    Seen Frampton 5 times and 4 of those times I've been right next to the stage, close enough to see every chord he plays...and this is the way he plays this song.

    There is only one to play this in my opinion, and that's how Peter plays it. You make it look so easy.
    Thank you, it doesn't seem to be so hard at all. I'm into it now👍

    Its taken me 6 months, but I can play Baby I love your way. I appreciate you brutha! At first, i thought no way.... The more i practiced, the smoother it sounded, the better it sounded. I could not have done it without you. Clear, concise, deliberate, and hopeful.... Master Teacher. Frank Cobb was my first guitar teacher, when i was 8 years old. I believe he toured with Deep Purple's backup band for a few years. Wish i remember the band name. anyways. Thanks

    Thank you! excellent video - I just picked up a guitar during Covid at age 62 last year and have been trying to teach myself using online videos. You are by far the best! I saw Frampton 5 times in the 70s and listened to the album a million times (maybe on 8 track cassette - lol). To be able to play these songs was a dream, but now closer to reality. Thank you for what you do - your videos make me look forward to practicing!!

    Really appreciate the level of detail you go into with this one, you provide some good options for chords and have nailed the music - I notice Mr Frampton is playing this with his partner who co-wrote 'If I could Change The World' (Eric Clapton) so this is no doubt being consulted!

    Reminds me of Lowell George from Little Feat on the song "Willin". Another great song, just for the reasons you say, the chords ring so nicely. In fact, the chords of both songs are almost in the exact progression, so I think Frampton may have been more influenced by Lowell on this one, rather than blackbird.

    • @GuitrDad
      @GuitrDad 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting observation. Frampton did a song with Little Feat on the I'm In You record called Won't You Be My Friend, so the relationship is certainly there.

    When he was young he used the thumb. Older versions he uses his middle finger on the Bm7. Great videos. Most accurate on TH-cam. I was also screwed up on that weird fingering of the 9th chord.

    Excellent as always. It was a song I never bothered learning until I saw him perform it live a few years back with one of the Voice finalist, Terry McDermott. No disrespect to Terry, but Peter Frampton was just in another league altogether. I think the same good be said about James Taylor, especially with his Fire & Rain that also has some unique finger picking in it. Timeless classics that I hope are around for many more generations. 10/10 for the lesson.

      gjw45 Thanks bud, yeah he is a great musician. Unlike a lot of guys these days who are just "pretty faces" propped up by great musicians, song writers, producers, auto tuned voices, dancers, insane stage shows and lighting etc, in the old days you had to be able to play, sing, write and perform all on your own! Peter can do all of these things, he's a musician first, oh yeah and James Taylor's not too bad either haha. cheers

      Shutup & Play - Guitar Tutorials
      Yeah, that's what I wanted to say but was too afraid I might get flamed. There isn't anything you can really say about Peter, other than he's brilliant. If only I could sing like him....I'm vocally challenged...lol
      I always seem to forget about some artists, so I love it when you do a video of them. A lot of the times I've already learnt the song, but I love comparing what I've worked out, to what you have worked out.
      I mentioned James Taylor because a friend had asked me to teach it to him, so I had to learn it. I always like to look at the studio & live versions, (especially for this song as the chorus is very hard to hear in the studio version) I came across him playing live in 2011, and it was brilliant.
