I would recommend listing the pens in the description. I’m always hunting for flex pens and like to just see a list so I can save it for later

What did we know about making pens in the twenties that we have forgotten about today!

They used a different process to make gold nibs back then -- and nobody knows precisely what that process was. We do know that it involved hammering the gold and that 14kt seemed to be the sweet spot. The problem though isn't one of supply -- but rather, demand. If there were sufficient demand, we'd have amazing modern flex pens.

Tempering the gold with heat and pressure makes the nib perfect for writing.

Great job. Enjoyed seeing the pens and hearing your thoughts. My only suggestion would be to make sure your pens are fully inked before filming. Keep up the good work!

Just got my first wet noodle and it is by far my favorite pen so far. I been using it for nearly everything. I must admit I had to use it for a few days to get use to it. It doesn't flex as much as I hoped it would but it turned out to be the best as of today. I don't have a very big collection but I use what I have. Thanks for the video

    • @anjapinkau3737

@@alexsandra9000 A wet noodle is a very flexible nib that takes very little pressure to flex and is supported by a feed that gives enough ink to make broad lines without railroading.

@@alexsandra9000 I don't know. If you have one in your vicinity, go to a stationary store and ask there. I think it is best to try out fountain pens, they can be very different. Or research the internet, google for flex nibs or flex nib fountain pens. But usually the internet doesn't tell you how flexy a certain flex nib is, so back to square one: trying out. Check reviews, that's what I've been doing the last couple of days. So far, I've learned that you find the best "wet noodles" amoung vintage pens. The name Waterman 54 has come up quite often as the "ultimate wet noodle nib". Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

The best fountain pen with a flex nib, I have ever write with. Is a Good Blue with a titan flex nib. Try it and will love it. The design, the material, brass and aluminum, makes it all day fountain pen.

Nice overview thanks. BTW, that is *not* a safety pen; it is just a retractable nib. A safety pen submerges the nib in ink when retracted, permitting you to use substances like India Ink and other artistic fluids you should not use in a normal fountain pen. And opening a safety pen the way you did would dump the ink out.

You are correct, and I do know the difference - as seen in my other videos. I own 5 Moore and 11 Waterman safety pens.

I have a Hero H718 on order. This video whets my appetite after recently picking up my Noodlers Boston Safety Pen. I'm fascinated with retractable nib fountain pens - Vanishing Points, Curidas, Monteverde Engage. They are all unique pens and Capless with the exception of the Boston.

I don't know. I was able to buy the #6 Conklin version by itself. None are very high quality. I ended up giving my pen away. I heard, though, that Jowo will be making the flex nibs now. The quality will be a lot better.

I'd like to comment on the Monza. It was my very first pen, and I enjoyed it very much. However the pen broke apart at the threads one day when I screwed on the cap. So I haven't purchased one since.

      @bryanmarsh9886  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I agree it is a cheap pen. I found that I didn't use it so I gave mine away. On the plus side, if someone really wants one, the Jinhao version is really affordable - and you can swap in the flex nib from the Monza.

Bryan Marsh great idea! Now that I think about it, Their 3 pen set is an incredible deal. One pen body, 3nib units, 3 converters and a free bottle of ink. Even if the body is crap, that’s a great price for very useful pieces and parts!

Hello Bryan, I just found your channel whilst looking something else up. I watched with interest because I like flex nibs although I done write all too well with them.
I can see you've only just started reviewing so don't give up, give it some time. I hope I'm being constructive in my comment. You need to do research on the pens and make a script of what your going to say because you seem to just run out of something to say,,, then say. .."anyway" ... it doesn't sound right as you are trying to give your critique of a pen. There needs to be a connecting sentence as an introduction to the next pen. .' Ok, so moving on to my next pen I've got xxxxxx" or similar, make the script flexible !!! Don't tie to it so you end up tripping it's a just in case. ..
I hope you give this more time to develop, don't pack up through lack of time or not many thumbs ups, or visits. .. I think your voice is easy to listen to and your channel should be given a chance. ..
If I can, I recommend going to David Parker's fig boot on pens and look at one of his videos on how/why he became a content poster. I'm NOT saying copy him, just look at this one particular video as David has become very popular and it would be great if you jumped on board. Don't be put off doing a review because others have because another's input can be just as valuable.
So I hope I've not piste you off saying this because it's said without being negative and I want you to go on. I've subscribed to see what happens to you Ok. .
I'm a commentator not a contributor but for me, ,, to have a chance to waffle is what I d o and tend to write in a personal style, fashion like this ..
The pens were interesting. ..ink them, make sure they're not going to let you down and don't go apologising. .. I do hope I hear some more reviews.
    Best wishes. ..go for it.
    Best wishes to all PenPeople.

Thanks, Lez. I appreciate your advice. I don't image that I will have time to be as prepared as reviewers like Dave Parker or Stephen Brown. I have a lot of demands on my time, and I envisioned my videos as just an informal, one sided, conversation about the pens. But I have done some research, just not thesis level. I hope in the future to have more time and get better production value, just not right away.
