Love the puukko and similar Mora knives. Works excellent for most tasks. Another favourite is Opinel that is perfect for slicing.
If you are not capable of buying good quality indian pen, dont bark
I like that finishing line-'3 down and 260 to go😂. I have some 60 odd, my wife says I am just hoarding them, I will quote what you just said, 60 in, some 200 to come.
I have that exact same knife as the first one you showed. The brass and leather is exact including the markings. As for the blade, mine has the elk also but the handle is a natural finish. There's also some writing etched on the blade that I cannot understand. I didn't know there was wood inside the sheath but I checked and there is. I acquired this knife and a Japanese Bowie without any info and through all my research, your video is the first match for at least one of these knives.
I would never buy a spyder co their trademark hole weakens the blade where you need the most strength.Ive seen them break there and the knife is destroyed not something you would want to happen when you need a knife
This video is so helpful! Thank You!
i recall you use to have fpr 14k gold flex nib as well, if you still had it where would stack up in this line up?
wonderful video this deserves a lot more views ⭐ thank you four your insights
The best fountain pen with a flex nib, I have ever write with. Is a Good Blue with a titan flex nib. Try it and will love it. The design, the material, brass and aluminum, makes it all day fountain pen.
one of the best fountain pen video i came across in a long time, something which is eye opening and inspirational. Thank you Mr. Bryan ⭐
Where did you get your buna rubber from and how thick is it.
Excellent video. Thanks
Love All My Puukkos .
That’s a wonderful introduction! Fuki urushi is such a great finish :) did you mix the lacquer with turps?
I'd love to get an in-depth video of your furo chamber that you made to cure your urushi
I am obsessed with vintage Waterman’s! The flex really make your handwriting pop. It just looks so incredible!!
Amazing experimenting with urushi. I usually like a "basic" tamenuri, but your raden is cool too. I can only imagine how much time and $ you spent on this. Yes, the city in Japan where you could see urushi craftsmen that was damaged in the last earthquake was called Wajima. Beautiful small city. I hope the town will recover. Aloha.
Great content, just taken that you did not mention Wirkkala Puukko.
very interesting
Bark River knives ar made in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where there a a lot of people of Finnish decent.
This is great advice! I'm at the beginning of my pen restoration journey and I wish I'd find this video even sooner.
You did a nice job on your version. Certainly as good a knife as any you show there.
Just use a hair dryer and it will not burn the pen. Not a heat gun, open flame but a hair dryer.
Can i just say as a fellow knife enthusiasts.......bravo..my man...beautiful build. What will it take for you to make me one??
I have and use many finish puukko ,BB [ birch bark,] and of course curly birch /karelian birch ,are most traditional...nice video ..
Where did you get that silicone grease applicator?
It is a syringe used for irrigating wounds. They should be available from places that sell first aid or medical supplies.
I feel so bad, for that large Moore pen 🙁 I hope you were able to fix that pen. Totally agree about buying from a reputable seller.
I was able to fix it, and it works well. The retailer finally got back to me but was not apologetic, they instead said that they are experts and they didn't really believe me. I could have sent it back to them, but didn't want someone else buying it and being disappointed.
Yay, it's good to hear, you've fixed the pen ! You must have high level skills. I'm envious. I'm not surprised by the seller's reaction. Just by the condition of the pen. Are they a well known seller? Can you give a hint to their identity 😂
What is the ticking noise in the background? Clock? It’s really noticeable
*promo sm* 😪
I think this is the video I need. I have one that says Lifetime on the nib and is a vac filler. now i just need parts.
Thanks for the video Very informative!!
Clean the shellac jar top with alcohol, then apply Vaseline to the top and threads. It won’t stick shut on you that way.
I like the scandi grinds for woodwork, but often they are terrible slicers. Some really nice puukkos in your collection.
I agree, especially those made of thick steel. The "rhomboid" puukkos, however, are great slicers. The two I have are the Spyderco and the Jarvempa.
@@bryanmarsh9886 Good to know! Thanks .
Sold break down of the company cross. I always carry 2-3 pens on hand. 1. Fountain pen 2. Cross gell pen with black ink. So that if someone needs to borrow a pen, they can write with it, and the black gell ink color is awesome. 3. Fisher Space pen because no matter what is happening I can always count on it to write even in -30. 😆 Man wish I was rich. It would be nice to buy cross up and build them back up to what they once were. I was shocked to see cross gone from staples.
this video was very helpful!! i got my pen apart (it’s almost like the one in this video, but the plunger thingy is trashed. and the nib unit need to be replaced because the nib is partially broken. Where do you get your parts?
I get parts and tools from Pentooling.com but things like replacement nibs I have on hand from pens I couldn't fix
Try Mohi Pens as well, one of the best value for money Pens you can buy in India
Could watch vids on puukkos all day. Such a simplistic and minimalist design. No Damascus steel required, no one harping on about how they're not full tang (if they've used and understand their functionality), no argument necessary about if uses the most expensive super steel in the world by someone that lets it sit inside their knife drawer... A true tool for sure, and this video does it great justice. Nice work!
I’ve ordered my repair tools, however I would like to get a work surface and was wondering where you got your silicon mat from.
I just took a section off using my hairdryer, and patience. It was interesting. I thought it would take more might. When that shellac reached the temperature it needed to melt, the need for force was 1/10th of what I was prepared for. This is a lesson.
I have been holding myself back for MONTHS from buying this pen. At first I was fixated on the Orange-black, but then a month ago a white one came out and I don't think I can hold myself back much longer. Every day that I get off from work there's a strong temptation to just visit my favourite pen store and buy one right that day. But I have a hunch that it's not going to work out just yet. There's a nagging voice in my head saying that the money would come in handy. That voice is probably a part of me maturing into a boring, sensible adult. Though I am happy with my two Lamy Lx for now. But soon my precious...soon. Update: I caved. Bought the Pearl White with a broad nib. It. Is. BEAUTIFUL!
It doesn't increase the value of the pen, it increases the price of the pen.
Nice video, l like fountain pen and restoration pens and pencils
I recommend you Kanwrite pens. Kanwrite Legacy ebonite with Titanium ultraflex and Gold 14k EF ultraflex are a joy to use. Rightnow i am writing with a Kanwrite 14K Gold ultraflex nib on a Gravitas Ultemate VAC.
I had heard the newer & improved Noodler's Bosten safety pens have a stainless shaft inside instead of the ebonite...
Yes, the newer version has a stainless rod, but it makes the pen a LOT heavier, and the rod is rough - causing ink to leak past the seals. I should probably do a vid on these. I was able to fix mine by polishing the rod.
Never use a flame around celluloid!
The Mora robust ìs a handyman knife and a forest knife. The reason to the button clip is traditional here in Sweden. manufacturer's attach a button on and a loop the right leg. It's easier to get the knife from there when you're working then from the belt. Interesting film
Never had a a Karas Pen. Cool mystery and gift. Hope you are feeling better. Aloha
GGood night~ Wow!total beautiful upload, ciao,Bryan- 🙃
Wonderful explanation of all the different varieties, how they work and their history. Excellent video!
I just attended my first Fountain Pen Show and bought my first vintage pen, a Waterman Lever filler. Thank you for this wealth of information!
