It's ok for the production of spawn. However, not recommended to use food crops as the substrate. In addition, rice will retain too much moisture, which makes them not suitable.
Dear Sarah, it's a polypropylene (PP) bags, which can withstand high temperature with a melting point of 171 °C. Alternatively, polyethylene (HDPE) also can be used with a melting point of 130 °C.
yes. gypsum, calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, etc. is used to increase the pH and act as anti-bulking. However, you can omit the use of these materials as well.
I usually use a metal tea spoon, wipe with 70% alcohol, then inoculate 2-3 spoons of the spawn. Otherwise, you also may use 1-5% based on the weight of the substrate.
@@ernestovillenajr9869 make sure the moisture content of the growing medium is good (not too wet or not too dry). Inculabe at 25-30 degrees celsius in dark condision.
I used an autoclave. Steam sterilization at 121 degree celsius for at least 15 minutes. but the whole process from heating, sterilization, and cooling will take approximately 2 hours. Alternatively, you can pasteurize at 80 degree celsius for at least 8 hours.
Which covers we have to use for spawn growing

try to find it online, or find it in a local agricultural input shop.

Can i actually skip the boiling/cooking part? I noticed if I don't cook it the micelium is not white enough
yes, you can skip, depending on what material or seeds you use.

@@ropenedu it’s a filter that comes on mushroom growing bags 0.2 & 0.5 filters. For gas exchange

allow the paddy husk to absorb some water and soften them.

Great video, please I want to ask can this also be used for oyster mushroom spawn production?
yes, generally the method is similar, including for oyster mushroom

My question is: can I replace autoclave for a pressure cooker ? If yes, how long do I let the rice husk cook for?

During the steralisation in the autoclave, I didn't expect that the plastic bag won't melt under the autoclave pressure😅

in terms of yield, wen u compare both grains and rice husk, which gives better yield for mushrooms?
theoretically, spawn grown with whole rice seed (grain + husk) will give stronger inoculum as compared to rice husk alone.
Are we want use gypsum for paddy husk to make spawn?

why we must boil the rice husk first? and what is the function of the cotton near the seal? thx
boil the risk husk to allow water to absorb and soften a bit.
the cotton is to allow air exchange

Do you have to place the spawn in a dark room?
yes. dark condition will enhance mycelial growth.
