but do you realise that these talks cause more chaos and division than unity? and do you realise that Republicans might sue to keep any new candidate off the ballot and they would have to win just one or two lawsuits? I mean, one state already wanted to keep Biden off the ballot because the DNC convention didn't meet their deadline. what I want to say is, I'm German watching from Germany and I've been following your clown show closely since January. In my opinion you should just quit these talks and focus on what's important, which is getting behind Biden and educate the voters, making the case against Trump. No candidate will be perfect and I believe Biden's age is really by far your smallest problem because anyone who would automatically replace him in case he won't make the next four years is still better than the alternative. it's been two weeks since the debate, why didn't anyone challenge Biden for real a couple of months ago, why come forward now?? replacing Biden now would disenfranchise voters and some may not like it... just saying. I'm worried about the world's future and I'm frustrated that it is in your hands - sorry to say that.

The LEAST important criteria in a president is the ability to smart off in front of a TV camera. The most important functions of a president are not televised. With Biden, I believe you get a whole cabinet full of competent individuals whom I trust to advise him to retire when they see a true need. A cabinet full of competent individuals to continue to operate in the best interests of Americans. With the alternative, you get a whack-job narcissist, and a cabinet full of spineless power-hungry sycophants. Would I like to have Joe take the win and enjoy his golden years without the stresses? Guys, guys please refrain from fostering further chaos.
Tellingly, for Democrats to lose the incumbency advantage with President Biden would be "catastrophe" for Democrats Nov 2024, according to eminent scholar & historian, Allan Lichtman.
President Biden's team needs to bring in Dr Ramani Durvasula to assist with preparation before the next debate. She's a recognized expert in strategies for dealing with pathological liars.
      Changing the nominee???
Democrats tried this chaos inducing strategy before & they lost big time.
Everyone who loves America & truth has to double up & treble-up on the work needed between now and Labor Day to back Biden/Harris and to save democracy
Democrats should know their own history.
They tried this double-minded, change horses in the middle of the stream fantasy at the Democratic convention in the 1960s.
The result: - they lost the White House
      This is only one debate.

Bottom line though, you sound like RepublicanMAGAs & their proven skewed pollsters and political strategists.
It's not 'unreality' to say: -
      Stop panicking, start problem solving!
Which of the Presidential nominee debate "winners" over the last 60 years went on to win the Presidency??
The Democrats must blitz the American public with the best of Biden - concentrating on the swing States.
      *But* *will* *they??????*
I have so much respect for y'all, however, by the time you wake up tomorrow morning, you need to be in problem solving mode.

    I can answer Tim’s question:
    1. It creates a perception of indecisiveness. If Dems had rolled with the punches from the debate and not spent , now weeks, having this debate the outcome overall would have been better
    2. Every moment spent talking about this obscures and distracts from covering Trump.
    3. Biden isn’t leaving and no amount of complaining is changing that. So the only way to change candidates now is to force him out. That makes the Dems look disorganized and weak.
    4. That fight to replace him will fracture the party.
At this point Trump does not even have to run, he can just sit back and watch the Democrats eat themselves and waltz to victory. You go to war with the Army you have not the army you want. At this point unless Biden willingly steps aside for Kamala (and he won’t) continually having this conversation is counterproductive

I watched the debate. It seemed to me that Biden was suffering from dehydration. Air travel plus a cold plus being older and it can sneak up quickly. I've experienced this myself as well as in my elderly parents. Cognitive impairment and difficulty speaking(due to a very dry mouth) are among the symptoms. Ironically, if you drink too much water it can dilute electrolytes, which can cause further disorientation and confusion. I held my breath until the break when I hoped that he would be given an electrolyte drink but, if so, it didn't act fast enough. He did seem to be exhausted, so maybe it was as simple as that.
I agree with Bakari Sellers 100%. Biden is not going anywhere, nor should he step down. It would be a media feeding frenzy and utter chaos and a total disaster. Do not underestimate Biden. He has overcome more adversity in his lifetime that all of us here put together. Yes, he is an 81 year old man with a lifelong speech impediment. He also happens to be the best president of my lifetime. I would be ashamed to turn my back on him now.

From a performance standpoint, Biden did not have a good debate. The casual viewer likely missed Biden's message.
However, if you get past the performance and actually listen to what was said, you would know Bunker Boy never answered any of the questions, constantly lied and provided no vision for the future.
Biden spoke the truth, *did* answer most of the question and offered a glimpse of his vision of a 2nd term.
Unfortunately, most outlets refuse to cover that aspect of the debate, thus they are giving Bunker Boy a big pass.

With respect to Bakari, I didn't come away from this thinking that Biden is better than him stepping aside and Harris stepping up. This doesn't feel like a great choice, and I feel like Biden and his inner circle aren't fully considering the downsides. The case for staying with Biden is part inertia and part the likelihood that he could turn things around. That said, if Biden sticks in the race, I do believe he can step down if truly incapacitated, and that would turn things to Harris. I am voting for Biden. I would like to see the Democrats make the race all about Trump and his horrible, horrible plans.

Tim says that Joe owes us an honest assessment, but I think what Tim really means is that Joe owes us an assessment that agrees with Tim's, and that's not the same thing.
Nobody KNOWS what will happen if it's Biden v Trump, and nobody KNOWS what will happen if it's Harris v Trump. There are argunents to be made for each of the options, but Biden can't ride both horses, he has to make a decision, and he has to try to be dispassionate about it. He cannot be swayed by the thought that if he stays in and loses people will say that his ego was responsible for the death of democracy. He should imo seek advice from the people from whom he normally seeks advice, and then make an honest assessment of who he thinks has the best chance of beating Trump, and decide on that basis.

Just because the Republicans run candidates that deny reality does not mean it becomes sane or safe for us to do so.
