    Thank you Donna for your videos, I haven't crocheted in 50 yrs and during this pandemic, I picked it up again for some calming to do. I am currently making samples and instructions for a book to pass down to my granddaughter since the newer generation doesn't know how to do crochet. THANK YOU AGAIN.

      That's an awesome thing to do! Have you been on tik tok and looked up crochet? You don't see many people over 40 making some beautiful items! I'm in my 20s and have been crocheting for over 10 years. It's making a come back that's for sure :)

      I am teaching the younger generation how to crochet! I'm in my late 30s and have been crocheting since I was a child. I learned how to crochet from my mother who just passed last month. Crochet still lives! I won't let it die! There are so many young people who still Crochet amd want to Crochet. It is making a beautiful come back!

      My mom tried to teach me but, she didn't make it fun. So I stuck to sketching. But as an adult I oucked it back up. Can't remember when I started. Maybe 10-12 yrs ago.
      Wish my mom was here to see all I've done. I even do doilies an 3D rugs. So, so fun! Turns out, I'm a natural as was my mom! 🥰 side note...
      When I mess up, I can hear her tell me very firmly..."Count your stitches"! 🙄🤭

    Nice video! Good camera work making it easy to see and follow the narrative. Work doesn't disappear off screen or wander about during the demonstration. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. No fluff talking about unrelated topics, just the stitch instruction. Really well done in my opinion. Thank you!±

    Good video regardless of what you call the stitches. What you call a Shells stich, I've always know as a Double V Static. Real shells (like the Shell Gas logo) do no have holes in the middle. Shells are usually an odd number of double or triples in the same stich. V's are an even number of stitches with a chain 1 or 2 chain sts in the middle to make the "V" shape.

    • @judykelley4538
      @judykelley4538 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry...hit send button before I was finished 😞. I need to know if you carry or cut yarns and weave in ends. Thanks.

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That depends upon how comfortable you are with carrying or not. Since there are a lot of rows in between color changes, I generally cut the yarn and weave in ends. However, if you are putting a border along the edges, it may be possible to carry too.

    I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who uses knife grip to crochet. I feel like pencil grip is so pervasive among crochet videos and I just can't do it. (I can but it's not comfortable for me lol.)

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me, the knife grip is more ergonomic for my wrists. I can crochet faster and for many hours at a time with that method.

    OMG my mom made this for me when I was a kid. I loved dogs so she called it puppies in a row instead of kitties in a row (BTW, I am in my late 40s now). My nephew loves frogs. I was wondering if it would be possible to round instead of make points. Would a variegated yarn work for this?

  • @jillhastings3960

    This is such a great stitch! I'm doing just one cat head row in my temperature blanket to represent us visiting the Dr. Seuss Museum. I'm having trouble with the third row, by the time I got to the end it was as though I added several stitches. It is like the extended double crochet is adding a stitch. In my case I have 249 stitches, with one of those factored in it is adding 50 stitches to my row. What am I doing wrong?

  • @carabingham3207
    @carabingham3207 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi. For row 4 at the end do you skip over the extended cluster stitch from row three to do the two double at the end? I was confused because after the last shell I was left with 3 stitches.
    That’s a cute stitch and I’m using it as part of a cardigan. Thanks you

    Love this stitch. You are very talented. Do you just carry the other colors of yarn as you change along the sides? Do you use a way to cover up the yarn being carried up?

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Generally I carry the yarn along the sides. Then I add a single crochet border first around the entire four edges to make the carry ups less noticeable. That alone hides the majority of ends. Then I'll usually crochet some other border around it to really direct your eyes away from the edges of the stitches.

    Hello!! First of all... thank you for this tutorial! Second of all... I would love to use this stitch to do a tote bag, how many chains do you suggest me for my project? If you have more suggestions they're more than welcome!!

      Thank you! The average tote bag is something like 13"x15", so if you chain approximately 13 inches worth of chains (while still keeping with the pattern's multiple), I think you should be good.

    This is a dumb question, will it still look okay if I only use one colour? Or will the cats be less defined🥺

      I find the multiple colors do help define the cats.

    I have seen this stitch so many times. I wanted to learn how to do it. My dil LOVES cats. I am making a blanket, sweater, hat, and booties for my grandbaby coming in Feb. Then I plan on making her a sweater for her birthday. It is so much easier to do than I thought it would be. Thank you so much for this video.

    Does this stitch work for bulkier yarn (with a bigger hook)? I would like to make a full size blanket using this stitch, and I'm wondering if a bulky yarn could work up faster and heavier weight, or if it wouldn't work at all

      This one works just fine with bulkier yarn and a larger hook. I've done it before. Definitely makes it work up quicker!

    Hiii!! I love your videos! Can someone please explain what I am supposed to do with the strings after I change colors? Am I supposed to cut and tie or leave them to later use again once that color comes up again? I’m making a blanket out of this cute stitch

      I have tutorials for changing colors in crochet that can give you several options on what to do. In the TH-cam search bar type Naztazia Changing Colors.
