- Time for another railroad adventure! The historic Verde Canyon Railroad makes a 40 mile round trip thru wild and scenic Verde River Canyon. Trains depart daily, year round from Clarkdale, AZ - just down the hill from Thunder Mesa Studio in Jerome. The old Santa Fe branch line was completed in 1912 to serve the copper mines of Jerome and continues to operate today as one-of-a-kind tourism line. Ride along and se where the inspiration for some of my red rock scenery came from! Verde Canyon Railroad: verdecanyonrr.com/

Rode it once. HIGHLY recommended it. Very relaxing...especially with a few cold beers. Lots to look at. 2 hrs out, uncouple then 2 hrs back.
Content that makes me feel content.
Wow! I’ve never heard of this railroad before. They have some gorgeous streamlined locomotives!
Nice video 🎥👍🙋🏻♂️
Greetings from Germany Gert
Just purchased tickets for this train ride. I’m looking forward to the trip
Looks like a great ride!
Took this ride with my family. It was a great time!
My next train ride trip
The views on that railway look amazing.
It's also funny to see F-Units termed as historic and doing easy tasks like this: Where I am in Australia, we still have quite a few of our equivalent running freight trains regularly!
Gosh! I haven't been on that in about 20 years. I guess it's time for another ride.
Beautiful railroad. Added to bucket list. Great video! 👍
I played with having an excursion train running on my model railroad based on railroads like this. Locally we have the Baldwin Railroad with a station called Nowhere. Yes, there is a Nowhere, Kansas.
They sold beer on the train and I got high as a kite.
Hell yeah Im going.
😂
I did this ride on 9/2018. Great ride. I just wish I knew about you & Thunder Mesa Studio then. Thanks for the 2nd ride.
I was on this train as a kid and won the Jellybean Contest to guess how many Jellybeans were in the jar. From what I remember, the ride was phenomenal, especially the open cars and the amazing views.
Since then, I like history and I’d love to ride again in the future and learn more about the history of the railway and the land around it. I don’t remember the FP7’s but I do remember one EMD GP9 and 2 GP26. I’d definitely go back just to see the FP7’s alone as a classic train enthusiast. Thanks for the video and the memories!
Thats the same model of engine from Runaway Train. One of my favourite films.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
A wonderful experience!!
Thanks Dave. A very well done video.
Never knew of this RR....looka great thanks for sharing
Looks like a fun ride!
Nice train ride I will have to check it out the next time I am out there.
That there’s some beautiful rockwork you got goin there on Thunder Mesa!
My son just got a job with this railroad!!!
thank you share the video
Well, that was a great surprise. That looks like a great little trip. Majestic and beautiful scenery. But…… having visited Arizona during the summer months, probably a fall, winter, and spring trip. Thanks for sharing.
The first class coaches are air conditioned!
Great video sir.
Very nice, I will put this train ride on my Bucket list! Do you do tours of your layout as well?
It seems there are 3 different packages available which one is this? Or is the same ride just different price for 1st class etc, thank you great video
Did anyone catch that gnome @3:57 ?
Good eye
Dave, Thank you for the video. I have watched it a couple of times now. That is the scenery I want on my narrow gauge mining railroad. The rock colors are striking. In the video about 1:36 there is a lower area of rock that appears almost black. Is that also limestone? Keep video coming!
Thank you! That darker rock is actually a layer of volcanic basalt.
What would the weather be like in February?
🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂
They sell the beer the train or BYOB? How should I dress. I going June 13, 2024
They sell beer, wine and other drinks on the train. Dress for warm weather in June.
