- It's no secret that Red Bull Hardline is absolutely mental! Dan Atherton's course features breakneck speeds, huge jumps and...well...hard lines. But just how BIG is everything? How FAST are the world's best going? Blake takes to the Welsh hillside with his tape measure and a speed gun to find out!

With some of professional mountain biking's biggest names on the start list of an invite only race, Hardline is spectator favourite! But how can you tell just how nuts everything is if you're not there? The camera makes things look kind of small right? So here's Blake to give you some solid irrefutable numbers to put things into perspective!

Where should Blake take his speed gun and tape measure next?
Let us know 👇
Take it to Rotorua New Zealand
Red Bull Rampage !
Himself, i want to see him do Hardline
Red Bull Rampage
NSW green valley
I'd have preferred to see you have a go on the course
We'd have loved to but unfortunately you have to be an invited athlete to ride the course...no exceptions!
Global Mountain Bike Network shame
same with last year eh?
dude, pro legend riders gave up riding this course, don't push blake, he can do it but the risk is so hi, did u get the numbers for this jumps, it's insane big
Assaf Spector true true
HOW HARD CAN YOU RIDE A HARDTAIL: HARDLINE EDITION!!!!
WarMachine7
Broken frame time!
keir farnum nah
Dude, this just like RedBull Rampage is off limits. When you go for a run you put 10Gs of force on your feet. That's running at 7-10 Mph. Now imagine putting 2500lbs on your pedals. You need something to cushion the fall. thats almost certain death if you fall at 40mph
I think an experienced enough rider would be able to do the course on a hardtail made for DH. But they'd need to be careful with the drops and step-downs.
That was HARD to read
Love this video style hope you do one for redbull rampage
I'm scared when I hit 40 mph on my roadie. Couldn't imagine doing that on a mountain bike off road
it's less scary on downhill bike
Complete honesty, road bike does get a bit scary when you're unsure about the tarmac in front of you and going downhill at that kind of speed. A mountain bike feels a lot more confident at that speed even off road.
Luckily you're not off-road, you're in the air not even touching the off-road. Who needs traction eh?
Stewie 5.6k lol i do 30 on my longboard and i don’t have brakes
Stewie 5.6k I hit 50mph on my mountain bike on road somehow.
that Blakes laugh when he dropped the measure on the road step down :DDDDD
I Ride Wild gmbns own Matt Stephens
Awsome! Great job giving the best visuals of how HUGE those hits are. You videos keep getting Better.
I knew that it was an insane course but with the added numbers! It's just incredible
You can tell its big from Blakes reactions to the jumps
incredible!
thanks for the numbers. i know that most of the "real" life look of things is lost over film so hearing just how big the features are makes it just that much more crazy
I went 45mph on my road bike, and when I became conscious of just how fast I was going, and really felt the way my bike was controlling, I felt my stomach drop and became hyperaware of everything. To think that I would hit a 45ft gap after obtaining that kind of speed makes my knees shake just thinking about it.
Hit those jumps Blake :D
Kóbor Tamás Hell yeah!
Kóbor Tamás ok.
you should have done the same thing with slopestyle courses
Thanks for the feedback! We'll definitely throw it in to our course checks next year :)
4:50 thank you for not editing this out lmao
WOW!! Huge drops, and massive gaps!! I watched the Hardline the other day, epic track!!!
I love the concept of this video, it really shows how crazy big those fearures are
Thanks for the exact measurements, now i can replicate and ride the track in my backyard ;)
Yeah! Was looking forward to this video from GMBN!
Blake's hair is looking SICK!! You crack me up every video Blake, keep up the rad work.
GAGA WHOOOSH!! 👌
The jumps these guys do with modern bikes are amazing. Makes me feel old!
Haha Blake you're awesome
Great job guys. Thx!
That's insane! I love videos like this
Bike vault photo in the making at 6:19, love it
those numbers are mental
considered using english units its more mental....
Astonishing! Those numbers are insane when compared to an urban scenario.... like 20ft drop is a two storey high drop. 15 ft gap is like one lane on a city Road. ... wow!...we can hardly sense the craziness of the riders as it's hard to perceive the dimensions from wide a nice action cameras. Thanks for such useful information.
please continue this series!!!
really like this type of video would like see it with some more tracks
I was really hoping to see you ride the course Blake!
Impressive...and insane. Thank you for the metric values!
4:43 I'm just gonna HoOoOoOoK this... lmao voice crack
Thanks for the meter conversion
Wow you should do more like This it was very interesting to watch
exactly what i was looking for!
Another great video. Now Blake should shred it!!!!!!!
Make more videos like this pls. Btw your videos are raaaaad
Excellent edit! And thank you for the metric values!
Blake I didn't know you were a Toe head! That lighting a the hardline course showed your true colors hahaha. But I'm all seriousness I love your enthusiasm you have in all your videos. As someone who was also a emigrant who moved to the UK I love your videos with GMBN. I was born and raised I'm Santa Cruz CA and am actually living back hear at the moment but am in the process of decide whether to make the move back over to the UK or possibly up to the Oregon Coast, I work as a commercial fisherman so I have a feeling I'll end up in the PNW cause there's not many places in the world with the quality of fishing and mountain biking as the Washington/Oregon region!. Hope to see you down at Sea Otter next month!
I could listen to Blake saying "trajectory" all day.
4:50 Hahahaha Blake the DUDEEEEEEEE
Thanks for that Blake
Hard to believe that Blake didn't take a run at a few features...I'd love to go see Hardline in person! Yeah Boi!
4:48 I could just see that happening 😂
I stay Up to 3am Singapore Time Just To watch GMBN Videos When They Get Released
Ryan Lezra SICK!!! Thanks dude, that's dedication dude. Like it!!!
Same bro HAHA
I want to see Blake riding THIS! :-D
Blake is the best. "And litterally see....sayonara". measure drops.
Wow, even bigger then I imagined! Blake needs to hit that
4:51 :D:D:D wanna see more of those outtakes :D
Says "sayonara" (a japanese word) quite well but says "tradectory" funny. Awesome vid Me Shram! 😊
the kicker in redbull district is 14 foot and like 50 foot gap so it would be interesting to see what speed they are going at
Excellent video
Blake measures all the things
Beautiful moment when he drops the tape
I died as blake said sayonara and dropped the tape!
awesome track... insane riders! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Blake for Hardline!!!
Those are insane! Wow
Wow huge jumps I would not attemted any of it.
It's a very funny thing when you watching POV from this and it looks so easy... and then you looking at this pack of numbers... . Confusing :D
cameras especially GoPro dont do the jumps justice.
I lol-ed so hard @ 4:45.
OMG the jumps are extreme
Getting a ton of merch for Christmas
And i cant bunny hop with a bike...
NippeOfficial pull with your arms straight and your bum almost touching the wheel, once you lift the front wheel up practice scooping the rear with your feet
Thomas John Solidum Thanks 🙂 should i have my seat lower than usual or does it affect a lot?
lift up and jump!
NippeOfficial slam your seat on its lowest position, having a short stem helps too
NippeOfficial point your toes down, and push back on the pedals. Use the grip of the pedals to lift the back wheel. Learn the American bunny hop first, where you lift both wheels simultaneously. You basicly just drop your weight fast, going as low as possible, then push up fast while 'scooping' the back wheel, while pulling up the bars at the same time. Sounds complicated, but pretty simple on bike. After you get a grasp at that, learn the British bunny hop. I won't explain it because there are videos that can do it much better than I can.
when you see the jumps in person the numbers match up. Just a shame the cameras dont do it justice
Would love to see Blake and The Don take on this mega-beast of a course! Problem is, could GMBN afford the insurance?!
Sayonara measuring tape! RIP :D That was pretty funny.
Aweome video!🤘👌
Great video
2:35 Its funny how things are so different based on the machine. On a bmx bike this would be suicidal, on a mountain bike it is big, and yet on a dirtbike; 45 ft is tiny.
Blake could hit those gaps and drops for sure. And I guess he should ride there too.
lets all have a moment of silence for blake because each time he mesured something he had to re-role the mesuring tape with the little handle 🙏🏻
That is sick!!!
Do a video like this at Rampage!
Thx Guys
I do 40ft gap jumps rather often. but these hardline jumps are not only long, they are technical, in the way that they boost the riders up, and the run in's are crazy rough
3:33 the 40 speed is in kmh or mph?
Incredible!!!
I like the way he says "here".
blake should ride it
Remember back in the day doing 8' drops and thinking we were champs! This is just mad!
thanks for the metric system too :)
😳👊🏻😁😎👍😁😁Epic! 57ft is crazy!
That's just frickin' scary!
I was wondering whether Blake ever tried the track himself. And if not would he ever see himself actually trying this?
Will momentum and the right line make u clear those gaps?
Very nice when you'll will be posting game of bike
And Adam Brayton rips a tear-off off his goggles mid-air into dirty ferns
That is even more impressive!
its insane they have berms right after the huge jumps!
This is same gnarly that rampage
And more that darkfest
Is a pure hardcore DownHill race
Has the winner been announced for the Park tool Pk-2 Professional Tool Kit @Global Mountain Bike Network
Yes, last Dirt Shed show
Yep! On Last weeks Dirt Shed Show!
Anybody ever died on those friggin jumps? Geeeeeeez Murphy
So basically all the features can be rounded off to 50 ft, that is insane!
Hey Blake do you think you could survive it? Just curious
Daniel Rodriguez mmmmmm maybe the jumps and stuff but all the stuff in between them. NO!!!
*Rob Warner voice*WHAT 2 GMBN VIDEOS ARE ON TRENDING OH MY GOD
Was that reece wilson in the first clip for trek?
holy cow. on video it doesn't really do justice to how big those jumps are
Blake looks a bit like Charlie Hunnam in this video. That course is insane.
Awe where was my shout out for making you a brew at the top?!!!
That was a pretty narleyyyyy vid mate
wow. mindblown
Man I would love to see Sam Hill ride Hard Line, I think he would smash it!
4:47 big brain
