All of it was debunked but it was too late people had jumped on the hate bandwagon, calling him a horse and all sorts of horrible things. He was really down after the first elimination cause he must have seen all the hate . FM entertainments CEO wrote a letter pleading people to not believe and send hate to him cause of him mental health but still no one stopped. It broke my heart when I heard the cheering stop during his parts.
Right. Like I stopped going on twitter for sometime because of just how much people were hating on him. I reported a few but eventually stopped. They call him a horse when he's literally so attractive. They just put that clip of 'home' team dancing to 'back door' during the eliminations and called him names. "Over me team would've been perfect only if he wasn't there" Like who was gonna hit those notes? I was so pissed. His ranks have been dropping and he looks so awkward everytime he's on screen. it actually was, no surprise kep1er's management is so terrible. they wanted to see how the public would react to the comeback of the produce series, if their new ways of voting worked, how it was to have a group formed not by their corruption but by the public, etc. boys planet was always the main goal, gp being only the testing phase.
Yeah Girls Planet 999 had so bad system with the cell system and all that. Like some cells got carried by one member and some talented members got eleminated because of the rest of the cell was trash.
Jay getting last was a bit of a shock but him getting 485 was even more appalling. Even the trainees backstage were too shock about Jay's votes that Kamden stood up and was ready to fight for Jay. Haruto too! Seowon was sad and disappointed. Even Hui was confused about the result. Literally every single trainee in that room couldnt believe it, including Jay's teammates themselves. So the next day, when clips/videos of trainees reaction to all the stages: when they were reacting to Over Me team, they were all praises for Jay, and I mean EVERYONE. There were praises for other members as well, but the praises for Jay were overwhelming. Hui, Kamden and Keita were all excited for his high note. Haruto, Seowon and Taerae was shocked that Jay could sing high notes, do adlibs, be stable, all of it LIVE while still dancing. PHanbin, Gunwook, Seunghwan and Jongwoo kept on saying praises for Jay. Keita even said that Jay hard carried the vocals. The praises for him lingered even after the performance. Hence it was a huge shock for them after seeing Jay's score and rank. Jay was definitely robbed of screentime by Mnet and of votes by the live audiences.
The Jay hate train is getting out of hand, i thought people learned something from the bahiyyih hate train in gp999, but no. On the free day when the trainees were out on Seoul and people talked to them, he said how I hurted him to see people saying such bad things about him and how he cried because of that. His allegations were debunked and the person that started all deleted the Twitter thread and apologized, why is people still hating on him? From Jaystars that were in the audience, people purposefully pressed B for him just because they didn’t like him, mnet putted a lot of antis there. This and how they literally cropped him out in the broadcast when he was doing the highnote, they are really putting people against him. I’m really worried, I hope he’s okay, someone shouldn’t get all the hate he is getting. We know from hiyyih how this can affect someone, people should do better
When they mentioned that the position change happened 1 hour before the evaluation, i was like 🤡 They really made a big deal out of a disagreement that lasted four like 3 hours between a group assignment, DUDE I had worse fight doing group assignments for university 😂😂😂😂
It was very ridiculous that they split it into three parts in 3 episodes. I started getting annoyed with Matthew but I literally had to remind myself it’s MNET dragging it out in editing and their disagreement probably didn’t last as long lol
contestants like jay and jongwoo have been getting a lot of hate trains lately but it’s because of knetz and their dislike for people that don’t fit their standards, it’s so sad seeing such talented people get attacked and judged for fake rumors and debunked drama, especially when the real purpose of the show has been to vote for people based off their performances and talents, the talk these two had in the episode made be really sad because they are probably aware of the hate they get and think all their hard work is for nothing, it’s why i’ve been voting for these two since the start and will continue promoting and encouraging people to vote for them as well !! of course their are many talented trainees, but i think these two are getting hate to stop people from voting for them and that’s truly unfair to both of them

The CEO of FM (Jay's company) wrote a letter about tha hate Jay was receiving and she mentions that Jay isolated himself many days during his meals just to cry alone. She said that he was doing his best enduring everything and still trying to comfort his worried parents. That broke my heart... The CEO stated that it was all fake rumors but people didn't stop the hate. They don't even care if it was fake or not. Their only purpose its to make everything to cause Jay's downfall. I just wish people prioritize him in the votes in the final voting. He has chances, fr, his fans just need to vote for him harder cause the votes are all that matters. It would be such a satisfaction to see him debuting in the final lineup. He's trying for almost six years now and had to suffer so much during Boys Planet. I just wish he succeeds at the end, so he will be rewarded for all of this.

Jay is one of the kindest people and DOESN’T deserve to be mass bullied. Before Boys planet started there were tweets saying “oh let’s make up rumors about the boys, we need to spice things up!” And that’s when they started making up things about Jay and ganging up on him. BP fans needed a punching bag and unfortunately it had to be Jay. People have been bullying him relentlessly and when you ask them for proof or for a reason they either tell you “I don’t care, I just f hate him” or “he’s annoying.” It’s so sad to see this happen on a daily basis and to see people dragging him left and right. The CEO of his company shared how Jay would cry everyday during lunch due to the toxic comments and the hate:( why are people so mean? Everything that u said its true. When I first got interested in him I watched every single one of his lives that I found here on yt. It was a lot! And the more I was watching, the more I was growing my respect for him. Him and Beomhan openly support LGBTQIA+ community. He supports people like me. I always see him being gentle, polite and well-spoken to people around him. He did support BLM as well, and here on yt (or tiktok) i found a video of him talking against bullying when he was only a child. I think its really awful that a sweet boy like him, who has been nothing but respectful and kind, has to suffer and be acused of things that he never did. To me he is like a perfect idol figure, not a perfect plastic doll, but a human being that I really admire and relate. And he is talented AS HELL. His vocals are so beyond a trainee level. He's a great performer and has a lot of charisma too. What more can I ask in an idol? Some of my faves would NEVER openly support some causes that I believe and that's really sad. But Jay do. I would be so happy if he succeeds. He deserves all the best, fr.
Yes I agree that the mentors this season look like they’re actually teaching & guiding the trainees! Zhanghao was the one who requested for a personal meeting with Solji haha I’ve never seen a trainee do this even in all the previous mnet survival shows 😂 Zhanghao’s model student mentality is cute, he’s like the type of hardworking student who always goes to the professor to ask questions right after a class 😂 (I have no doubt that he’s someone like that ‘cause he was brave enough to raise his hands in front of 97 other trainees when the vocal masters asked if anyone wanted to volunteer singing). Did you know Zhanghao is actually super smart? I’m so jealous… you honestly wouldn’t want him to be your cousin if you’re born in an Asian household. He’s too over-qualified for this job 😂 His CSAT score was so good that he got into the best geoscience university in China, but he rejected it and chose to pursue music and retake his CSAT (my family would have kicked me out of the house if I chose music over science lmao) . With only 6 months of preparation he managed to become the highest scorer in Fujian, China (a province with 39 million population) and got into his university with scholarship. He also managed to graduate a year earlier… king of time management fr idk how he managed to graduate early while doing so much all at one time (home-tutoring kids, singing on school events, playing violin in wedding ceremonies as a part time job, attending dance classes outside etc.) I want to have his brain 🥲

I think Keita lost confidence because nobody recognize his hard work. He made G-group Kill this love a freaking success yet they didn't win and Love me right team got the 1st place. He killed it in Zoom team and the same happened. Now they rejected him from Over me for no good reason (imagine being this talented, in top 9, praised by the mentors and your teammates still dont want you for the job ? Man it's harsh). I feel like nobody told him how amazing he is doing through the show. The judges praised him a lot in the first episodes but now I feel like everyone kinda takes him for granted, he is so underappreciated it hurts honestly. It broke my heart when he didn't even want the rap position because of low self estime while he is doing such a good job since the show started. I'm happy he seemed to get closer to Jongwoo since this one has such good vibes. If you still dont know for who to pick for the final ranking, please consider voting for Keita ? So true that is why i hated over me because what happen to keita like.. keita even choose zhang hao and kuan jui before their rank are not that high compare to them, but when keita choose them in KTL people recognized them especially zhang hao like wtf they are not thankful, like they choose those trainees who are not on the level of keita🤔 But at the same time i'm kinda happy because keita became close with jongwoo,phanbin and taerae performing with the other best trainees also like keita so its worth it😊
i like Keita as much as the next person and he is part of my 3 pick but i disagree that Zhang Hao and Chuan Jui should not have voted him off just because Keita chose them for KTL and they got recognized for it. first, this is a competition and all trainees, Keita included, will always choose how best to survive. 2nd, Keita chose them in KTL because he obviously recognized their talents and he wanted to form an avengers team so he was also being strategic then (and actually this is what made me stan him). 3rd, Zhang Hao and Kuan Jui already got spotlighted since ep 1. Zhang Hao with his "musical prodigy" arc and Kuan Jui as a talented dancer. Keita is not getting the screentime and support he needs from Korean fans, not because of his lack of talent, but because he just does not fit Korean idol beauty standards. this is sad but unfortunately true. Talent is not the only criteria for being an idol. It's up to the international fans to boost him up (this is how Zihao made it this war despite 0 screentime. he also does not fit Korean beauty standars despite being the best dancer and a potential good backstory as well)

people pronounce idols' names wrong literally all of the time, since we're all from different countries. i personally try to get the closer possible to the original pronunciation without sounding strange, but i don't think anyone in kpop would stress this much about pronunciation. actually think the majority of them kinda like it (insert here the clip of baekhyun calling himself bacon lol)
I kinda understand why it was romanized as chen guan jui though, his name in pinyin is Chénguānruì, but phonetically the R in mandarin chinese is very hard for english speakers to pronounce, and when you say his name in mandarin it does sound close to a very subtle J sound in french, and the sound doesnt exist in english. If you wanna get technical, try saying the word "treasure" and remember how your tounge moves and feels when it says the S, thats how to pronounce the R in mandarin. But again, because it's paired with an N, the R sound isnt as strong hence it gets romanized into a J, like the french J. (Personally I too agree that it's not the best romanization, but I'm just giving another perspective lol) If you turn his name into hangeul it would be 천관루이 - it can be romanized as cheon/chun gwallui or cheon gwanlui (depending on what romanization system youre using). The ㄹ in korean becomes closer to an L when paired with ㄴ or ㄹ, and becomes closer to an english R when paired with a vocal sound before that So him emphasizing RR to me was just a fun play on language and romanization and phonetics.
coming back 10 months later to kind of correct myself after studying Chinese for 4 months in Taiwan-- My comment above wasn't entirely wrong! Taiwan doesn't use the standard pinyin romanization system they use in Mainland China, instead they use a few other systems, and the most commonly used system is the Wade-Giles romanization system, which is what Kuan-Jui used to Romanize his name! In the Wade-Giles system, the ㄖ (r sound) is romanized into J, So, that's his official "English" name, which he probably registered when he came to Korea or before joining boys planet :3
The whole Matthew arc has been so frustrating. Like it was no one's fault. Things like that are super common in a group. I feel li ke mnet is trying to break matbin and promote zhangin. . . like do they expect me to believe that hanbin didn't try to console Matthew? It's no necessarily a problem with the *shows*. It's an "issue" with the whole entertainment industry, not even the only the kpop industry. People judge, and watch what they like seeing. It's just like how you don't date someone solely for their personality, appearance matters even if many deny it. (Okay, that was the worst analogy, but I hope it's helpful.)
It's kinda subjective, you can be the most talented person but if you do not have any X factor, people may overshadow you. I really do think popular idols are born to be on stage. It may be a sad realization but that's how it works.

Really love your little written commentary edits😂 very relatable and amusing I agree with phanbin getting the best edit this episode. I really wonder what the rational behind airing all of his performances on the latter episode is? They give him the best edits but never the time to capitalise on it so I’m baffled. He is rising though and now it’s only a matter of his one pick-ability. I wonder if we’ll see another major edit coming his way in the last mission to secure his spot. Zhanghao also got a pretty good edit this episode. Struggling as a leader but being humble enough to ask for advice from the mentors and acting on it to better his teams performance. He got the leader edit I thought they would give shanbin. But like you said his leader arc was just unfinished? Even the reconciliation scene was between Matthew and Jiwoong only. The whole SMN edit was awful and I’ll never forgive Mnet for giving us that mess instead of recording scenes😭 I would even take more duck scenes over it honestly Ricky was definitely more visible and I’m very confused about mnets intention with him. Showed his rank in the interim to drag him down but giving him positive screen time the next episode lol. Even if he fell a bit he’s still a threat so maybe they really just accepted it. On the topic of eliminations I’m so nervous and scared to see it. This is by far going to be the hardest goodbye😭😭I’ll probably cry through all the fluff content too.
If anyone has problem with Matthew's screentime please blame Msnake and their production team. The way everyone comes attacking at him makes me so disappointed in these kpop fans. Well let me break this down for you. Matthew is in top nine while Park Hanbin is not. Matthew's popularity is increasing manifolds while Park Hanbin is mainly supported by Koreans. I don't know what mnet wants but I clearly know what the haters want. Matthew's downfall will allow their picks to enter the top 9 just like how Jay's downfall gave rise to another K trainee. You're seeing the pattern, Matthew is actually very talented and his loyal fandom is so strong mnet fears his international popularity could be a threat to their centers so they're tryna manipulating viewers. This way they're making sure their centers position remains unthreatened while the other trainees of the same age group get hyped. Matthew has been portrayed as a bad leader and as a bad team member in particular while we all know he's clearly not. Dude gave up the part he wanted two times but the third time he was hesitant he got backlash from the public. I disagree. Na Kamden was having trouble helping the other members of Switch when he was the leader. He asked for Park Hanbin's help since he had been a leader before and had advice to help the members. For instance, Keita because his parts were small find ways to stand out etc. Hanbin was the only one that got good feedback during the practice. This was not the first time Hanbin had been praised for being a good leader! He actually wanted to focus on being center instead of being leader.
The lack of screen time for Jiwoong is worrying me especially since all the other contestants seem to like him a lot which means they interact with him slot to build rapport. I do t think Mnet wants him to debut even though from what I see from the behind the scenes he gets along with everyone.
My predictions as for who's being eliminated: Kamden, Seowon, Jongwoo, Takuto, Hiroto, Ollie, Shuai Bo, Woongi, Seunghwan. The last one will either be Zihao (big 1 pick fandom) or KuanJui (if bonus points save him).
I have a feeling that chen guan rui was not upset because of whether he was visible or not but because of how long they probably spent on the part itself, but mnet conveniently edited it this was to make him seem selfish in any way that they can, fkin ridiculous

I really fell for Park Hanbin the last couple weeks. I’ve been watching his fancam and I love his leadership skills. Helps that many of the eliminated trainees like him.
Boys Planet is going to be the last mnet survival show I watch. This season is honestly the worst, all 4 Produce series and GP999 weren’t even this bad 💀 Unfair screen time distribution and evil editing are something that I’ve gotten used to seeing in all the previous seasons. But the production team went overboard this season. There was no need to drag on a drama for nearly 3 episodes (referring to SMN team). My boy Seungeon barely got any screentime this episode… even the ducks in that one shot of the pond had more screen time than Seungeon 😢 Matthew was one of my top picks but the recent episodes have really ruined my impression of him. I don’t blame him for getting upset, I just wish he handled things differently and controlled his emotions more carefully & appropriately because this is a reality show and everything you do is subjected to scrutiny. While it wasn’t his fault that mnet chose to dramatize his situation, I really can’t understand what is mnet’s purpose of pushing Matthew like this. I have no issue with PD picks but mnet, this is not the way to do it… at least be moderate about it please 💀 Another reason why this season was the worst imo: THEY’RE LITERALLY A SCAMMER 💢 Ending the first survival announcement TH-cam livestream after announcing only ONE trainee, and promising to release the performances in episode 9 only to split them up into 2 episodes…… I was so disappointed when I realized that I had to wait another week to watch Over Me performance. Lost all anticipation at that point tbh 😶 especially since the dance practice, cute onesies version, and 1.5x speed version of the performances were released on TH-cam before episode 10. We have basically seen everything BUT the actual stage performance itself by that time. That was frustrating 😩

I think its really hard for Korean society to accept cultural differences of western contestants. Also, I think they are not ready for global group or market at all. We dont get their preference and they ours, its just ridiculous and tiring. I really loved iLand - it seemed smh less toxic and more masculine for my taste and Peak Time, which is like therapy comparing it with BP. Im just really confused with BP time to time - what is this? Popularity contest? Queer planet or drag race? War between K and I fans and why? Its not how talent shows should be..at least what we have in Northern Europe and I really cant see this kind of band being popular in our area (if their aim is global)

Regarding Jay, I’ve seen spoilers saying that the audience couldn’t really hear his singing properly because the instrumentals were loud and there was a lot of people screaming their lungs off while watching Over Me stage performance. So their votes were based more on the dance performance I guess? Jay is great as a vocalist and his voice really suits the song but he really should work on his dancing skills a bit more… Consider watching his solocam and comparing it with his teammates’ solocam, and you’ll get what I mean. No hate on Jay tho, I’m just explaining my theory on why he got the lowest votes in his team
Disagree a little. Yeah ppl don’t care for Shauibo after last week but he was by far the weakest in Switch. He barely put effort during the stage and just watch his facial expressions, the entire time he looked like he still had the mindset of ‘I’m not making finals anyway so I’m going to half ass it’. Jay however was robbed for sure, like last place makes no sense, I definitely felt bad for him. Also Hiroto and Zihao continue to get no screentime 😞
Interesting opinion. I watched his fancam and I think he did really well, he catches the camera well and did great expressions too. He is much hard working than how mnet made him look. He practiced for 3 parts of switch dances before the 2nd elimination.

Jay is not a bad person, someone literally decided they want to hate on a g group trainee and created a fake thread with fake screenshots and stories. All of it was debunked but it was too late people had jumped on the hate bandwagon, calling him a horse and all sorts of horrible things. He was really down after the first elimination cause he must have seen all the hate . FM entertainments CEO wrote a letter pleading people to not believe and send hate to him cause of him mental health but still no one stopped. It broke my heart when I heard the cheering stop during his parts.

Yeah Girls Planet 999 had so bad system with the cell system and all that. Like some cells got carried by one member and some talented members got eleminated because of the rest of the cell was trash.
Jay getting last was a bit of a shock but him getting 485 was even more appalling. Even the trainees backstage were too shock about Jay's votes that Kamden stood up and was ready to fight for Jay. Haruto too! Seowon was sad and disappointed. Even Hui was confused about the result. Literally every single trainee in that room couldnt believe it, including Jay's teammates themselves.
So the next day, when clips/videos of trainees reaction to all the stages: when they were reacting to Over Me team, they were all praises for Jay, and I mean EVERYONE. There were praises for other members as well, but the praises for Jay were overwhelming.

Haruto, Seowon and Taerae was shocked that Jay could sing high notes, do adlibs, be stable, all of it LIVE while still dancing.

The praises for him lingered even after the performance.
Hence it was a huge shock for them after seeing Jay's score and rank.

On the free day when the trainees were out on Seoul and people talked to them, he said how I hurted him to see people saying such bad things about him and how he cried because of that. His allegations were debunked and the person that started all deleted the Twitter thread and apologized, why is people still hating on him?

The CEO of FM (Jay's company) wrote a letter about tha hate Jay was receiving and she mentions that Jay isolated himself many days during his meals just to cry alone. She said that he was doing his best enduring everything and still trying to comfort his worried parents. That broke my heart... The CEO stated that it was all fake rumors but people didn't stop the hate. They don't even care if it was fake or not. Their only purpose its to make everything to cause Jay's downfall. I just wish people prioritize him in the votes in the final voting. He has chances, fr, his fans just need to vote for him harder cause the votes are all that matters. It would be such a satisfaction to see him debuting in the final lineup. He's trying for almost six years now and had to suffer so much during Boys Planet. I just wish he succeeds at the end, so he will be rewarded for all of this.

Jay is one of the kindest people and DOESN’T deserve to be mass bullied. Before Boys planet started there were tweets saying “oh let’s make up rumors about the boys, we need to spice things up!” And that’s when they started making up things about Jay and ganging up on him. BP fans needed a punching bag and unfortunately it had to be Jay. People have been bullying him relentlessly and when you ask them for proof or for a reason they either tell you “I don’t care, I just f hate him” or “he’s annoying.” It’s so sad to see this happen on a daily basis and to see people dragging him left and right. The CEO of his company shared how Jay would cry everyday during lunch due to the toxic comments and the hate:( why are people so mean?

Everything that u said its true. When I first got interested in him I watched every single one of his lives that I found here on yt. It was a lot! And the more I was watching, the more I was growing my respect for him. Him and Beomhan openly support LGBTQIA+ community. He supports people like me. I always see him being gentle, polite and well-spoken to people around him. He did support BLM as well, and here on yt (or tiktok) i found a video of him talking against bullying when he was only a child. I think its really awful that a sweet boy like him, who has been nothing but respectful and kind, has to suffer and be acused of things that he never did. To me he is like a perfect idol figure, not a perfect plastic doll, but a human being that I really admire and relate. And he is talented AS HELL. His vocals are so beyond a trainee level. He's a great performer and has a lot of charisma too. What more can I ask in an idol? Some of my faves would NEVER openly support some causes that I believe and that's really sad. But Jay do. Yes I agree that the mentors this season look like they’re actually teaching & guiding the trainees! Zhanghao was the one who requested for a personal meeting with Solji haha I’ve never seen a trainee do this even in all the previous mnet survival shows 😂 Zhanghao’s model student mentality is cute, he’s like the type of hardworking student who always goes to the professor to ask questions right after a class 😂 (I have no doubt that he’s someone like that ‘cause he was brave enough to raise his hands in front of 97 other trainees when the vocal masters asked if anyone wanted to volunteer singing). Did you know Zhanghao is actually super smart? I’m so jealous… you honestly wouldn’t want him to be your cousin if you’re born in an Asian household. He’s too over-qualified for this job 😂 His CSAT score was so good that he got into the best geoscience university in China, but he rejected it and chose to pursue music and retake his CSAT (my family would have kicked me out of the house if I chose music over science lmao) . With only 6 months of preparation he managed to become the highest scorer in Fujian, China (a province with 39 million population) and got into his university with scholarship. He also managed to graduate a year earlier… king of time management fr idk how he managed to graduate early while doing so much all at one time (home-tutoring kids, singing on school events, playing violin in wedding ceremonies as a part time job, attending dance classes outside etc.) I want to have his brain 🥲

i like Keita as much as the next person and he is part of my 3 pick but i disagree that Zhang Hao and Chuan Jui should not have voted him off just because Keita chose them for KTL and they got recognized for it. first, this is a competition and all trainees, Keita included, will always choose how best to survive. 2nd, Keita chose them in KTL because he obviously recognized their talents and he wanted to form an avengers team so he was also being strategic then (and actually this is what made me stan him). 3rd, Zhang Hao and Kuan Jui already got spotlighted since ep 1. Zhang Hao with his "musical prodigy" arc and Kuan Jui as a talented dancer.
Keita is not getting the screentime and support he needs from Korean fans, not because of his lack of talent, but because he just does not fit Korean idol beauty standards. this is sad but unfortunately true. Talent is not the only criteria for being an idol. It's up to the international fans to boost him up (this is how Zihao made it this war despite 0 screentime. he also does not fit Korean beauty standars despite being the best dancer and a potential good backstory as well)

people pronounce idols' names wrong literally all of the time, since we're all from different countries. i personally try to get the closer possible to the original pronunciation without sounding strange, but i don't think anyone in kpop would stress this much about pronunciation. actually think the majority of them kinda like it (insert here the clip of baekhyun calling himself bacon lol)

I kinda understand why it was romanized as chen guan jui though, his name in pinyin is Chénguānruì, but phonetically the R in mandarin chinese is very hard for english speakers to pronounce, and when you say his name in mandarin it does sound close to a very subtle J sound in french, and the sound doesnt exist in english. If you wanna get technical, try saying the word "treasure" and remember how your tounge moves and feels when it says the S, thats how to pronounce the R in mandarin. But again, because it's paired with an N, the R sound isnt as strong hence it gets romanized into a J, like the french J. (Personally I too agree that it's not the best romanization, but I'm just giving another perspective lol)

The ㄹ in korean becomes closer to an L when paired with ㄴ or ㄹ, and becomes closer to an english R when paired with a vocal sound before that So him emphasizing RR to me was just a fun play on language and romanization and phonetics.

Taiwan doesn't use the standard pinyin romanization system they use in Mainland China, instead they use a few other systems, and the most commonly used system is the Wade-Giles romanization system, which is what Kuan-Jui used to Romanize his name! The whole Matthew arc has been so frustrating. Like it was no one's fault. Things like that are super common in a group. I feel li ke mnet is trying to break matbin and promote zhangin. . . like do they expect me to believe that hanbin didn't try to console Matthew? The whole problem with these shows is that people vote for vibes. Not per se talent. This is why shows like these are so weirdly unpredictable.
It's no necessarily a problem with the *shows*. It's an "issue" with the whole entertainment industry, not even the only the kpop industry. People judge, and watch what they like seeing. It's just like how you don't date someone solely for their personality, appearance matters even if many deny it. (Okay, that was the worst analogy, but I hope it's helpful.)
It's kinda subjective, you can be the most talented person but if you do not have any X factor, people may overshadow you. I really do think popular idols are born to be on stage. It may be a sad realization but that's how it works.

I agree with phanbin getting the best edit this episode. I really wonder what the rational behind airing all of his performances on the latter episode is? They give him the best edits but never the time to capitalise on it so I’m baffled. He is rising though and now it’s only a matter of his one pick-ability. I wonder if we’ll see another major edit coming his way in the last mission to secure his spot.
Zhanghao also got a pretty good edit this episode. Struggling as a leader but being humble enough to ask for advice from the mentors and acting on it to better his teams performance. He got the leader edit I thought they would give shanbin. But like you said his leader arc was just unfinished? Even the reconciliation scene was between Matthew and Jiwoong only. The whole SMN edit was awful and I’ll never forgive Mnet for giving us that mess instead of recording scenes😭 I would even take more duck scenes over it honestly
Ricky was definitely more visible and I’m very confused about mnets intention with him. Showed his rank in the interim to drag him down but giving him positive screen time the next episode lol. Even if he fell a bit he’s still a threat so maybe they really just accepted it.

If anyone has problem with Matthew's screentime please blame Msnake and their production team. The way everyone comes attacking at him makes me so disappointed in these kpop fans. nothing against him but Switch team segment was genuinely just Park Hanbin's praise show lol like they showed Keita Jongwoo and Taerae struggling and did not show us them overcoming those struggles except Taerae practicing his butt off... we did not get to see Keita working in his confidence or lack of center time. The mentors literally acted like Park Hanbin just... fixed all their issues? I think we already knew his leadership is amazing. I just see so many people complaining about Say My Name team having a storyline focused on Matthew drama but I do not see anyone pointing out the Switch boys being a tool for a Park Hanbin push.

Well let me break this down for you. Matthew is in top nine while Park Hanbin is not. Matthew's popularity is increasing manifolds while Park Hanbin is mainly supported by Koreans. I don't know what mnet wants but I clearly know what the haters want. Matthew's downfall will allow their picks to enter the top 9 just like how Jay's downfall gave rise to another K trainee. You're seeing the pattern, Matthew is actually very talented and his loyal fandom is so strong mnet fears his international popularity could be a threat to their centers so they're tryna manipulating viewers. This way they're making sure their centers position remains unthreatened while the other trainees of the same age group get hyped. Matthew has been portrayed as a bad leader and as a bad team member in particular while we all know he's clearly not. Dude gave up the part he wanted two times but the third time he was hesitant he got backlash from the public. No one's gonna think of how difficult it must've been on him since all the other trainees got a Main part and he feared he wouldn't shine much in his part. The switching of part was rightly done but you can't expect him to not he upset about him. We all know who actually had the best stage presence in smn but again no one's gonna talk about that. I disagree. Na Kamden was having trouble helping the other members of Switch when he was the leader. He asked for Park Hanbin's help since he had been a leader before and had advice to help the members. For instance, Keita because his parts were small find ways to stand out etc. Hanbin was the only one that got good feedback during the practice. This was not the first time Hanbin had been praised for being a good leader! He actually wanted to focus on being center instead of being leader.
I’ve never once thought about Keita’s height. Not once! So it’s sad to hear he keeps getting bullied over it.
The lack of screen time for Jiwoong is worrying me especially since all the other contestants seem to like him a lot which means they interact with him slot to build rapport. I do t think Mnet wants him to debut even though from what I see from the behind the scenes he gets along with everyone.

Unfair screen time distribution and evil editing are something that I’ve gotten used to seeing in all the previous seasons. But the production team went overboard this season. There was no need to drag on a drama for nearly 3 episodes (referring to SMN team). My boy Seungeon barely got any screentime this episode… even the ducks in that one shot of the pond had more screen time than Seungeon 😢 Matthew was one of my top picks but the recent episodes have really ruined my impression of him. I don’t blame him for getting upset, I just wish he handled things differently and controlled his emotions more carefully & appropriately because this is a reality show and everything you do is subjected to scrutiny. While it wasn’t his fault that mnet chose to dramatize his situation, I really can’t understand what is mnet’s purpose of pushing Matthew like this. I have no issue with PD picks but mnet, this is not the way to do it… at least be moderate about it please 💀
Another reason why this season was the worst imo: THEY’RE LITERALLY A SCAMMER 💢 Ending the first survival announcement TH-cam livestream after announcing only ONE trainee, and promising to release the performances in episode 9 only to split them up into 2 episodes…… I was so disappointed when I realized that I had to wait another week to watch Over Me performance. Lost all anticipation at that point tbh 😶 especially since the dance practice, cute onesies version, and 1.5x speed version of the performances were released on TH-cam before episode 10. We have basically seen everything BUT the actual stage performance itself by that time. That was frustrating 😩

I think its really hard for Korean society to accept cultural differences of western contestants. Also, I think they are not ready for global group or market at all.

Regarding Jay, I’ve seen spoilers saying that the audience couldn’t really hear his singing properly because the instrumentals were loud and there was a lot of people screaming their lungs off while watching Over Me stage performance. So their votes were based more on the dance performance I guess? Jay is great as a vocalist and his voice really suits the song but he really should work on his dancing skills a bit more… Consider watching his solocam and comparing it with his teammates’ solocam, and you’ll get what I mean. No hate on Jay tho, I’m just explaining my theory on why he got the lowest votes in his team
Disagree a little. Yeah ppl don’t care for Shauibo after last week but he was by far the weakest in Switch. He barely put effort during the stage and just watch his facial expressions, the entire time he looked like he still had the mindset of ‘I’m not making finals anyway so I’m going to half ass it’.
Jay however was robbed for sure, like last place makes no sense, I definitely felt bad for him.

Interesting opinion. I watched his fancam and I think he did really well, he catches the camera well and did great expressions too. He is much hard working than how mnet made him look. He practiced for 3 parts of switch dances before the 2nd elimination.
