  • In this video I'll be reviewing the Kingbolen BM550 battery tester seeing how it compares to your everyday multimeter across a number of car batteries.
    You can check out the battery tester here on Amazon:

    Removing a battery from a car with the engine running can create power surges that can damage electronic components like the engine computer. Trying to charge a deeply discharged battery (less than 9 volts on a 12 volt battery) can overload the alternator, causing it to fail prematurely. You should get a professional style battery charger with manual settings.

    Use jumper cables and it will do the trick and less chance of damaging the car. I like the battery tester.

    A safer way to charge that low voltage battery would have been use a set of jump leads connected from a charged 12v battery to the low voltage battery. Then connect your charger - it would see the 12v and then charge the said low voltage battery whilst the batteries are in this parallel connected state. Much easier much safer - less likely to cause damage to a module on the vehicle due to potential voltage spikes during disconnection or connection whilst the engine is running.

    nice video. been looking at getting a tester, was looking at other models but for a DIYer i think i will get this one as it covers all voltages.

    Does it perform cranking and charging system tests or is just a battery SOC and SOH test?

    You have to be careful setting these testers as the markings on the battery are given in various standards it doesn't always mean CCA ie a battery marked 700CCA SAE can also be marked 640A EN 450A IEC 420 DIN they are all the same battery just marked to different standards You should be able to set the tester to CCA SAE EN IEC or DIN to get the correct reading and battery state.

    Removing the battery leads with engine running can gouge a hole in the budget when you have to replace expensive electronics of the car. It isn't a 1940's tractor with no electronics , even on that one you can burn the ligtbulbs or the power generator

    Can use to motorcycle battery ?

      Should work if it is a rechargeable battery

      This tester is 30AH to 200AH. It will work only for voltage reading but CCA it won't be accurate.
      With smaller motorcycle batteries less than 30AH.
      For that I would recommend
      Autool BT360
      Uni-t ut673a
      Lancol micro 200

    What number did you enter ?

    • @FXV
      @FXV ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bit more info for your question. The CCA value is usually written on the battery somewhere.

    Great Video ....btw resistance is in Mega ohms (not milli ohms) milliohms is basically a short circuit !!

    • @terrygee210
      @terrygee210 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not so. Battery internal resistance should be as low as possible, and for a healthy car battery it is normally below 10 milli Ohms.

    • @fins59
      @fins59 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @FXV Wrong, the internal resistance reading is in milliohms which means thousandths of an ohm.
      If the internal resistance of a battery was in Megohms ie millions of ohms, you would have a useless battery.

    • @ronthered138
      @ronthered138 หลายเดือนก่อน

      High, eg. > 10 milliohms resistance will drop a lot of voltage when cranking. One megohm at one ampere current would be one million volts.

    You are using that tester in the wrong way!!
    Tha battery should be fully charged before you test it.

    Above 7 mili amper you should keep eye on it
