind of look similar (big pedal and white), but the LVX imo is waaaay deeper and waaaay more usable.

    • @adde65
      @adde65 ปีที่แล้ว

      As others have mentioned, the Microcosm is somewhat harder to control. Looping guitarist Andre LaFosse posted some really interesting takes on what it can do & shows MC in a different light from the "fluffy make-everything-sound-pretty machine" that it's normally portrayed as. Personally I found that I was using the same predictable Mosaic patch 95% of the time, and I want to get more use out of a big pedal than that. The LVX covers far more usable ground for my purposes.

      This has both the dimension knob of the Polymoon AND a separate diffusion knob, so yes you can create amazing reverbs! Just note they are all gonna be that ambient cloud style of reverb, you can’t do like classic spring reverb or plate reverb, since you are turning your delays into reverb.

    Sorry to come off harsh, especially since I like your content. But if you're trying to go granular, there are better ways to get there than a very expensive delay. And using a delay as a reverb doesn't make sense. There are lots of great reverb effects out there that can give you the trails we hear here. And if I want generation loss, I'm going to Chase Bliss. And right now there are a lot of cheap or free plug-ins that do the same things. But live there are other cheaper choices doing the same things. The real problem I have with the LVX is that it's not offering anything innovative yet Meris is charging premium prices for rehashing old ideas. And that might be the problem with the pedal market in general, a saturated market and nothing new.

    • @MilesAwayOfficial
      @MilesAwayOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate the comment and no offense taken! I definitely agree with you that I'm gonna be recording with a seperate reverb pedal after the LVX, that was more to show the power of modular effects, but I think what is really innovative about the workflow of the LVX is how feat the workflow is vs how crazy deep and complex you can go making interesting FX chains and playing with feedback, looping, granular, all interacting together. But definitely, if you just want a reverb, or just want a gen loss, go specialized. This is more like an artist's pallet to combine and explore!

    • @commodoor6549
      @commodoor6549 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MilesAwayOfficial Thanks for the great insights. And don't get me wrong, I like Meris - I have the Enzo, Hedra, and Ottobit Jr (I regret not getting the Mercury 7 and the Polymoon). But I have at least 8 delays, maybe more, some are analog; I got the Suhr Discovery this year. So I'd have to have a really good reason to spend $600 on a digital delay (I don't do live performances, which I think is where the LVX shines). Still, a price point of closer to $400 to $450 would have been tempting.
      Btw, I am loving your content! I'm a guitarist, but I own lots of synths. I'm considering getting the OB-X8... your demos was great. Are you still loving it? Is the menu diving a problem as some have suggested?

    • @MilesAwayOfficial
      @MilesAwayOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@commodoor6549 Thanks for the kind words! And I totally get you, price point is definitely high if its not exactly what you need, or you have lots of other delays.
      As for the OB-X8, it's the best thing since sliced bread, and pretty much unbeatable sound wise AS LONG as you like that core Oberheim tone, because it always sounds like an Oberheim. If you like that sound you hear in demos (like i do) then you will be in synth heaven, but you aren't gonna have an easy time trying to get it to sound like other styles of synth music.
      In guitar terms, it's like an 8-String Ibanez metal guitar, fantastic at what it does, but you might not have the best time trying to play smooth clean acoustic jazz on a guitar that specialized.
      If you need some more demos, I'm releasing my OB-X8 custom patch bank in the first week of January so you can get a really good idea of how deep it can sound in that OB niche.

      @@MilesAwayOfficial Cool beans! I've discovered that I'm a much better writer on the keyboard. I got the PolyBrute, the UDO Super 6, the Moog Subsequent 37, Blofelt keyboard version, and other things like the Critter and Guitari Organelle, the OP-1, and the Norns with the grid. My GAS dependency and the vintage fat analog sound is urging me to get either an Oberheim or a Dave Smith Sequential... It's looking like the OB X8 at the moment, so your videos will be much appreciated.
      Btw, a UDO Super 6 vendor from Belgium sent me an extra Super 6 accidentally at no charge - when I contacted them, they weren't even aware they sent it...(how does that even happen?). We're trying to figure out how to get it back to them... but shipping to Belgium is not cheap. I feel bad for them. I'm thinking they need to sell it to someone here in the USA, someone local to me, so I can deliver it for them. Sucks. They're really nice people, I hate to see them take a loss. It's unopened in the box waiting for someone to appreciate it. Sad.
